I'm assuming you need it for TAC Life Support? It is the only mod I know of that has CO2. I don't use it myself (but will when I get bored with my current game) so I wouldn't know if it has such a part included... if it hasn't their forum thread might be the best place to ask. Else I suggest you have a look at how the O2 capture air-intakes of TACLS work. The tricky part is that air intakes only work on Kerbin and Laythe, those atmospheres have oxygen (and therefor TAC can harvest it). You'd need some extra programming to make something Duna specific. Again, the TACLS thread might be your best option.

Poll: Which download service do you prefer?
OrtwinS replied to OrtwinS's topic in KSP1 Mods Discussions
Bad taste, sorry. It was a slightly trollish option. For those of us who liked the 18+ mal-ware-minefield ads. And the poll is now multiple choice. -
Anyone Else Recently Build A Bad@** PC in Reponse to upcoming 1.1?
OrtwinS replied to scribbleheli's topic in The Lounge
Do you still have a use/need for that old system? @scribbleheli, I think people came a bit hard on you because the first post seems to imply you build that monster PC for KSP only, which would have been quite the overkill. Since it isn't a complete new PC, but a continious build and you actually use it for other stuff all those objections don't matter. Great machine! -
Anyone Else Recently Build A Bad@** PC in Reponse to upcoming 1.1?
OrtwinS replied to scribbleheli's topic in The Lounge
Nope, I'm actually curious to see how my aging notebook will handle KSP 1.1. Bought in Q2 2011, so almost 5 years old. ASUS N53SV with i7 2630QM (2-2.9 GHz), GT540m, and 10 GB of RAM Originally it had 6 GB RAM, last year I put in another 4 because running multiple COMSOL instances together eats RAM. I replaced the keyboard because several keys had become unresponsive (lost too many kerbals when the 's' key stopped responding), the rest is still original. It runs Civ V, GTA V, KSP, Prison Architect, Space Engineers... I have no need for anything new yet. The longer I wait the better my options get. -
[1.4.x] Contract Pack: Tourism Plus [v1.5.2] [2016-12-14]
OrtwinS replied to nightingale's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
He quoted a comment of mine that was slightly derailing another topic. So it came a bit out of the blue here. Yes, he (and I think I'll second the request) would like to have tourist contracts that have time-based sub-objectives with a negative cash payout. In his example, 50k to get someone to minmus, and -10k penalties for delaying the return past certain thresholds. The delays can vary, some people want to visit Minmus and be 'back for dinner', others don't mind extended stays. This in order to stimulate a better customer care (and not let them wait for months just because one doesn't happen to have a handy transfer vessel at hand). @suicidejunkie I don't think vessel value is a good indicator for 'quality of hostel' though. For that I suggest mods such as KeepFit, or some of the other life support systems.- 699 replies

Poll: Which download service do you prefer?
OrtwinS replied to OrtwinS's topic in KSP1 Mods Discussions
@JamesL86, interesting. I never had the Kerbal Stuff registration thing pester me. Maybe it's a cookie setting? The unfortunate part of CKAN is that it misses a few mods I can't go without (UbioWelding, Kerbal engineer ). Making it a mismatch of auto-update and manual update. And yes, I now realise I should have added CKAN to the options. -
If you are using the suggested wheel method. Be sure to empty all fuel tanks. Saves you a lot of weight. Also, remove any non-essential parts. Batteries, small antenna's, science stuff. Empty cargo bays and so on. If you want to limit future lag, remove anything that isn't a significant visual part of your display.

It's a matter of personal curiosity. I'd love you to tell me why, but if it'll lead to heated arguments because service X is hell or Y is heaven, don't. I prefer Kerbal Stuff, because I'm a supporter of community initiatives and open source projects. Also, it has a clean and functional user interface which pleases my eyes.

