  1. You've already got some really good advice, and rather than beat a dead horse, I thought I'd add some very minor observations regarding the particular rocket you posted that will help. I would suggest using less fins, that rocket looks like it could get away with just basic fins. Use 4 fins, not 6, and make sure they're on the N, S, E, & W sides of your rocket. Most of the time less is more with fins/reaction wheels/control surfaces. It's hard to say with your particular rocket, but I've found that a lot of times, fairings tend to be counter-productive or just plain unnecessary. You *might* try not using that fairing. Other than that, definitely try altering your ascent profile to the gravity turn methods everyone has already recommended. +1
  2. Indeed. I beat a heroin addiction not even a year ago, and KSP is obviously a better avenue than that crap. I guess I'm fortunate I do have so much time available to play KSP...although it is a lot less lately because of school.
  3. Thanks for clarifying @Snark! I figured that 1.3.5 was the most up to date for my version of KSP...I also figured it'd be the last version put out for 1.0.5. Unfortunately, I haven't bothered updating to 1.1 yet just because there are so many mods that have not been updated yet and are incompatible with 1.1. I use a lot of mods, and a good number of them I just can't imagine playing without.
  4. I looked all over SpaceDock and the github repository, and was unable to find what I was looking for. I'm sure this is probably obvious, but I just wanted to make certain. I could not find a version file or anything of the nature saying the minimum KSP version needed for 1.4+. I assume its KSP 1.1 and that 1.0.5 will not run 1.4.x but just wanted to confirm. I guess 1.3.5 is the most up to date version for me then?
  5. One of the main reasons you didn't mention that I use KJR is for part count reduction. I have a crappy laptop that can't run KSP very fast, so part count is important to me and I always strive for C&C (Cheap & Cheerful) rockets.
  6. Hahaha I really enjoy these answers; I'm glad to find out I'm not the only one utterly addicted and a slave to KSP. I just can't get enough of it! "I'm not addicted, I can stop anytime I want!" ...famous words I've heard before...
  7. First of all, I'd like to suggest using the Kerbal Joint Reinforcement mod; I'm assuming you don't already. This is a great mod and I absolutely recommend it. I have found with this mod that I rarely even need to use struts for structural stability and strength. Only in certain cases do I find them necessary; I can usually eliminate their need with careful designing. With that said and out of the way, I'll do my best to answer your question. To be honest I kind of had a hard time understanding exactly what it is that you're asking. The answer is yes, struts will increase the strength of the joints between your wings and that fuselage. However, if you choose to install KJR, you most likely can get away with not needing any of those struts to begin with.
  8. You should have a folder (like 2016-4-13-16_142842 or something like that) denoting the date and time the crash happened, and inside one of the files should be your output/error log. This folder would be in your base KSP folder and is created anytime KSP crashes. Are you sure you didn't miss it, or maybe were looking for a text file in the main KSP folder, for example?
  9. There are already some fantastic answers here. But to simplify it as much as possible if you're still having trouble understanding dV, you can look at it like dV is how far your rocket is able to go. It's how efficient your engine is with the mass it has to lug around, and how much fuel it has to do it with.
  10. I would suggest posting this in DMagic's thread (it is in fact his mod, I use it too ). Can you repeat the problem? I suspect it may not happen again.
  11. I've done that too, I couldn't fathom wasting time on any other game right now. And I've found myself wanting to skip class to be able play moarrr KSP.
  12. Is anyone else finding themselves seriously addicted to KSP? Granted, I'm still pretty new, but even veterans are still very involved in the game. Obviously it helps that it's still being developed, updated, and ultimately improved. It seems like all my free time is dedicated to KSP (not that I'm complaining). I hope I'm not the only one that's addicted; God knows I know enough about addiction.
  13. Don't ever let it happen again. No you are absolutely right, my mistake. In my defense, I did not expect this to become a long thread or one about LS mods at all though.
  14. Im pretty confident I never claimed that LS prevented being able to do that. What I said was I disliked the idea I could survive years at a time with no life support of some kind. An LS mod provides that, and that was the only point I originally tried to make. There isn't any room for debate, that's what an LS mod does.
  15. I apologize for not being able to provide you with any specific help. However, I suggest uploading your crash logs, as well as requesting a mod move this to one of the tech support forums; you'll likely get more help that way.
  16. I just quicksave/quickload, personally. I had hoped I was Doing It Wrong™ and there was a better way.
  17. I finally ended a Duna mission last night, so I was able to get around to reinstalling my favorite LS mod. To each their own right? I don't think it's right to come down so hard (or at all) in how other people chose to play this awesome game.
  18. You're beating a dead horse and nobody cares. People will play with LS or they won't. What else is their to discuss You've made your opinion on LS very clear, and you don't seem to have anything else to add...
  19. Yes I have tried both transmitting it and returning it to KSC. Nothing seems to make these types of contracts complete, and I definitely feel like I'm doing everything correctly.. I guess this is a bug then?
  20. The most productive and interesting thread derail I've ever seen.
  21. I remember completing this contract. I found it much simpler to just mine ore and then use the ISRU to turn it into the fuel you need on Minmus, rather than have to lug a ton of fuel up there.
  22. I don't know what happened then, but thanks for clarifying guys. I was on my phone not my laptop, so maybe I did accidentally try and like the same post twice. Either way, I can't replicate the error anymore.
  23. First off, I love this mod! I haven't unlocked all of the features yet, but I've really enjoyed it so far. I've been having trouble with the recon telescope though. For some reason, it doesn't ever want to give me credit for using it. The Long Term Orbital Reconnaissance Mission contracts that require the use of the Simple Orbital Reconnaissance Telescope (I suppose the more advanced one should theatrically work too but I don't have it unlocked yet) won't recognize that I have gathered the necessary data. This isn't the first time I've had the problem either. I also experience the problem when I look at the [x] Science! mod and see that I don't get credit for any of the simple recon data science experiments. The kicker is that if I'm in a new area, like going to Minmus for the first time, and I do the recon science experiment on both hemispheres, I will actually receive science for doing it...but it just doesn't get counted in X Science, and it doesn't count for the contract either. Any ideas why this is happening or if I'm doing something wrong? How can I fix this? It bugs the hell out of me. Here's two pictures of what I was describing: https://imgur.com/a/WSde7
  24. I know there is a limit (I believe of 15) to how many posts you can like in one day. I'm not referring to that. I want to know if there is a limit to how many times you can like someone's content. Not the same post obviously, but just their posts in general. To be specific, I tried liking a post by @Snark this morning and it said I could not give that person rep (but it still liked the post and displayed as such). I have only liked two posts today (and none yesterday if thats what youre thinking), so I know I didn't hit that limit. Does anyone know why this is? Is there a limit to how many total times you can like a specific person's content? That would seem silly, unless maybe it was temporary or only for a certain period of time.
