All of these are solvable with mods, except the first one. Why would you want to revert back to an earlier version? If you want to play with 0.16 like you said, I think there is a repository of all the version released. Look at this mod. RSS is not for everyone. Personally, I like how the current game is. If you like RSS, you can play with it on your own install. Again, you can add a mod for this like you have already said. It might be nice, but also performance might be an issue.

It has a particular style that might not be for everyone, while the current parts are ok.... They could definitely use work, but personally I don't see a problem with the current parts

I think you are seeing things... But I wouldn't be surprised if it actually could do that in shallower waters with all 17 goliath engines.
