When I was developing my C Type shuttles this was an issue I came across also. How I managed to solve it was very simple, and did not take any major re-design. I simply had the shuttle in the spaceplane hangar, drained all the fuel out (you do re-entry empty like a glider, right?) and aligned the COM and COL correctly for empty flying. When taking the 40t Mullet Dyne fuel pod down from LKO (still not landed it on the runway hence no mission log or badge yet) I put the shuttle into the spaceplane hangar, put the fuel pod into the shuttle (note - the shuttle tanks were empty) and adjusted the COM/COL again. It is important not to underestimate the effects of correct COM/COL balance. If your spaceplane does re-entry with fuel left inside the tanks (say for jets?) then be aware that again the COM/COL may need to be aligned for re-entry, and that also the COM can move up and down as well as forwards and backwards. In this case you will need a balancer engine to manually adjust the thrust limiter to keep the aircraft stable. I am assuming a certain degree of knowledge in the explanation, but if you are in doubt what I mean, put simply - MOVE THE WINGS FORWARDS OR BACKWARDS, UP OR DOWN, PLAY WITH THE ENGINE/THRUST ALIGNMENT - FIND THE BALANCE!! Since I got my head around this aspect of aircraft design it has opened up a whole new world of design ideas to me, and I hope you find the same

Apologies From Andetch "Sorry, we believe Gene accidentally released a military prototype as a civilian aircraft. All sales of the Enduro are now canceled. Apologies from all of us here on the board of Andetch Industries for any loss of time. However, we are please to announce the civilian version of the Enduro, dubbed "Chalduro". The range is estimated at up to 4,500KM, cruising at 6,500 metres at 200m/s. There are many variants planned The superb low speed handling of this aircraft make it ideal for short cliff to runways, and very steep downhill runways, and we are sure many airlines visiting smaller, harder to fly into airports will appreciate this one. We are also pleased to announce that two other new airframes have completed initial test flights, and will be available for Kerbal Airlines to. Registered Andetch contractor test pilots will be able to fly our prototypes. Both are designed to sit in the Jumbo Jet class, however one will also be capable of high altitude supersonic cruise. Thank you for your time". ------- Andetch Kerman, CEO and Owner of Andetch Industries. Chalduro - Legal Turbo Prop Entry (Sorry, I should stop playing way into the night! Reading is hard when tired.....) https://kerbalx.com/Andetch/Andetch-Type-KAT-Chalduro View post on imgur.com ">View post on imgur.com">Album will appear when post is submitted Day Fury et-Jumbo Jet for airlines to beta test. (First entry in class no? I am sill in the process of fine tuning this entry, also one more Night Fury Variant to come, that also sits in this class) https://kerbalx.com/Andetch/Andetch-Type-HKT-Day-Fury View post on imgur.com ">View post on imgur.com">Album will appear when post is submitted Also, what (if any) autopilot mods do you use for testing purposes in this challenge? It would be handy so I can fine tune things! Thanks! Loving it, FYI - in case you hadn't guessed!

My craft would all be latest version too! So I can not upload on to you, but as @Rocket In My Pocket says, it is more fun in game to ask for advice building your own lifter/sky crane set-up. Personally I would make three separate vehicles, one to deliver parts to LKO, one to shuttle parts between LKO and LMO, and one to land the parts on the mun. It is sometimes easier and cheaper (but more time consuming) to use multiple vehicles, rather than an all in one style. The reason for this is simplicity - each of the three does one thing, an one thing very well; rather than lots of things not very well. Does that make sense? If in doubt about building a lifter, there are four main things to look out for: Doesn't lift? Moar Engines! Doesn't go far enough? Moar fuel! (this can mean repeating step 1 also, to counter for added fuel weight) Doesn't control? Moar reaction wheels/fins! (Also, placement position can make a huge difference! Just by moving the control surfaces I have shaved off 30m/s from takeoff speeds of planes) Breaks apart? Moar struts! (Also auto strutting correctly can prevent a breakup). If using mechjeb, you can see the DeltaV stats of the ship before you launch. About 3,000m/s i usually enough for a good pilot to get to LKO, then another 1,000m/s or so getting to the mun, and I guess another 1000m/s for landing and return to LMO. So staged, if MJ says it has the delta V then it is a pilot issue, as long as you have followed the above four rules of construction. . I also find looking at kerbalx (but not necessarily downloading) very good for inspiration! https://kerbalx.com/ (note to readers - the delta v readings quoted are approximations to demonstrate the idea, and not intended to be 100% accurate)

Docking stuff on the mun surface is tricky. I did it, when I needed to land a base in career mode and the one I designed didn't have enough LF in it and it seemed easier to just dock another base onto it - seemed easier. You gotta be so accurate in landing firstly..... To send the craft files, look inside the ksp game folder, saves> SAVENAME>ships>vab/sph and then upload the craft file to kerbalX or google drive

