  1. The curse download hasn't actually been optimized for arena fighting, but has the fuel load up to the 1.0 Vertical TWR limit. So, you might want to unload the fuel in the center tanks to get more agility and power out of it
  2. Well, it's not really supposed to be a fighterjet... I've noticed the problem with the Jernas as well. I'm unsure if it's caused by AI settings or some other issue, but due to the 1.2 pre-release I haven't been able to test it lately...
  3. My experience is a bit different, it can take off and do normal flight routines, but when in combat it thinks it's a nimble fighter and decides to 'Just do a barrel roll', which always fails horribly.. They are being activated upon activating the VTOL engines using the custom Keys Also, great to see this topic come to Life! Hope to join you in Battle soon. How'd you find the liberators performance?
  4. It's better now, I have at least noticed a difference in behaviour: turning isn't as abrupt as it used to be, G forces are comparatively lower, the air is noticably less dense (so turning at High altitude and low speeds take ages), so it's more natural now
  5. @Van Disaster, pre-release notes the differences are not as dramatic as with FAR, but for most aircraft I've week a factor 1,5 to 2 decrease in drag, and a corresponding increase in lift to drag ratio
  6. Wel yes, Aero in 1.2 is not only calculated by the parts that 'hang in the wind' but also on the shape of the aircraft, meaning that aerodynamica designs have gotten more aerodynamical, andere vice versa. The VTOL I used in this challenge has had it's drag cut by a factor 1,5* compared to 1.1.3! *Corrected, my memory didn't serve me well.
  7. I'm not complaining that most others are actually fanatical about getting the most economical aircraft, I was just wondering if there is still discrimination between FAR and Stock. For me, it's not about winning, it's about testing the capabilities of the aircraft I had already developed and giving them purpose hence the use of a VTOL jet.
  8. I've already been designing the same thing, but by doing some kind of parkour with both ground and air targets.
  9. @Pine, are you still discriminating between FAR and Stock Aero? I see all these low fuel consumptions, but either their engines run on dark matter or it's FAR. I can nog possibly use that little fuel in stock.. I'd like to know because of the new Aero in 1.2, which gives the need to re-do the challenges
  10. Nice new challenges Pine! Unfortunately, your stations keep blowing up on me due to the 1.2 Pre-release version I'm running, so here's a completely stock Radio Tower Crew Change. Unfortunately, I forgot to load up two extra kerbals, so I switched the pilots. Not that it matters. The aircraft used is the A6 Eagle VTOL. Which, as I found out, isn't VTOL at that altitude, but still worked out fine. So, scoring: LF used: 724 - 572 = 152 * 0,8 = 121,6 Mono used: 315 - 276 = 39 * 0,83 = 32,37 Total costs: 153,97 Total scoring: 153,97 / 2 = 76,99 And album: here
  11. When I have time I'll check it out I can now put two Liberators against eachother with fighter support, so I guess a 1 vs 1 with your ship should be possible. If not, 1.2 should give a performance boost!
  12. @njmksr, nice! I look forward to a face-off. Looks like you're carrying an aweful lot of weapons, interesting
  13. You're not crazy, but max heat is a constraint, just like not being allowed to bring a gattlinggun to a riflecontest is a constraint. It limits your options, so to shave off time you have to get creative, like the current number 1 on the rescue list.
  14. Well, I've done the rescue mission by just hauling the complete pod back to KSC... I've used the C3 Halcyon for this, but it's usually used on land, not on water... so that required some improvising. The pod was dropped at KSC at 09:06, (unfortunatly, a screenshot only exists of 09:09...) The aircraft itself was landed at 09:56. Due to that the podcrew got their R&R at 09:06, minus two minutes for the pod recovery, means a total time of 07:06. imgur album here
  15. Pine, you aren't actually very clear on this one. What is "1 cargo"? Because 1 cargo can just as much be 50 tons as it can be 50 kg. So I could just drop off 50 tons of cargo at stop number one, and drop antennae at the rest... Gets the job done, fits the requirements and because I lost pretty much all the weight right at the start, my score is lower than it would be if I dumped my 50 tons at the last airport. So, I'd suggest changing "one cargo" into "One standard unit of cargo" where every unit weighs the same. It's up to the participant to chose what weight the cargo has, but it has to unload ONE standard unit at EACH airport. Only then an average score can be properly calculated.
  16. Nice to see an extended challenge @Pine! I'll be sure to check out what you have thought up this time soonTM
  17. It's a good idea, but I doubt if the current game engine allows for procedurally generated random events... Especially events like earthquakes and erupting volcanoes leave a permament mark on the planet, I guess that will need extensive script additions that will be beyond the current scope... This is mod material I fear...
  18. Fairly confident, because only the parts that are clearly in the airstream get heated. I noticed that as the Pe gets lower, the craft became more and more unstable, eventually flipping over to a point where the asteroid was at the trailing end. Whenever that happened, things really started to heat up and explode... So I'm faily confident that the asteroid itself does indeed act as a heat shield.
  19. So, I just found time to refine the M-GS-1, which is now named "Liberator" It is to be found and downloaded here: M-GS-1 Liberator @Colonel Cbplayer, here ya go!
  20. Thanks! I'll upload it in the following days and will tag you once it's up. It is a WIP though, I'm still in the process of refining the load-out.
  21. Well, I have a mining setup on Minmus in one of my saves, where I test different mining vehicles. I believe there are currently four such vehicles present, one of which equiped with an ISRU. However, it has mods, KAS/KAX and Aviation Lights are present. So it doesn't fit the bill. If no one shares a save I can, but it will be modded... (I don't have time to remove all the modded elements, sorry.)
  22. I have a D-class asteroid in a polar orbit around Kerbin, which was put in place by a tug that didn't actually fulfill the job that well, but I did find that the heating only comes into play when parts are "out there into the wind". This conclusion comes from the observation that the heating bar (and heat display) only shows heating when parts turn beyond the lee of the asteroid, and because my tug was always moving around from side to side when in atmosphere, different parts got heated at different AoA.
