  1. I like that idea, but i wonder if one could design a plane that could flip automatically as the fuel gets depleted and CoM shifts forward backward.
  2. I really like your landers. I never considered flying without reaction wheels. as I usually have some docking involved.
  3. I proudly announce that Bob brought 3125 Science from Moho SOI
  4. Bob finished the Moho mission yesterday: here is the full album at imgur, but all the important stuff is in the Spoiler below Orbital assembly Kerbin -> Moho Transfer Landing and roving on Moho Return to Kerbin For the Moho landing an return I Choose to upgrade the Launch pad and the VAB Going for MOAR Booster instead of maneuver nodes.
  5. today I learned one thing: Moho is the wrong place for a rover however, in an alternative reality the rover is survived the downhill trip from highlands to midlands, and Bob is on his way home again. I will upload the mission report tomorrow.
  6. To be honest, I only landed on Eve, Laythe, Mun and Minmus before (didn't return from Eve). All my previous career saves ended with a station on the way to Duna or Eve, due to the lack of a real goal. Even my gravity assists (which I made plenty) only got me in Eve and Jool SOI. I really like that this challenge it gives a very good reason to visit all of the bodies, and I have a lot of fun. I will send a rover to Moho, because I will need a lot of science, to research all the tech needed for a Eve return and hopefully a Jool-5 mission. And why should I bother visiting a body twice? And somehow all the time a Kerbal comes around and wants to land on a new planet or moon. You may guessed it, I am planning to go manned for every new landing.
  7. Today I spent the whole evening designing the craft for my upcoming Moho mission: The craft will be assembled in orbit, consisting of 4 Launches with 30 parts each. For the Dres landing and return I did upgrade the R&D and the Astronaut complex, to get those valuable surface samples and a command seat.
  8. Do you have the latest Version of KSP installed? Current version is 1.3 If you use Steam, and just updated to 1.3 I would guess there are some old mods. I suggest to delete or move all of your KSP files and obtain a new clean copy. then make sure the clean copy works before you start modding the install. If you use Steam I higly recommende to copy the new install somewehre else on your PC. Only mod the copy and not the original Steam data, because Steam would brake your install wit the next KSP update.

1048576 why should I bother using a calculator?
  10. I am not sure but I think I have seen this on the Community Tech Tree.
  11. 908 Science from Dres SOI !!! I upgraded the R&D center, after the mission.
  12. I made decent progress: I finished my first ever mission to Dres SOI. Valentina successfully landed on Dres and returned to Kerbin with a mission time of 12 years and 213 days. Mission Report: I added Better Time Warp Continued to my mod list
  13. 417 Science from Duna SOI. I'm not sure which nodes to unlock next, but the next stop is Moho Dres. That should be a whole lot easier because I have patched Conics and can launch up to 140t an 30 parts. Edit: I figured that Moho is not a very good destination for a low tech mission, due to its high dV requirement. Dres should be way easier... I guess. I never landed on Moho or Dres before.
  14. Today I finished my Duna mission. Jeb landed on Duna, Ike and after 5 years and 106 days safely back on Kerbin. While Jeb was waiting for the Duna transfer window, I was busy working on a spreadsheet to calculate orbital periods and fuel requirement for the ejection burn. Mission report:
  15. @linuxgurugamer I loadet your save file into KML. It just looks like a simple desingn flaw of your vessel, and there is nothing to repair: the docking port is attached to a interstage node of the fairing. We can see this ingame aswell: The decoupler is only attached to the probe and not to the fairing The decouple Node option is available It might even be "correct" when you get close and magnetic forces set in, but for some reason the docking won't complete. Edited 3 hours ago by Kobymaru Or if the Docking port is attached, but not to a other docking port.
  16. But the other doking port should as well have the state PreAttached, and I guess dockUId schould be available if the docking port has PreAttached state.
  17. Did you try this? Back in 1.1 I used it to repair a docking port. I will start up my Windows-VM later and see what KML thinks about your save file.
  18. @linuxgurugamer welcome to the challenge. The last time I checked there was nothing about any launch restrictions in the rules. I think no one would complain about multiple launches, as the challenge is hard enough. I'm looking Forward to see your mission report.
  19. Here we go, I made some more progress: As I obviously can't compete in the lowest ingame-time category I guess i will try to unlock the tech tree with a low number of Missions/launches
  20. Some more progress: I made one more science mission to high Kerbin orbit, and assembled my Duna mission in orbit. The Duna mission consist of a Duna lander and a Ike lander which will bring Jeb back home. And three drop-tanks.
  21. well, that was not a reentry, as i left Kerbin SOI again. but i think that is pretty much the limit. I will see if I can find the save somewhere. Edit: I found the save should work with stock KSP1.2.2: https://www.dropbox.com/s/w2nahhz1mww7f1t/quicksave %232.sfs?dl=0 Pe of 37Km seems to be the limit with the engine and everything attached and 36Km if you decouple the engine section prior to reentry. I experience a Bug where the RCS thrusters don't explode if reenter with the engine section attached, but the certainly explode if I decouple. That actually means I was able to do my first Entry to the challenge because of this bug .
  22. Well, I guess I have to upgrade the R&D center and unlock the whole Tech Tree before I visit Mun and Minmus and therefore complete "Munless Night" prior to "Caveman"
  23. Edit: Mods - [X] Science! - KAC - KER -- only in VAB so far
  24. Hello all together, I decided to take on this challenge and combine it with the Munless Night Challenge . So I guess it will take a while So far, i made my first 5 missions: Mission 1: very standard first hop Mission 2: First Orbit Mission 3/4: 2 Suborbital hops to get to some Biomes Mission 5: The longest mission so far took me into a solar orbit for a couple of hours and gave me a whopping 216 science points. Edit: Mods - [X] Science! - KAC - KER -- only in VAB so far
  25. Hi cliffdover, Welcome to the Forums. As mentiond by others, carrer mode is a good start, but I think science mode is even better to lern the basics. it is essentially the same as carrer, but you don't have to worry about or Reputation. And there is stillt the goal to unlock the tech tree. Edit: By the way: this sort of topic/question is best suited for the "Gameplay Questions and Tutorials" subforum
