  1. What do you think transportation would look like with your Martian city? And how long would it take to build?
  2. Alright, imagine this: The newest arrival of Humans recently landed on Mars in ____ (Whatever date you feel is realistic), but this time, with a few additional (Unmanned) ships, those unmanned ships contains equipment for use in mining, and Insert number here of the insert number here ships has miners, before Insert company name here sent the people, the insert number here ships landed on Mars, said that the colonists will be required to begin mining materials from and under the martian regolith for the construction of a Martian city that will also begin to make the colony self-sufficient. Okay, drop all criticisms you may have for Mars colonies, as this is a thought experiment; Here are the questions 1: Where would be the best place for the colony to be? 2: What materials would they mine? 3: What would the city look like and function, and what would the social structure look like? 4: How long would a Martian city take to build? 5: What is the minimum level of technology needed to survive on Mars once you get there? 6: For further discussions on a similar topic, go here;
  3. It's further away from the sun (And far away from Saturn), so its weak gravity can hold on to an atmosphere. You did, I was speed-reading, so I didn't read it thoroughly the first time.
  4. So raise the temperature to where it's well below freezing (But still much warmer) so it's covered in ice, or well above freezing so that it's an Oceania.
  5. So if Io has an atmosphere about as thick as Earths. What would its RAD intake be, and what would its temperature be (Assuming it's mostly CO2)? Also, Doesn't Io have the highest gravity of any Moon in the solar system?
  6. Like everyone has said, radiation concerns. Even though we have better in-space propulsion systems, NTR's would be good for upper stages on rockets to increase payload capacity, and Lunar tugs to get stuff from LEO to LMO faster than SEP/VASIMR, and more efficient (But slower) than chemical (Although, we can wait a few extra days to get stuff to the Moon). So we may see them in use around the 2030s as upper stages and (Possibly) Lunar tugs. Who knows?
  7. Dogs, more specifically, Puppies; Awwwwwwwwwwwww, aren't you so cute!
  8. Oh, when I read the Wiki article, it said NSICE was launching with TESS, I guess that's outdated now.
  9. Maybe, but by the time it launches, it'll be mostly reusable, lowering costs, and enabling the TESS team to do more Exoplanet science
  10. No, I was asking for the link were you said SpaceX was studying the Sabre engine.
  11. They'd be confirming planets around Tau Ceti then https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tau_Ceti_e, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tau_Ceti#Planets Don't hold your breath for a habitable exoplanet though, it may still be in the planet making process
  12. Ooooooooh I like the new logo, it's awesome
  13. TESS is a Exoplanet hunting telescope that will (Hopefully) launch in August 2017 on a Falcon 9. It will look for nearby planets mainly around the nearest G-K type stars (The nearest 1000 M-dwarfs will also be looked at), with the intention of looking for Earth-like planets (Like Kepler is doing), And more than 200k stars will be studied in its 2 year mission. IMO This will be the coolest telescope ever, and if any telescope is going to find a near-Earth twin close to us, it's this one, I cannot WAIT for this to launch So what do you think about TESS? And do you think it'll find Earth 2.0?
  14. Well, if we ruled out the possibility of life, then would it be a potential project?
  15. Oh. Well do you know of any theoretical possibilities to create a stronger magnetic field on Ganymede?
