Welcome to the forums man! Anyways, thanks for the confirmation. Puts me more at ease knowing this.
-
Seems like we're second banana to the Discord, at least for now. That's fun. Oh well, as long as the forum remains with some daily activity I don't mind it too much. It's when the forums outright collapse that I become embittered over Discord.
-
Everything, eh? Well, you guys can have fun having a whinge about no anti-aliasing, this is my game!
-
Yeah, probably. A show and tell all about them? We already discussed that possibility, it's unlikely given how close the last one is. Plus, it seems like they wrapped up the feature video series(in my opinion.)
-
I think he was suggesting that they SHOULD break off thanks to aerodynamic stresses, not that they do.
-
Looks like a feedback channel among some other content that wasn't supposed to be public showed up and then was quickly corrected. I think Stephensan is complaining about their apparent inability to properly set up the Discord server.
-
To be fair I did write the original forum post and its "heads up" edit in under 4 minutes as class was about to begin.

32:9 Support?
Missingno200 replied to dylsh's topic in Prelaunch KSP2 Suggestions & Development Discussion
Monitors like that make me appreciate the fixed 3.2:1 and 4:3 resolutions of a CGA card. Anyways, likelihood is that we will probably get resolution support, but there's a chance it won't be particularly good. There's only so much our eyes can perceive in the corners, so at a certain point the UI elements will have to be locked in place, which could get messy code wise, or they just won't code for that at all. Mods will hopefully fill that support gap if it doesn't support it on launch. -
What is left to cover? They've covered practically everything they could without spoiling things. Even if you could come up with something(something on colonies, for example,) it seems like they've done their best to wrap things up. Again, there's no mystery, that's been finished, and they haven't started a new mystery either for the videos(just the arch in game.) They've also set up the first announcement of a behind the scenes documentary, which isn't something I'd expect something expecting a sequel to end with(I would've expected setup for another episode, like the previous ones.) To top it all off, we have EA approaching, which will cover most, if not nearly ALL of what they could cover in a feature video. At this point, doing feature videos about something that we'll have our hands on in T-4 weeks seems redundant, and doing feature videos on things that won't be there on launch will risk destroying a strong sense of exploration of new features. Now there is still a chance that we'll still get them, as they may use them as a way to do marketing for 1.0 release, but I just find it generally slim odds they will for the reasons above. I hope I'm wrong about that being the last one, these videos have been a blast to watch and I'd honestly like more myself.
-
Just throwing my two cents in before my class starts, but I'm pretty sure the feature episodes are done with as of recording rockets. They ended the "something more" mystery with that video, AND they set up the making KSP2's soundtrack documentary at the end of that episode.

Apparently you do because I did NOT get that context of "movement of the part in the micro" and neither did the guy you were arguing with until the third post. The only reference we had was that traveling was being done with sub-millimeter precision. Nothing about why sub-millimeter shouldn't be applied to crafts. Actually I probably should be reversing my use of micro and macro, shouldn't I? Well, too late to fix that right this second.
-
This is placement and object size. This is also the first time movement is mentioned on the macro scale, and it's pretty vague. I'm extrapolating that part. This is also object size. This is the literal first time you even remotely mention movement in your entire argument that doesn't pertain to space precision. Look, I agree with you, sub-mm precision for building crafts is pretty absurd, but you need to take a moment away from the computer to really rethink your argument here so that you don't trap yourself like that.
-
It's literally the perception of sub-millimeter. What you've just done is move the goalpost by saying "well you can't tell if something's moved under a millimeter," because the original goal was "you can't see sub-millimeter sized objects."

Things are heating up in the "little green men go to space in lego rockets" fandom...

Why can't we use this to centralize the info?

Firstly, I didn't say it was new to the forums. What I DID say was that it had happened before, but it's been a long time since it's been seen here. Speaking of which, since my remark relied on ME seeing it, that means that I can be in err here, which seems to be the case. My bad.

WELLLLLLLLLLL.... On a serious note, I think my main monitor is just a 1080p one. Rather anecdotally, I dabble a LOT in old hardware, so most of my monitors are still 4:3. Pretty sure my most used monitor for that part is a 600p or a 720p monitor. May actually be a 960p, but I'm pretty sure it's a 960x720 monitor. Huh, that's the first time this label has shown up in the KSP2 section of the forums in a loooong while. Fascinating.

I'm a weirdo who thinks AA is a bit of a waste of time unless I'm recording it or trying to max out my video settings.

There's actually 2 lookup tables. The public one, and then the private one. You can add games manually to the private table which then will display. The following is speculation on my part:The private one is client to client specific. If it detects a game from the public one running on your computer, it will automatically add the game to the private table. If the client detects a game running on the private table, it sends the information to the server to then disseminate. As far as I can tell, it IS based on executable name. This is why Team Fortress 2, Half Life 2, Portal 1, and GMod all share the same entry(GMod's), as they're all labeled as "hl2.exe." Portal 2 has a different executable name, so it can be under a new entry.

Aliasing aside, those look pretty darn good. Were these on Steam or where were they posted? Tell me you don't look at how Valve games are marketed without telling me that you don't look at how Valve games are marketed On a serious note, this is surprisingly common. It's gotten less common over the years, but game boxes used to almost ALWAYS contain screenshots from an earlier version of the game. Command and Conquer Generals has screenshots what appear to be just a little bit after the E3 reveal, featuring a red GLA with a prototype Scorpion tank meant for China back when China was green and hit n' run. In terms of Steam, Valve's Team Fortress 2 still has screenshots from the era where they just recreated Team Fortress Classic in Source. Counterstrike 1.6 shows screenshots of the game from before 1.4, AND 1.4 was way before Steam itself!

I can't think of any using the worst settings possible off of the top of my head, HOWEVER the ROBLOX TV advertisement from 2010-ish used the default settings, rather than tweaking the settings that were accessible in ROBLOX Studio's settings. They could've gotten a whole lot more out of it had they tweaked the settings, green screen skyboxes aside. So, not quite "worst settings possible", but it isn't "best settings possible available to the developers" or even "best settings available to the player" either.

I've found in my personal experience that Discord tends to kill communities rather than help them. I suspect part of it is due to rapid fire communication, rather than forcing people to take a step back and actually read what they're writing. Whatever the case, I do know that Discord is a lot more appealing to many people than forums are... I really hope the forums don't die because Discord exists. Or, y'know, they just haven't turned on the AA. Maybe they have the game on minimum settings to show how it looks, or maybe it's for compression reasons(these videos are getting posted to ticktok and twitter, both of which try to rely on smaller bitrates.) Personally, I think you're being a bit nihilistic about this.
-
That's actually a cool idea for environmental story telling. Having a rogue Deb Deb planet captured in Kerbol's orbit could send Kerbals on their interstellar journey to learn more about Deb Deb.
-
The video above says nothing unique at 2:20-ish.

I don't know the specifics of how Steam works, or the circumstances of those photos, but you can practically erase aliasing by scaling down an image and then JPG'ing it.
