Maneuver Nods with No Fuel
FuelX replied to Gainsboreaux's topic in KSP2 Suggestions and Development Discussion
Thirded. I like to use every single milligram of monoprop from my small vehicles. Sometimes I also build small probes only propelled with RCS thrusters. Edit: Looks like I'm fourth. Fourthed. -
Today I wanted to finish the mission I started monday. However it was a nightmare. I had so many bugs. Had to restart the game maybe 20 times tonight and yesterday was worse. Today I hated my session. Ship exploding without reason, or just loosing parts randomly, saves corrupting on approach for docking, saves destroying ship on reload, physics bugs, crazy autopilot, SAS loosing an axis, SAS reverting an axis, loosing orbit display, trajectories errors, wrong results from the maneuver nodes, ship fuel tanks emptying on reloading, KSC popping in space and I'm sure I forgot some. Oh, of course! Forums website with messed up CSS. I'm not mad about it, I'm disapointed. I realy want to like this game. It's KSP with new stuff and cool graphics. But right now it is a mess. And in it's current state and with the bad reviews, this is kind of sad. I know this is early access and I dont mind some bugs. But this is bad for both KSP's and Private Division's reputations. Management made a bad decision and I hope the dev team will rethink their quality control. Sorry for this rant, this should be an happy forum tread. I'll take a break and hopefully come back to KSP 2 in a few weeks.

Yesterday, Valentina left earth for the mun. And today she arrived at her destination. And there she found an unexpected mystery! Her mission was done, but she did not want to come home already. So she went on another adventure. She loved her trip to Minmus, but did miss her planet a little.

Cause/Workaround for missing maneuver node trajectory
FuelX replied to PapaWushu's topic in KSP2 Discussion
Thank you very much, your delta v fix is what I was looking for! -
Thank myou. I will try your tip for the 1,000,000x time warp! Do your pods always land on their legs?

I don't have a middle mouse button.

The right edge of your mouse pad may be the equivalent of a scroll wheel. -
Today I tried to achieve SSTO. I had to redesign my rocket, turns out nuclear engines prevented my space plane to achieve high speed in the atmosphere. So i did some trials and errors with the Rapier and eventualy managed to reach space ! Of course, an SSTO is just fancy waste without a payload. This one is Valentina's taxi. Her ship unfortunatly had a broken fuel sensor and her onboard maneuver tool would not cooperate. So she had to pilot her ship by intuition. She did reach the moon and next time will try a landing. Not much. The rocket was made of few huge parts. Did some strut magic for the side nukes and it was fine.
-
Thanks! Lifted it with a rocket. It reach orbit with both nuclear rockets full. About 6400 Δv. Enough for most trecks around Kerbol. And today I've been working on a SSTO, but no success so far.

KSP Version : 0.1.0.0.20892 Operating System and version : Windows 11 CPU and GPU models: AMD Ryzen 9 7950X, Asus RTX 3070 Ti Description of the bug. I was building a plane and at some point in the built all my vehicle workspaces disappeared. Then I reloaded the save and the problem was still there. I had to take an old save, import the broken vehicle, find the corrupted part, remove it and save the workspace again. Saving the game with the broken vehicle would also corrupt that save. Steps to Replicate : I am unsure if I can replicate. I will try. Fixes / Workarounds (if known..) : I had to restart with an old save and find out the corrupted part. A list of ALL mods : No mods Other Notes / Screenshots / Log Files (if possible..) Here is the first effect of the bug, all my workspaces disappeared when pressing Load Vehicle: Then I restarted the game. All my saves that had this plane in the VAB at least once now display the VESSEL UNAVAILLABLE label: Loading a game with VESSEL UNAVAILLABLE would display the same previous effect and it was also impossible to load a save without restarting the game: And this is an error message when loading a corrupted vehicle workspace from a clean save: I tried to remove the parts one by one from the corrupted model and found out this BZ-52 was the culprit : I removed it and could "uncorrupt" the vehicle save and load it from a save without the VESSEL UNAVAILLABLE message. If this would be helpful, I kept the buggy saves. So I can send log files and vehicle workspace / game save. Thanks, Felix

