Why does the game crash so much on ps4?
Ande replied to Ande's topic in KSP1 Technical Support (Console)
I think it's related to the memory or HDD on ps4 tbh, it's never possible to recreate, I've loaded back saves and repeated my actions and never once replicated so it's unlikely a software issue. Although part of me can tell when it's going to crash... I.e complex builds or manuevours usually always result in a crash to blue screen. I'd like to see squad or whoever give us a debugger in the least. At least if they then could tell us what to avoid. The weird thing is, if I start a brand new career and start from scratch, the frequency of crashes really does reduce. So, I feel if anything there's a limit to the number of craft, or a memory leak. Oddly in all 3 career restarts, the crashes begun around the same time as either 1. I visited eve 2. I fully unlocked tech tree 3 Can you give any details on what types of action you do in the VAB when it happens? If you start a new career does it work fine for a bit like me? I was getting 4+ hours gameplay early career -
Why does the game crash so much on ps4?
Ande replied to Ande's topic in KSP1 Technical Support (Console)
And again, 30 mins in. Just created man node and going to journey to Eve again and then saved the game. Then attempted to open the tracking station and hey presto another blue screen error. Not being funny but how come the bug tracker isnt littered with complaints? @KSPStar I'm getting tired of logging them all without having any response. Clearly the issue is the game, I've reinitialised the ps4 based on my previous save doing the same thing, completely uninstalled and reinstalled the game and then created this new save. It's been fine, and tbf since up until few months back it's always had an occasional error but now it seems to happen quicker and more regular. City's skylines and Surviving Mars work without any errors at all so I cant accept the ps4 is the issue. Is there some kind of monitoring software the engineering team can send me to debug the game? -
Hi, I'm not sure what the issue was but I lost a career due to corrupted save file a long while back. I couldn't recover it and in the end I decided to just bite the bullet and start a new one. I then worked out a way to save my ps4 saves to an external USB drive and got in to the habit of doing this a couple of times to ensure I had a fallback point. Unless you know computers I wouldn't recommend manually mate .

Can't EVA right
Ande replied to Doesntknowjackaboutps4ksp's topic in KSP1 Technical Support (Console)
Search for rocket Man Dan on YouTube fella, he does some decent ps4 tutorials, I find Eva really easy now. It does take getting used to. Tip. Having SAS on locks your orientation the way the camera is facing and makes it a lot easier to use the up, down, left and right. You shouldn't really need to use the rotate. Ps. The triggers make the Eva suit go up or down. Bst place to practice, get yourself to minmus. Land and then go out and play with your Eva packs. Then you shouldnt end up drifting I. Space -
You have to select the part and then move the sliders, make sure the motors are on etc.

Ce-34878-0 errors at least 2 times per game. Unable to reliably recreate at will, just seems to happen at random points. No reason or warning. 1. More often than not the error displays following a hang/locked screen, i..e in the VAB 2. Also tends to occur if jumping back to the VAB or KSC from the menu options 3. Had the same error when building, flying, walking. I have over 86 flights in the career, gut feel is this is a memory spike., Although I have recently reset my ps4 twice and there is no evidence to suggest this will make a differentm . Logging all my instanses as best as I can on the bug tracker but noones come back to me.
-
@KSPStar I've been trying to log the issues I get on the bug tracker but tbh the frequency of the issues means I can't log everytime something goes bang. I've logged different places where its crashed, but tonight this log below had happened twice so I've given up trying to play the game. I'm losing the will to be blunt. No one's moderating the forum at all and the constant fear of crashing is destroying the enjoyment. Any ideas what I can do? https://bugs.kerbalspaceprogram.com/issues/28626?next_issue_id=28625&prev_issue_id=28627 I agree. Those of us with PS4's should be left on ksp1, unless of course they think it's just as easy in which case I bet ksp2 will be so much more stable. It would be great if we got some kind of good will incentive to buy ksp 2 on a reduced price, in fact I would rather this than they waste time fixing the old game

@KSPStar any chance of getting a debug log over to you guys to track these blue screen errors. I've had another 2 today, one was loading the tracking screen and the other in the map view just after plotting to eeloo. I'll load it later and it won't happen the second time. Crashes are completely random and so if your interested I'm happy to run a debug or let your team access my ps4 if it means you can try and fix in the next update?

Already logged with support, completely reset my ps4 and started a new save, been fine up until I got to level 4-5 on tech tree, or upgraded all my base. I personally believe that it's memory leakage or spikes, more often than not it happens when you try and load into the tracking station from a flight or return to KSC from a flight. I try and quicksave before now every time. It's a pain in the bum to be honest as there's no warning and can't recreate. Id happily stream my game with your dev watching on if you like Just had another, and this time it corrupted the save file. Recovered ok but still frustrating as Id just mapped a way to Moho!

