  1. Simple enough. Your post should be what you reckon Jeb just saw. Everything from a wacky fiction to a somber fact. Doesn't matter whether you made it up or it actually happened in your game, all stories are valid. If it did happen in game and you want to show pictures, please pop them in spoilers so as to not take up too much space on the page. So, What did your JEB just see? ( should be obvious, but just for safety, make sure it is something that is safe for young members to read.)
  2. Hello all! I have just completed building the ship Hail Mary from Mr. Weir's latest novel. Now, obviously there are some inaccuracies, one of the most glaring of which I will detail below. (!SPOILERS TO FOLLOW!) The ship in the novel was powered by an alien micro-organism called Astrophage, emitting infrared light at the 25.984 micron frequency. To simulate this I have simply included a transmission module from KSP's interstellar extended mod (henceforth referred to as KSP I-E) in my engine module which was incorporated in the config file of one of their lasers. Then, I added in a new resource labeled "Astrophage", with the approximate density of a cell (even more spoilers; in Weir's book a huge panspermia event occurred at Tau Ceti which means that all living organisms have the same rough properties and hence, same structures.) I then incorporated this new resource into the fuel tanks provided by KSP I-E, and voila! I now added the fuel tanks to fit the correct volume as specified by Weir. Except... not really. For some reason the fuel tanks only hold about 900 tons of fuel as opposed to the 2,000 they should. Despite following Weir's details as closely as I could ("largest diameter they could launch was about 4 meters... three fuel tanks side by side... estimate they take up about 75 percent of the ship's volume), I find that Astrophage has to be either too dense to be a reasonable cell or, more likely, I have messed the proportions up. With all that ranting out of the way, I will below post Mr. Weir's Hail Mary specifications as opposed to my vessel. Weir's ship specifications: Dry mass 100 tons, wet mass 2100 tons, delta-v 0.92c (acceleration to and deceleration from), 3 crew, induced comas, "a few months" of food supplies, 125m^3 internal habitable volume, ~500m^3 total volume My adaptation's specifications: Dry mass 104 tons, wet mass 1012 tons, delta-v not yet measured accurately due to time, DeepFreeze chambers (which Weir unfortunately explicitly said DO NOT EXIST on his ship.. grr.. are there any other mods that can simulate reduced consumption of resources while not eliminating it completely?), 70m^3 internal volume, 7 months of air and ~4 months of food/water for 3 crew. More details to follow on the layout shortly. Thank you all for your time reading this, and I welcome any feedback or input from any fellow readers to try to improve the design replication!
  3. The Dawn We Left At A KSP War Story (By: @Mukita12) For the last five years, tension between the Republic of Hartfordia and the United Striabar State arose to a near highest level after Hartfordian government accused the Striabar government for inhumane acts against people with Hartfordienne background, even going so far as kidnapping Hartfordia's own citizen. It was only a matter of time before war broke up between the two of them and finally on December 16th, 2021, The Hartfordian military launched a surprise lighting warfare attack on the Striabarian Government. Will the Invasion succeeded? Will the personnels from all three branches of FANRH destroy the threat in southern region of Kerbin? From the world of MWRP Geopolitical Server, Mukita12 will bring you war story filled with Action, Sacrifice, Glory, and Honor. Chapter Prologue The Rumbling Thunder Chapter One Here Comes the Cavalry Chapter Two Delay More chapter to come Author's Note: Greetings Kerbonaut, this is Mukita12 here. After reading @DarkOwl57's World War K, Battle of Kerbin and other of his war series. I'm inspired to write this kind of story as well, and the fact that i'm currently having war in the Nation RP that i'm in (which is where the maps from the above comes from) also inspired me to write a story. I will try to make this as semi-realistic as possible whilst also making it casual and Kerbal Friendly. My estimation would be that i probably post a chapter once every two or three weeks. If you guys want a semi spoiler, there will be 2 major character in the story. An Infantry grunt who is a member of the mechanized force and a tank commander, who's part of the armoured spearhead
