Quoted you to get your attention, what should that island in the impact crater be called?
-
For me, KSP is an amazing space game I've been looking for forever. This was the keystone fitting between Spore and Spaceward Ho.
-
That was really long but it helped. To TD111, I have done gravity assist, I didn't know how to squeeze as delta v out of them as I could.
-
I was playing KSP, and I saw other people on YouTube getting encounters and then focusing on the planet to do gravity assits for speeding up or slowing down. I looked at the wiki. But it was really confusing, what side of planet for speeding up, and which one for slowing down.

So... I was thinking about the earlier thread I did on what class asteroid Dres Then I looked at the wiki-page on Gilly and it said it was a captured asteroid. So what class is Gilly? I decided to bust out the calculator! According to this page, the formula for asteroid mass by class is M=e^1.5*x x being the class M being mass ------------------------ This means you can get the class if you have the mass WARNING MATH AHEAD ________________________ Gilly weighs 1.2420512*10^17 kg or 1.2420512*10^14 metric tons 1.2420512*10^14=e^1.5*x Log(1.2420512*10^14= Log(e^1.5x 32.45 roughly 32.45/1.5= bout 21.63 Rounding up, 22 or V Gilly is a class V asteroid that looks like a mountainous potato. Yeah

Ultra low orbit of Jool, hard to get to, hard to get back!
-
Ran the mass in the asteroid class formula and got 26.6666... etc, hmmm.... hurricanes are cool and asteroids are cool, therefore the NOAA should have the final say on what class of asteroid should come after Z, 26.66666 is about 27 and the NOAA used greek alphabet letters after they had 26 hurricanes............. I DECLARE DRES A CLASS ALPHA ASTEROID!
-
Dres is 3.2191322*10^17 metric tons. I think that is more than class E...
-
Dres is really a big asteroid and I want to figure out what class it is.

For this challenge, the definition of "flyby" is entering the SOI of an orbiter and leaving into the SOI of the the parent body. This means you can't go on an Ike flyby and then go into orbit around Duna but say that you had a Duna and Ike flyby.
-
Getting into Kerbin orbit after coming in at 4 kilometers per second. Boy Duna-Kerbin transfer burn took 1900 delta V. Barely got into orbit.
-
The Kerbals have decided that landing on planets is not the way to go, after a horrifying Eve "Landing" that resulted in the death of 3 crew. Now after the successful PR campaign saying "flybys are better", the public is clamoring for a mission to have as many flybys as possible. Your task is to send a manned mission to have lots of flybys Of course some flybys are cooler than others, scoring is as follows Mun: 5 points Minmus: 10 points Duna: 15 points, 5 BP (bonus points) for upper atmosphere, 10 BP for lower atomsphere Ike: 5 points Dres: one point for visiting the fake "planet" Eve: 10 points, 10 BP for upper atmosphere, 20 BP for lower atmosphere Gilly:10 points Jool: 30 points, 20 BP for upper atmosphere, 40 BP for lower atmosphere For each of the moons of Jool, 10 points, no extra points for going in Laythe's atmosphere. All five Joolian moon flybys gets you 20 bonus points. You can have 2 launches for building your rocket, one for fueling it in orbit, and one to have ferry your kerbals down from KO to Kerbin NO ALT 12, MODS, beside mechjeb, and ker, OR K-DRIVES RANKS Space Wimp: get 15 or below points ---------------------------------------------- Cosmos Queen: get at lest 30 points ---------------------------------------------- Flyby Master: get at lest 100 points ---------------------------------------------- MAXIMUM FLYBY MASTER Get all 261 points --------------------------------------------- Good luck

Doing Munian, then this
-
My Jeb is in Kerbin orbit with no fuel, I did the Mün, Minmus, Ike, Duna orbit part of the Munian challenge. Then I came back, to Kerbin. Since I have my second launch for building a vessel in orbit, the final landing on Minmus shouldn't be a problem. But by killing him plus one more Kerbal, I can save delta v. HAHAHAHA!
-
I have no moral rules. The game mechanics mean people tend to end up in two camps. 1. Masters of voodoo SSTOs 2. Heartless people who cut costs be removing heatshields, parachutes, a return to Kerbin, etc

What is the biggest mission failure you have ever had?

Massive 1700 ton craft using asparagus staging with no struts, yeah, you guy know what happened next. -
Reflecting on the past: The old Mk1 cockpit
W. Kerman replied to HafCoJoe's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Boy, the old mk1 cockpit was ugly. Sorry, it had to be said. It didn't fit into my ships' profiles, and I was a newbie not enjoying all of this IVA when they made the change. But... It did look better on fighters, or at lease on crazed stock fighters I was making. Also, does anyone know a way to make a Mk 3 cockpit nose cone that looks nice while not using part clipping? -
Give me your favorite KSP ship names you've come up with?
W. Kerman replied to The Yellow Dart's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Onacle, my ill fated attempt at the Elcano challenge, it had a top speed of 200 m/s on land+ 30 m/s by sea. Features 1. Can make prophecies, ones predicting past events, and further ones 2. Can breakdance if physical time warp is used. 3. Has interesting, bizarre, problems which seem to change, disappear, etc. each time I use it. -
official Stress out the Devs! (and KSP)
W. Kerman replied to sal_vager's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
My dad just messed with my game... Oh no... He ended up making a craft with two opposing SRBs pointing at each other What happened next was crazy, engines can't run with time warp, but under normal conditions, you can't have time warp on because of UNDER ACCELERATION. My dad turned on/off the stationary SRBs with time warp -
Hmmm... Not sure, looked at map and it looks like it it would have a hard time growing crops without some irrigation.

Hops on kerbal maps... It is where cape hope is, maybe the Hope Mountain Range?

Grammar ( most commonly known fascist group that was in germany) moment, "too" not "To" "To" means, to quote MW dictionary ------------------------------------------- "Too" means to quote MW dictionary ------------------------------------------ —used to indicate the place, person, or thing that someone or something moves toward —used to indicate the place where someone participates in a particular activity —used to indicate the direction of something ----------------------------------------- : in addition : more than what is wanted, needed, acceptable, possible, etc. : to a high degree or extent : very or extremely ----------------------------------------- BTW I do do call the KSC's continent Kafrica

Doing Munian challenge, but saw this, AAAA! Too many challenges!
-
All right, I can only play ksp on weekends, so one mo week till I finish this!
-
I used an ion engine for my Moho trip. It was two 1-hour burns. That made me unhappy. Nuke engines for the win!
