  1. Thanks! Honestly, there isn't really any secret sauce. The Venus lander is pretty much just a fairing with a couple hundred fuel tanks clipped in with a lawn chair, RTGs, and an OKTO2 (I think); a service bay with ducted fan setups; and 2 Vectors. I tried a spaceplane-based ascent vehicle as well but I found that the gravity was so high that by the point where the wing area was high enough, the it increased the weight far too much. Ultimately, what I found worked best was just moar boosters on a pretty conventional setup. I agree with you about the heating model discrepancy, but I have no idea how the RSS heat model works. All I can tell you is that there weren't many problems with heating on reentry, possibly because of the high drag inflatable heat shield allowing me to reenter at a higher altitude, or the NERVs somehow shielding parts of the craft. The only heating problems I encountered were on the return from the Pluto-Charon system when I aerobraked at Jupiter on the way to Earth (I didn't include this and a lot of other flybys I did to make the video a semi-watchable length). EDIT: Thought I probably should add that I maxed out the critical temperature at around 95% on that Jupiter aerobrake but I forget which part it was.
  2. Yep, I took it a step further this time. Ultimately, the only thing stopping me from doing a reusable grand tour instead of the expendable one I did a while ago was the Venus ascent vehicle. After a lot of experimentation, I came up with an ascent mechanism that utilizes suborbital docking to catch the ascent vehicle and boost it back to orbit before it gets too deep in the atmosphere. Anyways, here's the video:
  3. I think you're looking for Kerbal Sized Real Solar System, KSRSS. Also, you definitely can use stock parts in RSS, just it's significantly more difficult than the stock system.
  4. We probably should pull a Genghis and invade when it's warmer though
  5. Found another interesting but minor bug. If you enter the stationary camera mode while in flight view, switch to map view, then hotkey to exit from the stationary camera mode, it shows this weird projection of the active craft on the middle of the screen. Here's a quick clip of it happening: https://medal.tv/games/kerbal-space/clips/eExth-IGF7f1j/d1337MLjlIVh?invite=cr-MSxkOEUsNTcyODIyMDYs
  6. The bottled liquid cookie freezes and breaks the bottle. Frozen cookie...
  7. I (normally) play RSS with stock parts, and it's definitely hard but certainly doable as well.
  8. Occasionally I get that error but it goes away if I refresh the page.
  9. I'm thinking a mid-late October to early December 2022 release to meet the winter holiday market if nothing has slipped significantly. If stuff has slipped, I'd not be surprised at something like May-July 2023.
  10. Generally, it's a highly customizable planetarium that can be used to show fields of views of optical systems, predict astronomical events, and much more.
  11. Stellarium is probably (nope, it definitely is) the best astronomy software I use.
  12. Looks like the Google Drive has restricted access.
  13. You can upload it to KerbalX, Dropbox, or any other file-sharing network and just post/DM the link. Once again, impressive mission!
  14. Impressive! I'm working on something that requires similar characteristics to this craft; would you mind uploading the craft file so that I can see exactly how you managed to design this?
  15. Easily Minecraft, though I do 1.8 PvP, not building. Recently I've been grinding Dyson Sphere Program with Nebula (multiplayer mod) so I can play with my brother, but I doubt I'll stick with it like I have with MC and KSP.
  16. GIVE IT TO ME NOWWWWWW https://tenor.com/view/give-me-give-it-to-me-now-gif-6486247
  17. I used to do the same thing, though you couldn't hear the liftoff normally AFAIK.
  18. Apologies if I've asked this before; is there any way to control the number and location (celestial body-wise) of burns? I'm trying to plot a single-burn, multi-flyby maneuver but KSPTOT really wants to create a second burn that I can't accommodate.
  19. I know for a fact it's at least 1200 kerbal years... (don't ask questions you don't want the answers to)
  20. Hi, I've been getting into RO recently, and I've noticed that quite a few Near Future parts (mostly NF Electrical) don't seem to be configured. After searching around for more complete configs, I've come up empty-handed. Are there any such configs available? Thanks!
  21. New cinematic I made on a crewed mission to the Pluto-Charon system with Kerbalism and fusion propulsion:
  22. A couple people in my local astro club also managed to catch it as a smear in a long exposure with a 6" (I think) refractor. I've been trying my luck with my 8" Dall-Kirkham but the weather's not been permitting for the past 2 weeks or so.