Parts Manager - UI improvements
FuelX replied to Vl3d's topic in KSP2 Suggestions and Development Discussion
Yes, all of those! But categories should be optional (no category selected to see everything), because I may want to see my engine and fuel tank at same time for example. Also; Highlights: When you right click a part of your rocket or hover it, use a different title color or highlight the part you right clicked on the manager. Linking them with a line (like in KSP 1) would be great too. Add a button to pin a part. Pinned part could pop out of the manager or simply raised to the top. Add a ^ carret button to close all accordions Add a button (an eye icon, for example) to hide all non selected and non pinned parts. Add a setting for parts manager background transparency. -
RTX4070ti 25-30fps during launch
FuelX replied to K9THUNDER's topic in KSP2 Technical Support (PC, unmodded installs)
I play with a 3070 ti and my GPU is not the bottleneck. Especialy with rovers and rockets with high parts count or fuel lines. The way I test this is by playing with graphics quality and resolution. 4k should be mostly 4 times more demanding on your GPU than 1080p. High quality graphics should also be more demanding on your vram. My observation are similar to Sixstrings. On a very simple ship I get over 60 fps in 1080p and about 30 to 40 fps in 4k. However, when I play around the space center in my rover I cap at 20fps whatever the resolution and graphics quality. Here's my task manager and hwmonitor on the launch pad with a very basic rocket and some highlights. Basicaly, my GPU is doing everything it can and a better GPU would do more : And now with a complex rover on the runway : This second screen is much like yours. I dont see any evident bottleneck. Maybe it is RAM or VRAM bound but it is unlikely. My VRAM is fully used but not yours. I cannot know what is going on but it is likely a software issue. For example, bad timings or processes waiting for other processes. Picture it like a jam caused by bad traffic signal synchronization. So yeah, there is some optimisation required. Optimisation is time consuming but I'm hopeful they will eventualy fix these issues. -

Yes, it works! I removed the wombats from my rocket and it's not leaky anymore. It may not be a fix, but it's a fine workaround. I want to try Saphi's trick too.
-
Thanks, I will test that too. My testbed didnt have landing legs and was leaking, but the rocket from my screenshots had wombats i'll change it's legs and give an update. Another finding on my part, it's also related to the staging sequence. Bug start after moving in the staging sequence. By removing side boosters or a first stage for example. Also just adding or removing a fuel tank from the main stage can change staging sequence enought to get rid of the bug. And there's a link to a similar topic:

How do i use the Camera properly VAB?
FuelX replied to CrashPilot's topic in KSP2 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
TCAlex explained it well. I want to add emphasis on middle mouse button. Not just scrolling the wheel. Middle mouse button up/down, you have to press the button, keep it pressed and move the mouse up or down. Picture it like if you are dragging your rocket up and down. Middle mouse button click on a part to focus is the best. If the part your working on is in an akward position or orientation. Just middle click on it. It also works when you have parts of assemblies spread around in your VAB. -
Kbu, you're right, my previous observation was wrong. Upper stage leaking seams a bit random.
-
I restarted the game and rebuilt my rocket and the bug stopped. Edit: it's quite random, sometime stage separation works, sometimes it does'nt.
-
My finding s so far: The upper stage usualy leak once the lower stage is empty so it's possible to work around this simply by disconnecting stage just before the lower stage run out of fuel. This is tricky because there is no display of the remaining fuel in every tank. Both small and big rockets can leak. Sometimes, the whole upper stage is drained, sometimes only half. When the first stage is a single tank or almost empty, sometimes it does'nt leak. Maneuver nodes can help predict when the current stage is empty, it will display a "no fuel" warning. The stock kerbak-k1 prebuilt rocket did not leak at all. Displaying the staging sequence details (with the small arrow next to Launch) can help understand the problem. For example, staging sequence for my rocket vs stock k1:

Hi I have trouble with fuel draining from my upper stage. Fuel crossfeed is off. Also at stage separation remaining methane and/or oxidizer is not calculed properly. Is there a way to make sure my fuel will not drain into the first stage? Here first stage is almost empty : Looking at delta v, we already see there's something wrong and the upper stage leaked. Then stage separation, upper stage is only half full or half empty : My setup in the VAB: If you have any tips or workaround for this bug, it would be appreciated Thanks! Edit: To troubleshoot crossfeed, I made this testbed. Faster iterations and less kerbals stranded around the mun :

Hi, I found two bugs so far in KSP 1.1.1 unmodded (both 32 and 64 bits clients): 1) When I have a ship sitting on a RE-I5 skipper on the launch pad (for example a cockpit, two X200-32 and a RE-I5) with engine and SAS off, it starts wobbling more and more until it crash on the side. 2) Sometimes, in the upper atmosphere my SAS will go crazy (at around 40 000 m, 1000 m/s). It is difficult to reproduce, I will update my post if I find the cause. Edit: I could not isolate #2. I'm not sure if it is a bug. When a rocket can bend just enough, the SAS will overuse the engine's gimbals. Thanks, Felix Nicol
