  1. In stock, flags and/or deliberately dropped parts can serve a purpose for getting specific camera angles, or getting a ground view of a landing location. The purpose is then not to 'control' a craft but rather the camera. Please don't remove that feature (but I'm fine with 'hiding' it behind a second set of keys, and making the standard switch vessel key only go to controllable craft).
  2. A nice quick summary, but: Has this actually been specifically stated that way by Squad, or just conjecture/wishful thinking by those considering this to be 'cheating'?
  3. Why has CSteamworks.bundle been replaced by an empty EmptySteamDepot folder...?
  4. Just quickly tested in 1.2.0.1584 - 8.74 EC/s at full throttle sea level.
  5. The reaction this morning at seeing a new pre-release build (and changelog) published only mere hours ago...
  6. Update: I re-ran the PartMapper on build 1576, and it was able to upload the data without error. After reuploading the craft with the size0 heatshield it is now correctly identified as stock. So all's well now.
  7. Yes, it's called 1.2, and it's scheduled to drop tomorrow. (in other words: no, they don't do retroactive patching of older branches).
  8. Thanks for picking this up and for what you can do. There's no rush, do things as time and circumstance permit you. Suggestion: set up Patreon and/or PayPal accounts and post them here and on the site. Let us that cannot help any other way at least contribute to the recovery effort.
  9. Either ice tea or hot tea, depending on the temperatures. Snacks are usually varied nuts - which seems oddly fitting.
  10. @katateochi, is the KerbalX PartMapper updated for 1.2.0pre? Reason I'm asking: I uploaded a pure stock craft to KerbalX, and it claims it's a mod craft, because it doesn't yet recognise the new size0 heatshield. So, I figured I'd be helpful and let PartMapper add it to the site's database. But it won't upload due to an internal server error: PartMapper for KerbalX.com - v0.4.2 Scanning Parts in C:/_/progs/KSP120p Parts Found: 301 done Removing duplicates and sorting... done Discovered 301 parts Sending data to KerbalX.com..... sending info about 'Squad'...Failed -> error: 500 Some requests could not be processed because reasons; Internal Server Error This terminal will stay open for a minute if you want to review the output Or you can close it now with CTRL+C (Btw, it still doesn't create a logfile, not even by redirecting output on the command line.)
  11. First and most importantly: nice, small and simple design, @benoit406. I like it. If this is your first, you have a whole new wealth of experiences and adventures ahead of you in KSP, and you're making a good start! It's not an easy place to get to. My first visit to it in 1.2 is now marked by a cockpit -just the cockpit - permanently parked at the base of the large pyramid... Well, we can't have that now, can we? So to protect @benoit406 from claims of false advertisement , and to squash your disappointment, I present: My Fist Plane. There, no more disappointments, and the thread title is accurate now.
  12. It's not been explicitly stated in the rules, but from looking at the entries, everyone seems to have treated it that way. I have some screenshots of separate higher top speeds and Gs that I did not submit due to them being on separate runs. That said, the rules do not outright dismiss it, so if you have a nice design that reached some really good numbers and you want to show them, go ahead: worst thing that can happen is @DarkOwl57 will say it can't be on the board (and specify the rule).
  13. Well I decided to go and check. I started a fresh save, and headed straight for the coordinates for the north pole green monolith I listed above. No monolith to be found, just kilometers and kilometers of empty ice shelf: So it would appear your hunch is right, the green monoliths do not seem to be permanent fixtures and are at least different per save. Can anyone else one confirm this (cause a sample of one doesn't make for very good science)?
  14. Pff Google... they don't even have Klingon in the list (Bing has it...).
  15. Careful now... tensions are already high, and wars have started over less. Two very distinct languages, thank you very much. Question may be more: why did you neglect to add German, Greek, Mandarin, Sumerian, High D'Haran...?
  16. A short moment of euphoria at the release announcement... and it's gone. I think you guys need to expand your lil job ad on the forum to clarify they're (very!) short-term positions only (not so much of a 'career'). And perhaps seriously rethink your 'Remuneration based on regional standards' policy...
  17. Microsoft stopped maintaining/developing RTF 8 years ago, so that's not surprising. Any library from around that time would still be 'up to date'.
  18. Why not the other way around: add a definition for what IS a craft file? Seems like the list would be a lot shorter and processing quicker...
  19. RTF... Wordpad. Almost 99% guaranteed. ANSI codepage 1252... 100% Windows confirmed. Definitely a Windows user that mistakenly used Wordpad instead of Notepad to edit a craft file, and didnt notice it got automatically saved as RTF. I dunno, @katateochi... sleeping on the job, no parser for RTF... I may have to retract my undying devotion to the KerbalX site. Tsk Tsk.
  20. Like I said, in my message earlier in this thread: I have, while designing craft for the express purpose of surviving the highest possible speeds for a forum challenge. It works for heat at least. I can't say if it definitively reduces drag, because I had to solve the heat problem before drag became an issue: the mandatory Mk1 cockpit was exploding from heat well before drag set the speed limit. So for all I know, it affects both heat *and* drag, or maybe reducing drag is how it solves the heat problem. All I know is it keeps an Mk1 cockpit safe from heat for longer and up to significantly higher speeds, allowing me to pursue the design towards higher speed records. A quick and easy test setup that shows a clear difference:
