I should have added that competition forces companies to improve. See, spaceX forced a whole new generation of rockets. The soviets forced NASA to improve to saturn V.
-
That is why we should have specialized rockets for specialized jobs, a one-size-fit-all does not work, and modular designs are complicated by the fact that they are modular and thus need connecting to other modules.
-
Payload of space shuttle is 27500kg. Payload of falcon heavy is 57000kg recovered. Space shuttle can carry 7 to 8 astronauts. Dragon 2 can carry 6 to 7 people. ISS modules launched by space shuttle can be done by delta IV.
-
Well, the cost per kg of space shuttle was 10000, that of altas/delta/ariane is 5000, that of spaceX is 2300 for falcon 9
-
I think that is why nasa failed the space shuttle, and spaceX succeeded in falcon 9

Imagine sticking fins to the second stage under the fins of the dragon and above the fins of F9 first stage. Breaking records of most fins on a single rocket that is not designed to generate lift. -
I have a problem regarding rocket launcher turrets. How to set the rockets themselves to fire at 1600 RPM by default? I tried messing with the .cfg, but nothing happens.
-
1. You have to use MM v 3.0.7, check PRE version for the ksp v 1.4.5 compatible one. 2. The hitpoint bug is known on github, but thank you for trying to ooint this out.

Tethers? Anyone?
Xd the great replied to Pistache's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
"Lets drill holes into our spacecraft!" "Lets ride a 2000 tonn exploding machine to space!" Still, tethers will be nice, when you kerbal accidentally eva during reentry. -

It might be something that your computer is inputing without your keyboard. Try keeping your keyboard closer. -
For Questions That Don't Merit Their Own Thread

Well, if antimatter and matter meet, kaboom. End of story. So antimatter can still go kaboom with electrons, through quantumn tunneling. This is a fairly stupid question, so it does not deserve its own thread. What language do deaf people hear when they talk in their hearts? Or do they see sign language? -
I can't play Kerbal.

Any chance of a slow or ram filled computer? New log or output required. -

When you are docking, is the RCS aligned with the CoM and did you have SAS on? -
Yeah, but their TWR can be less than 1, which means it is less suicidal in landing those.

Probably not. The parafoil for fairings is already a super duper pain in the ***. SpaceX has failed quite a number of times with its world class engineerers. And the empty stage weights much more than a fairing. -
Yeah, space shuttle glided. Falcon 9 did a supersonic retropropulsion on the flames on its engine.

"Hopefully not obliterating the ISS at orbital speeds" -
I would like to see that myth. Any links? The launch cost of falcon 9 is 60 million for 6 tonnes to ISS, lower than that of a soyuz, and much much lower than that of a space shuttle. Agreed. Why use space shuttle compartments when the entire thing is just a saturn v?

Yes, safety is important. But spaceX has done the impossible of reusing boosters, and that has made people believe in the dreams of spaceX.

I wipl be surprised that LOP-G actually receives continuous funding from the Congress. There is space force incoming.
