  1. How much of your orbital speed (~7 km/s) should you be able to shed in the upper atm before max Q?
  2. I'm trying RSS for the first time, and decided to stick with a non-RO setup until I'm more comfortable. My question is, without RO is there a recommended setting to change re-entry heating to? Or should stock 1.2.2 100% re-entry heating be reasonable? My spaceplanes now burn up entering at the higher speeds and I want to figure out whether stock heating is manageable or not. If people routinely play with it set at 100% I'll go back to the drawing board on my craft design. My apologies if this has been asked before. Thx.
  3. Anyone know of a mod that will allow me to change a tank on an existing orbiting craft from LF to LF+Ox? Not in the VAB/SPH, but in a craft that's already been launched? (I don't want to send a new drill rig to jool b/c I can't change one of the tanks to include oxidizer.) Any advice appreciated. thx.
  4. Yep, see picture above. Two ports are literally on the hydrazine tank, another one is attached to the reactor, another is on top. Wasn't able to get any of them working...
  5. I was able to fix my problem by using a different part (the 5-way retractable resistojet) but not able to get the linear one working. if you can see in my screenshot, I'm holding RCS forward but no power to the jet.
  6. Any easy reason my linear RCS ports might not be working? If I place a linear monoprop port it works. I have an inline hydrazine RCS tank on the same craft that's working properly, I just need these two rear linear ports for translation-throttle.
  7. WOW! That was fast. FT your work on this mod is amazing. Getting rep from CKAN now and can't wait to try it out with existing and new craft.
  8. I think I'm having the same problem, as I document below with screenshots. I have two craft, a power station with a gyrotron generating Ka-band microwave connected to a multi bandwith dish tranceiver that appears to be beaming 9 GW, rendezvoused at < 1 km in LKO. The reciever is a Mk1 inline thermal connected to a generator and oriented at 90 deg to the transmitter, but still shows no power.
  9. Is there an obvious reason why canTransmit = false for the deployable phased array microwave receiver (or any of the microwave parts for that matter)? I'm generating megajoules and have radiators on my craft. Is it likely a bug, mod-incompatibility, or a design problem? Ubuntu ksp 64 bit.
  10. Thanks for the quick reply! I do have NFT packs installed. Does the output get reduced if you have any of the NFT packs, or only NF-engines or electrical? Just out of curiosity, are the energy requirement for the orbital super collider and VISTA engines reduced when running in compatibility mode, or will they stay in the GW range?
  11. My reactor thermal power outputs are way lower than what's listed in either the thread or the wiki for interstellar. For instance, both say you can get 3 GW out of a a fission reactor, but my 3.75 m molten salt reactor only produces 13 MW even with the upgraded techs and proper radiator setup. Should I be getting more power from my reactors?
  12. Try installing the Graphic Memory Monitor plugin. When your RAM starts getting high it will change from white, to orange, to eventually red lettering.
  13. This mod is amazing. One question though. My reactors, even after researching the upgrade tech and attaching radiators, never come close to producing the kind of power I see in the table on this post (also in the Wiki). For instance, the tables claim that a 3.75 m molten salt fission reactor can generate 3 to 9 GW of thermal power when upgraded. In my game a 3.75 m Molten Salt Reactor generates 13 MW max. Is this normal? Am I misreading something?