@KSPStar if you could also get the random blue screen crashes fixed aswell, every career I have gets to a point where these errors happen more and more frequently. I just got one whilst walking about on the mun... No warning...just dumps out. Very annoying.

much needed reassurance good to have at least this update from you. I'll get ready to start a new career near release time though as typically the updates create havoc on saves. All the best from all us console strugglers @KSPStar @KSPStar I'd think a brief official post like this would go a long way for majority of users, maybe just with an indication of what your hoping to add/fix

Ok, so your having the same issues as the rest of us. It wasn't clear in your previous post, sounded like you felt we were wrong for complaining I think the reason for outsourcing to a different studio was because they lacked the necessary skills to port to the console. Blitworks to be fair to them have done a marvelous job imo to translate the functionality to a console controller. Once you get used to it. The main problem I've got is that the OP "Gary" had said we would still get updates up to 1.12 and we just had to wait for them to get up to speed now blitworks have gone. Since then, there has been no further details on the PLAN. There used to be really good communication but it seems there is a bit of a fear factor in giving us dates. Even with KSP2.... Which had all the fanfare 2 years ago. I believe from all the research I've had to do on the ps4 blue screen issues that there is something deep in the code that causes extreme memory leaks. Ive done a complete factory reset on PS4 and reinstalled my games. A brand new career works fine, but if I load an old save file where I had lots of bluescreen crashes, all of a sudden I have the errors again. So, a lot of the issues I believe come down to the save file corruptions. I even kept a tracker and shared with the support team who were very helpful. If you really can't play, i'd recommend doing what I did and starting brand new. It's actually quite fun to go at it again from new career. I do think my reset helped my ps4 generally. I just backed up all the trophies etc and then restored them after. Lastly, it is quite clear that with every update to KSP on console you should probably delete your career and restart. Back with the last 2 updates, I lost 2 careers just because the game was tripping out so often after the update, so I started new. Feel free to DM me if you want to compare your experience and I'll try and help.

What's your point you are trying to make... That we shouldn't question the decision taken to stop development before major bugs were addressed on consoles?

Just to provide an update, my brand new career has been playing absolutely perfectly since my post above. Today, i did two things. Upgraded the object tracker to highest level and planned a trip to Eve where I hadn't been just yet. And... Well I've had 2 blue screen crashes. Nothing corrupted but just an interesting observation.

Hi there, this looks like it will be really useful but sadly couldn't use the app on my mobile as part of the screen wasn't resized to my mobile device. Is this supposed to be only used on desktops or tablets? Great work all the same

Kerbal Space Program Enhanced Edition Grand Discussion thread
Ande replied to UomoCapra's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Thought we were on version 1.12? Albeit a different code branch for enhanced edition. They didn't add all the features of 1.12 as they didn't think they would add value to console gamers I managed to do Duna and Ike, but then struggled with Delta v for getting back, 3 rescue craft sent and tbf I like the parachute approach to landing as predictable landing. I do really hate having to wait for ejection windows when in career but I do like the game mode so I just send up a load of interplanetary missions at the same time had to perform a full delete and reset of PS4 though and tried to restore my old career due to getting 3-4 blue screen crashes per play. Sadly, started a new career. it sucks you can't copy over old designs, some of my bases were pretty good. Hope you're still enjoying it. I struggle remembering to go to bed when I play- 310 replies

So, I've fully initialised my ps4 and redownloaded and installed KSP fresh. Upon load I have created 2 new games, one is career mode the other science mode. Both are running fine it seems without any of the issues 1-5. I then copied my career save from previous game (with loads more going on) using the PS4s copy from storage option. This all worked and it seemed like, despite the painful load times and frame rates continuing, I had solved the blue screens... Alas.. once I tried to recover a craft at the mission end I got a blue screen crash. It seems at least to the guys at private division that the save game is the problem. I don't understand this. Why? To me this is proof of a memory leak issue related to larger saves, I'm documenting my experience in a tracking sheet and trying to find a point that it breaks on my new career. Early indication is that as I've got to level 3 on the tech tree and upgraded several of the KSC buildings that the load times have taken a slight hit, so I suspect there is something fundamentally broken. This seems to have got worse since the ps5 update
-
Most likely you have inadvertently set your trim on, assuming you have turned on SAS your craft shouldn't be spinning in orbit. I found this happened a lot to me on PS4 as it's easy to set the trim on and lock the controls. Load settings and turn trim off and you should be fine.

Hi, I get issues 1-5 pretty regularly. Ive emailed support and have been sending pictures of the frequency. I literally cannot play KSP for one evening without one of these 5 problems. The blue screen crashes are the most annoying tbh, the others can be managed. The issues have definitely increased over time, but it is possible that as a newb I was so rubbish that everything was simple. Now I'm landing on Duna and Ike it's probably kicking the CPU load more than a simple hop to orbit Kerbin. @DemordrahDid you ever fix these issues? I've been told by support to essentially wipe and reinstate my ps4 but I'm not keen on trying this as I know the games the problem, all other games work fine. It also seems that Xbox players don't get any of these 5 issues.

Reloading game fixed but it's really weird. Dunno what I did

impossible to play cause to many bugs...
Ande replied to Kroni2003's topic in KSP1 Technical Support (Console)
@Dew169 441gb of 861gb so hd is fine. Literally cannot play the game in one evening without over 3 game crashes. Any PS4 users out there without same experience?
