  1. Cargo bay will be "somewhat" empty. I also plan to use these missions to test improvements in docking and shuttle reusability. I still have quite a bit of work to do on the station and several small reusability modifications for the shuttle. Hopefully I will be able to make "minilab" look a bit more authentic.
  2. @michal.don, in regards to the STS-5-8 missions I have a question. Does the above (work-in-progress) craft qualify as a station? It has one service module with a reaction wheel, engine, and RCS system, one habitat module, and two science modules. See above screenshots. I know most users build enormous stations just for the sake of it, but I generally enjoy building on the other side of the spectrum. Just for kicks I think it would be fun to place a small "station" in a very high orbit. Is that still OK?
  3. If you lived where I live you would know that summer isn't nearly over. Nice challenge! I think I may actually participate if I can find the right time.
  4. I don't use any female pilots. Their high-pitched squeal of a voice in chatterer annoys me.
  5. I could explain it now but it would take a long time to type. I'm already working on STS-4R so I'll explain it with captioned screenshots when I'm finished.
  6. I have a question. On STS-4R is docking with the target shuttle allowed? Or should I simply rendezvous and transfer the crew via EVA? On a different note I also made some changes to my shuttle's secondary booster, mainly to improve ascent stability. Here's a sneak peak.

  8. You are correct. I have edited the rule to more clearly communicate my meaning. Thank you for bearing with me. This particular rule was somewhat confusing in that it was in the original challenge, but disappeared in the version 1.1 & 1.2.x reboot. In any case, it was part of the original and now it's here to stay. Your Nano-Diamond attempt is looking great! I'll be looking forward to seeing future progress reports.

  10. I'm not trying to cause you extra work for no reason, but challenge rules do explicitly state that KER is not permitted. Trying to build a Caveman Tylo lander boggles my mind. I'll be looking forward to seeing what you come up with.

  13. It's only a bugfix and doesn't affect gameplay. Go ahead and use it if you need to. There is no real reason to leave Kerbin's SOI in a difficulty level below Topaz. Visiting another planet's SOI will get you the "Order of the Trilobite" though. The trouble is it is very difficult to perform a transfer to another planet without any manuever nodes. If a ripoff similar challenge were started for that, I'm afraid there would be very few entries. In addition, it would be like starting a spin-off of the jool-5 challenge for users who only landed on Bop. If you are interested in trying a harder difficulty level, take screenshots documenting your attempt and I will be able to add you to the cave wall.
  14. Looks great! You need to get rid of KER immediately though. It is a specifically disallowed mod.
  15. I'm just going to allow all tech from green meanie monoliths. There is no way to control what nodes you end up with, so there is a good possibility that you could end up with a useless tech node. In addition, most green meanie monoliths are very difficult to even reach let alone locate with low tech probe cores. (A Caveman's best core, the Probodyne OKTO only has a 6% detection chance, the lowest of any core in the game) By far the easiest to get are the monoliths on Minmus and Gilly, because both moons are relatively small and have no other anomalies. Kerbin and the Mun's green meanie monoliths are extremely difficult to find because they are mixed in with many other anomalies and both celestial bodies are quite large. It's literally looking for a needle in a haystack trying to locate them with low-tech probe cores. That leaves only one "easily" accessible green monolith; the one on Minmus. All others either require a huge amount of effort to find or an inter-planetary transfer with no manuever nodes. If you can find it, go for it. P.S. I triumphed over the forum glitch and managed to update the leader-board.