Would you have to reimburse them when they have to wait a few months in an uncontrolled Minmus 'station' consisting of a lander can + heatshield + chutes? Just until a 'real' mission passes by and can bump them to a Kerbin suborbital trajectory. Or would that be 'extended bonus stay in authentic astronaut hostel with spectacular view'? Seriously, I'm all for crew saleries. But tourists should only pay up to a certain amount, to discourage sending a mk3 crew storage with minimum power to Minmus and use it as a money tap. PS, a ski resort on Minmus is a bad idea, since skiing is powered by gravity, you'll never get up to speed there. My apologies. *facepalm* rocket skis. Thank you KSK

Patched conics and maneuvre nodes. 1) Solar rendezvous with Class E astroid 2) Plan half a dozen low-dv maneuvres to slingshot/gravity assist/brake the thing to anywhere. 3) Watch a huge astroid shear by Mun with a Pe of ~20 km to insta-plane change and capture it

Building a Space Station into an Asteroid
OrtwinS replied to Zosma Procyon's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
Can't build IN them. You can only attach stuff using the claw, or KAS if you don't want to claw-jitter your station apart. (I'm currently in the process of dragging a Class E in LKO to function as refuel/crew transfer/research station. The part count will probably kill my fps, but I'm betting on 1.1 to keep it playable when finished. If not, I'll just reorder the station modules to be stand alone, and mine the astroid dry.) -
Welcome! Are you implying there is an incorrect way to play KSP? If so, dear Arochio, be advised Clif lied to you .

Will I be able to monkey with the files on ps4 or Xbox 1
OrtwinS replied to 322997am's topic in KSP1 Discussion
No. Consoles are closed. Like @BloodDusk said, allowing anyone to alter anything on a console poses a security risk. No mods, no save-file editing (unless you jump through hoops like @r4pt0r mentioned). -
*sigh*, "EVA to extend PV array..." [The above does certainly NOT refer to any recent emberrassing events where Dodock Kerman had to (ab)use a minmus lander to rendezvous with an approaching unmanned station module to ensure control authority for the minmus capture burn.]

Don't pin me down on this, but from what I understood it's because of the direction of the other orbits. These small 'dirty ice balls' orbits are all pointed in more or less random directions, they are all so small they don't really influnce each other that much and therefore can go pretty much any orbit they want. However, they found that on one side of the solar system there are none of these objects, which seems to indicate that some other (heavy) object might/must have cleared that space. Assuming that in the course of billions of years all other small objects in the same region have gotten flung further out or in the solar system. Something like this? I also highly recommend Googling 'tin foil man'. I second the request though, I'd love to see an original first-generation Kerbal (Kerbo?).

Reading that thread is very entertaining and educational! Very interesting to read why (and how) certain features were implemented. Too bad the suggestion of a movable nav-ball never made it.

Currently at 308. Only noticed the counter recently, I usually click the shortcut, skip to some forum reading, and swap back when I hear the music.

Silly question is it cheating to use user made .craft ships?
OrtwinS replied to Cloakedwand72's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Yes, it is. Even daring to look at the forum/Reddit/anything for inspiration/tips/tricks for rocket building is horribly wrong. You must do everything by yourself, by hand, without the aid of any calculator (use pen and paper! just like the TRUE rocket scientists did back in the 40's!). You MUST build your own rockets. Squad should remove the save-craft feature as well, reusing old designs is horrible cheating! Like this? -
I agree, the characters are indeed very much like normal people ;). The books are about the roots of society, and the way it develops depending on history, tradition and flawed individuals. The characters only provide windows, through wich we are allowed a brief glimses of the motivations and subjective experiences of all kinds of mundane and pivotal events. Together, they shape a thought-provoking epic chronicle of humanities greatest undertaking to insure its survival (ie doubling our chances by terraforming and colonizing a second planet). Even though very few individuals actually live/work with that in mind. Which points back to the way culture and society devolop. Have influence and are influenced by (for and individual) unrelated choices and instances. Where as we, the reader, can connect the dots of the greater whole.

*crawls out of hiding* I cried. I laughed. Bring on the Age of Fire! Now I'm going to reread the Mars trilogy (K.S. Robinson).

Question about the 1.1 update
OrtwinS replied to Algiark's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
... demonstrated and proven ridiculous bad code ... ... the current code is a demonstration of wasted CPU cycles...
That is quite a choice of wording. Can you link to the research? Sounds like an interesting read. -

But... BOOMs are good...? Right?

Call the men in the white coats, this one is ready for the fruit-cake department. Single ticked to the loony bin! That was a short career.