Important Update from Andetch RE: Type HSKT/HSKT-EL Someone in our sales department has informed the engineers that the maximum required lift-off speed was lower than what we stated the HSKT capable of. Please note, we have made some minor aerodynamic changes, and updated them into the Kerbal X showroom. Please note that the new minimum lift-off speed for HSKT is now >80m/s. You must withdraw the flaps immediately after lift-off with action key 1. The HSKT-EL will still require slightly more liftoff speed, but we know (hope) that due to the rate of acceleration, it is capable of hitting this speed on small runways. We also have taken some videos of her being put through her paces by Andetch Test Pilots. Thank You. (AS per 14:18 28/NOV/17 UTC KerbalX files are correct - sorry for being a dumbass and uploading the wrong one!)
-
I have designed things that put over 100t into LKO. I have tugs etc that can pull it to the mun.... Think about getting it to orbit first, then tugging it.. heck, even a massive straight up, turn left design can work if you're stuck!
-
Of the payload you have designed? Also, is it for a career mode game? Because tech level can be an annoyance.

I tested the range to a true 1,500 ground distance covered. Not sure if I got the maths correct in calculating the range in line with the rules? I also note she is not quite hypersonic, however she does exceed speed requirements by a factor of above 3.5 edit. Yeah, dumbass checked the maths again for range and corrected. 29/nov/17 *pictured is the prototype aircraft. The released version has 100 extra LF and some nuclear generators for ground electricity. *Take-offspeed quoted is for the basic model only. Enjoy your flight!

Can you post the craft file?
-
What sort of size payload? Mun orbit or surface? Is it for a career mission? I might be able to help... Please provide more details. Also, have you checked kerbalx?

Ok fine, you caught me,I lied. I didn't fly it SSTO. You can drag the empties all the way up to LKO if you like, but probably better to release the cargo before AP.

The Manta SSTO Looks like a Kerbin Manta Ray. Carries a whole, load of tourists, and minimal cargo. Can takeoff from the runway or from the pad. Strange looking thing, but it does fly. Make sure to release the auxiliary fuel tank after 10KM.Open the back end, and press backspace! Kerbal X: https://kerbalx.com/Andetch/Andetch-Shuttle-Type-X2-Manta

Tourists! Ever needed a way to blast a whole load of tourists off round the mun? Andetch has the answer. The safest way to travel! Simply called tourists, it is purpose designed to make money. Dual landing facilities ensure safety at all times. Some say the fact that usually the passenger capsule survives heavy, nose first style landings, it actually has three landing modes, but paying tourists tend to disagree! It can SSTO without the SRB, or visit the moons with SRB. Add docking port to be compatible with standard style landers. I have an issue moving onto STS-2 mission. In my first mission I placed the MUD tank perfectly, and even docked with the tank after to complete systems set-up and place it into a very precise orbit. Since then, my attempts to send the sats up (got WAY too many geosync sats now!) have been successful, and in trying to get the fuel pod, I have crashed into it so many times the orbit is no longer perfect.... I have however shot the pod down using an ICBM, landed it using a chute probe carried up by the shuttle etc. etc. Must I have the pod back inside the shuttle to qualify for landing it?

Andetch Type C Shuttles In the Type C Shuttle range, you will find a fleet of easy to control shuttles. Just balance the thrust with the COM by using the limiter on the lower stage engine. They all come equipped with a payload designed to put Kerbals into a Mun/Min orbit. It is possible to land on Minimus, and return to orbit, but not back to the shuttle in LKO. This is why there is a supplementary tank that can be deployed to refuel the rover for the return to LKO. Also is an empty shuttle for you to put a payload directly into (maybe someone will take up and complete the discontinued "mini-miner" payload, and post it here? Andetch Shuttles come in many variants. with the EL (Even Longerer) and Heavy being very popular. Re-entry couldn't be simpler, you have enough control to leave SAS off until the last moment, recover the shuttle and land! Enjoy exploring the Kerbin System, Pilot! https://kerbalx.com/hangars/22952 -

The Widow Maker SSTO This craft was developed and perfected over a long time. It spawned other craft in the process of getting it to work. Check the KerbalX hangar to see some others! The Craft You will spin out. You will flip. You will get the hang of it, and achieve SSTO, back to KSC runway. You might want to remember to actually start the recorder before that one time in hundreds that you made it Possible prize for someone else who can do it - you do it, I pay a designer to make you a badge! Just never, ever allow the nose to go farther than 10 degrees from central prograde. EDIT: Take-off/lift speed is around 275m/s, however end of runway speed is around 250m/s - but don't worry, you will get the hang of it, just don't pull up too hard! Andetch Craft Hanger It has taken me ages to get this latest craft flying properly, and boy does she fly well! I am going to use this post to add all of my creations into one place - hope you don't mind seeing them! All will be available via KerbalX, and any craft added here will be "complete", on KerbalX you will find some proto-types also. I really like to hear from people if I have made any dumb design mistakes, so I can correct them and constantly evolve the ships into the best forms they possibly can be! I would also encourage other people to share their craft here, that may be in need of some evolution too! The Andetch X Series Team may be able to help? I look for ward to hearing what you all think 1) Andetch Shuttle Type X "Sloh-Kly-Mah" https://kerbalx.com/Andetch/Andetch-Shuttle-Type-X-Sloh-kly-mah Gallery: https://imgur.com/a/i7Gy3
