  1. Greetings from Ubuntu 18.04! I bought myself a new hard drive (which didn't have Windows, so I downloaded Ubuntu) and a hard drive reader. While my computer works, the hard drive reader is about a millimeter too small. So I have not been able to recover my data yet. If I am unable to recover my data, I will make up a storyline. Maybe I'll transfer my kerbals to GPP or BH to explain the mysterious absence of all my ships.
  2. Heh. I like that its xkcd_rss. Like. Or rep. Or whatever it's called.
  3. As in rover wheels. For collecting science. AAAAAA KRAKEN DAMMIT TO EVE AND BACK My computer is dead. I am attempting to fix it. I probably can retrieve the data. If not I may hyperedit everything into place. Or I may start over.
  4. Finished Pepper Station. End of chapter. Now I'm going to do all that boring stuff, you know, commsats and an exact copy of Pepper Station being sent to Minmus. Tune in next time for a Mun landing! With either Lyra I or Lyra II (undesigned)! Plus by that time I will have done all those annoying commnets and a Minmusstation and timewarped until I have ISRU. Or at least better wheels.
  5. Took this this morning. The Audax I space-tug towing a module of Pepper Station to Munar orbit. Restock, SVE/SVT, some skybox, and um... those heavy RCS blisters, and all that USI-LS stuff. Plus a KAS box of experiments for my Mun lander(s).
  6. When you launch a ship which has something attached to one of its docking ports - ie a lander, a probe or just a nosecone - that can be decoupled. But when you have two different ships and have docked them together, eg at a space station, the way to separate them is to undock.
  7. Thank you! I wasn't able to attach the engine pods to the main body as I couldn't pull them out very far and so the plane fell over, but I tried your other suggestions and it now lifts off with only the minimum of wobbling. I also moved the wings closer to the CoM, which due to cargo is actualy quite far forwards.
  8. All my names are Latin for something, except the SSTOs which are in old English. Aka Ænglisc.
  9. In essence, for an interplanetary SSTO you want to have RAPIERs and NERVAs. You only need a little bit of oxidant for the RAPIERs to push your apoapsis above the atmosphere, and then you can circularise with the NERVAs. It's possible to make one with Mk1 tanks, but I prefer Mk2 or Mk3. You should fill the rest of the ship with liquid fuel, and an ISRU unit. Then you fly to Minmus and refuel. From Minmus orbit dV requirements are reduced, so you can go anywhere in the system from there. I'd aim at Duna to start with because of the handy atmosphere, and you can also use Ike encounters to decrease or even capture. Here is a very minimal SSTO which can reach Minmus: It's one of my older SSTOs. There is one medium sized oxidant tank in the middle, and now I'm a better pilot I could reduce it further. There's some drills and science in the bays. The other thing I would now improve with Starchaser is that the wings are huge. And where we're going, we won't need wings. Because they just decrease your dV.
  10. Essentially, the plane wiggles about controllably for a while and then veers off, either into the sea or into the SPH. I often have problems with Mk3 planes. I never have this problem with Mk2 planes, or, oddly, the MkIV spaceplanes mod. Does anyone have an idea how I can stop my plane from doing this, and get it to launch safely? Incidentally, there is a Mun station module in this SSTO. It is autostrutted into the cargo bay.
  11. I am not a wise and powerful banana, but I believe that since Steam KSP works the same as KSP store KSP in respect to mods, I would guess that they are the same game in regards to coding.
  12. Here's what I've been attempting to improve over the past week. Essentially, you have to pump all the fuel forwards before entry or the plane flips out of control. Poor tourists, barfing in their airline seats without any leg room. It's soon to get worse for them, as I've installed Airline Kuisine (LS in Mk2 and Mk3 shapes). Why oh why did I not include aerospikes on this? Because it would have made it too expensive. I had limited funds before and especially after this mission. Here is the Audax I. It's bold and daring in that it... um... is designed to carry cargo? Or something? Also it sounds nice. It's the first rocket I've launched in a while, what with rockets being awful to fly, unlike a well-designed SSTO. It is so that I don't have to fit the Boldwela series with NERVAs. Tune in next time for Boldwela II, Audax's first mission and the completion of Pepper Station, with all the science and funds and rep I get from the contracts Build a Station in Mun Orbit, Start the Mun Space Station and Expand Pepper Station to have space for 7 kerbals.
  13. The other thing you should do is to add some surface-mount panels. That way you get an automatic recharge once an orbit, so you are only sometimes a dead hulk.
  14. I would make the left hand side have one KAL controller, and one for the right hand side. And then you can swivel the walker around by only playing one side controller.
  15. The first time I landed on the Mun, I had plenty of fuel left to return to Kerbin, because I didn't want to run out of fuel. But I packed all that fuel in FLT-800 tanks and so I fell over in the middle of a crater. Eventually that crater became the site of a thriving base due to all the failed rescue attempts. Also all the times I don't check how my spaceplanes fly with only a few units of fuel, and so I have the COL on/in front of the COM and I flip out and die within sight of the KSC. I've killed hundreds of tourists that way. (I do revert, as it is career mode and I only fly tourists when I am bankrupt.)
  16. All yours are so much better than mine. Plus, I periodically wipe my screenshots folder. Having said that, A space station. It has a few too many solar panels, I really should replace them with some Gigantors now I've unlocked them. Here's my newest SSTO circularising! And the best of my screenshots I could find... The SSTO is stock (EDIT: apart from that aerodynamic RCS thingy) but I use Restock, SVT, SVE and a skybox.
  17. I listen to BBC Radio 3. The KSP music is nice but it gets a little repetitive.
  18. And you have overtaken me again :-(. Although that's mainly because I build little other than SSTOs once I get up to that point in the game. And I'm having fun with the challenges of building stuff without RAPIERs. I just passed up the chance to get ISRU because I wanted MkIV cargo bays and Big-S fuel filled wings. You wrote several thousand words on a smartphone? I hate writing on anything which doesn't have a proper keyboard. And preferably a mouse.
  19. Cool! Will you be doing more of these? Also where can I access previous footage?
  20. Am I right in thinking that AMBS is set after these mission reports? After all, by the time AMBS is set in you have practiced enough to make some really good SSTOs :-).
  21. I built a completely awful SSTO today. Because of the star-shaped wings, the craft has a CoL poised mere centimetres behind the CoM. When you roll it, it often attempts to roll the other way, and it pitches far too fast to be useful. It does, however, pack over 2km/s in orbit.
  22. KSP is not dead. There are still parts being released - have you seen those new 2.5m SRBs? What about the BG fan blades for all your quadcopter needs?
  23. Thanks @SomeDudePlayingKsp for the compliment! I am indeed going to speed up timewarping, and I am also building some new labs. The Pepper Station (Mun) lab section launched this morning on an awful SSTO, and I am preparing to build the Mint Station in orbit of Minmus. I have plans to build an extensive Minmus Shipyard using OSE Workshop and the BG parts. And of course there is the Expedition to Eki, which will gather Eki science, and there will be a Rendezvous with Rama Rald (which Duna orbits) which will launch in 150 days. Finally, I want to do some stuff with that pirate ship which launched a while ago.
  24. Thanks Gesschosskopf! I have just found time to make 2 more panels. Now off to fly Boldwela to the Mun. Tito Kerman is a tourist I took along so I could recoup the costs of the mission. Hafoc is rather expensive. Unfortunately, it is rather more so than Tito's ticket to space. That mission returned about 15 science in all. A Munlab and a Minmuslab are rather urgently needed. So tune in next time for the establishment of a Munstation, in two parts! One which is a cupola, a lab and some fuel tanks, and another which is a load of life support.
