Orion Venus flyby?
Emperor of the Titan Squid replied to _Augustus_'s topic in Science & Spaceflight
I would think that you could use a similar space craft for what you would do for a Mars flyby. You could also combine the two. If we used b330s, node four and mplms to build a spacecraft for anything, that would be nice. -

This is hypothetical. I want to try to figure out what could be done, we're not trying to do this for real.- 38 replies

This makes it seem very impractical. Is there anything we can do to solve these problems?- 38 replies

The space island group
Emperor of the Titan Squid replied to Emperor of the Titan Squid's topic in Science & Spaceflight
Good point about the insulation. The space island group wanted to put insulation inside the tanks, Which would solve the problem but be very costly. And yes they seriously wanted to operate a shuttle fleet.- 38 replies

The space island group

If we could launch a second, smaller spacecraft, such a dragon, carrying the radiatiotors, that could work. As long as it can carry them. We could also send a crew separately from the radiators. It would require a crew and some supplies anyway, to fill it with air.- 38 replies

In the 1980s and 90s, the was an organization known as the space island group. they intended to build and operate there own fleet of space shuttles, and to bring the fuel tanks to orbit. how credible is the idea of a fuel tank station, or using tanks for on-orbit infrastructure? What if we could bring SLS fuel tanks to orbit? how economical would this be compared to inflatables? How would we design a rocket if we wanted to bring the tanks to orbit?

That's the point. It's leased to spaceX for the fh. That could make history. -
Seriously looking too far into the future.
Emperor of the Titan Squid replied to PB666's topic in Science & Spaceflight
Let's wait to make a new geological period until we have built a Mars colony. Not that it matters to geology.