  4. What's the concept about? The main Idea comes from a fictionalized type of environment mixed with real world assets, NASA, ESA and others. But my main inspiration came from a fellow use in the Forum and Filmmaker @Aluminum Oxide (Highly recommend watching his KSP Videos, they are very fun and also have story in them!) Aluminum used alot of real world assets in his videos along with his creativity and storyline which created a very nice environment for his videos, Overall It's a mix between Real-Life and Alternate History. What mods are being used? As the Mod's list is pretty big, I'm only going to list the main ones that I'm using; -CX Aerospace | For the Station Parts -Habtech 1 (Keep In mind that I'm using some very old mods, and I highly recommend that you do not install these on your KSP) -Real Scale Boosters -Phoenix Industries | For the Space Suits, Greenhouse and other Rocket parts. -Near Future Solar | For the shiny solar panels! The reason that I use some old mods is mainly because my laptop is not very powerful to run Graphic Intesive/Texture Intesive ones, Although some of them are actually up-to-date and can be used normally on 1.8.1-1.9.1. Inspiration and Credits I would like to credit @Aluminum Oxide for not only the Storywriting but also the Crafts that he built in KSP since they're pretty awesome! Check out his Youtube Channel; https://www.youtube.com/c/AluminumOxide/videos (You should also check his Wiki too, It contains alot of stuff from his KSP Storyline.) Enough Information for now, Let's get onto the Lore... It is the Year 2002, Daniel Carmack, Founder and CEO of NeXT Computing intiated a Private Alliance of which many countries and Agencies can take part of. John McNathan, a rich investor from the Sillicon valley decides to be the first Commercial crew-member of the Project and is set to be aboard no longer than 2009, once work is done on the Station. Also with this many countries such as, USA, Russia, Canada, Brazil, United Kingdom, South Korea have clarified that they are going to be involved in the Project. The Infrastructure is set up in a way that allows it to not only be a Research Laboratory but also a Workshop and Workspace for various uses, either for Biology, Medicine, Engineering as part of the work environment. Although there have been many setbacks, most resources are available and cost less than they used too back in the Skylab/Mir Era. In July 17th of 2003 a meeting was held with the Administrators of each Agency, all countries and Agencies agreed that each one would cooperate into making sure that the project was viable and had a solid foundation. And so In the year 2005, Daniel Carmack founded Oracle Aerospace which would take care of building Private modules and a major part of the Space Station which would be named " Odyssey Space WorkStation ". In the Same Year, NASA and Oracle Aerospace are currently preparing to launch the first module on the Saturn IB Rocket on a Mission named " A New Odyssey " . Odyssey Core Module | In-Construction - 07/02/2005 For those who like my Story, consider sharing or even commenting, I'll be sure to answer questions when I can!
  5. The president Kerman entered the room. Each of his steps were resonating until he sat at the briefing table with all the ministers. He didn't said "hello". Instead the following went out of his mouth. "Boys. And Girls. We need to learn to fly." And then he left. A few weeks later, the first test plane build by Jeb's Junkyard and Jebediah was ready to take off. Fig-1 Jebediah's Flyer I The plane didn't leave the strip. And slightly get out of the runway ... when suddenly the plane, well .. the thing, exploded. Jebediah escaped unarmed the accident. A few weeks later, again, a second Flyer was ready. This plane benefited from the mistakes of the first one. Fig-2 Jebediah's Flyer II Jebediah get high, I mean he reached a high altitude, nobody knows really, we still haven't invented the altimeter at this time, but sure he got high. Too high and ran out of gas. He attempted a landing, a soft one but mostly failed. Mostly because the pilot seat and Jebediah were still intact after landing. Fig-3 Jebediah in what's left of the Flyer II But this day was the most important in the history of flight somebody went above ground without jumping or using a ladder. New episode coming soon!
