  1. you dont have to literally DO the math all you need is an educated guesstimation; knowing at least something about right what's what.
  2. Xpress1250 is a notebook chip if i didnt recall wrong... while the ATI CCC software auto updates every month anyways; AMD may or may not support it (my Lenovo laptop uses HD5670M and ATI CCC havent been updating its driver for like 2 yrs already)
  3. i tried sticking a pair of nova punch solid rocket mini-booster (the one with 100 thrust) on an orange tank at a ~120km circular orbit. and staged them together with the decoupler so that when i dumped the tank; the rocket fires. but the problem i ran into is that... when i stage separate the tank... the rockets pushed the tank into a spin and the thrust of cos didnt push the tank against the velocity vector and the empty tank ended up in space anyways.
  4. how heavy is heavy? i am delivering a 20- 30t payload with 1. a long 1.25m tank with a nuclear on 2. an central orange tank + 4 radial orange tank (in apparagus manner: drop 2 each time); all running Skipper the good thing is... you dont even need many struts on this simple design; and the nuclear engine stage can be indeed changed to a double 1.25m long tank stack if you need to increase the interplanetary dV to ~7km/s (you need a few struts to make that long stem stable tho')
  5. this way of writing is pretty hard to read do it properly in MS Word using the equation editor please or else... not many ppl bother spending some extra seconds to try comprehending it. (yes i am that lazy)
  6. i knew that and i indeed bought an extra copy during the sale yesterday i was asking what those words are...(well of cos i know the english version of STEAM has the same layout...i asked just for the sake of asking and bumping the thread so that more ppl get to know this) i hv 5 of 8 cards now; and i saved and horizontal-flipped the ground-crew pic and it's now my new wallpaper
  7. i have no idea what language it is... cant comprehend english please (or 中文 since i am chinese)
  8. play with the newly bought steam version of the game (trying to unlock some of the trading cards as my new desktop wallpaper)
  9. O... ya ... i totally forget about the fun of this... nice idea
  10. sometimes i do... when it starts to lag...
  11. wait... let me get my microscope..
  12. wow... never thought of having the RCS detachable... very neat idea~ thank you guys
  13. ya... procedural fairings are so cool... but i'll love it even more if they have a 4-piece option to choose from...i bet it'll look so much better when it is dumped.
  14. i dont know... i think $13.79 is about the lowest it gets (you dont really expect a $9.9 for this game do you?) it started at $15 "donation" on the site 2 yrs ago to begin with anyways....
  15. well... this is indeed harder to achieve since you know.. planes does not have a 2-fold symmetry and it tends to shift center of mass of the rocket a bit even if you stack it on top of the rocket (you cant attach things below the jet engines anyways)
  16. ran into a massive lag when trying to add another module onto my station today... (dunno if it's because i'hv been leaving the computer on for a couple days or if it's because there is too many parts in the station) my station is currently having ~355parts and i am having at least one module of each mod i had installed plugged in the station: kethane/ mechjeb/ISA MapSat/Minox Cargo bay/Kerbal Attachment/ Robotic Arms/EVA parachute/Ordin telescope/etc dont know if it's the mods giving rise to the massive lag either~ ----- since v0.21 will be coming out soon... and i'll do a clean reinstall and restart is there any advice how i can reduce the part count of my station so that i can retain my preference of having-every-mod-i-installed-on-the-station design while dodging the lag? well... here is how my station currently looks like (i omitted the solar pannels and the probes/command pods and the batteries and the mechjebs on my diagram; each module now has a pair of gigantor solar pannel and a pair of 500unit battery and a mechjeb and some lights)
  17. i guess it's because it's way harder to fly than a rocket in the game
  18. you want a higher clock freq CPU and an nVIDIA GPU. you know why? cos the PhyX engines sucks. it supports nVIDIA GPU only and DOESNT support CPU multi-threading (just to QQ a bit... unity should really dump PhyX and get Hovak instead)
  19. which do you prefer? I prefer rockets they are easier to fly and are more consistent i mean... with the same rocket i am pretty sure how much fuel i will be left with when i get into low orbit but plane?? everytime is a new story... i am never sure...sometimes there's much to spare while other times i cant even fly it into orbit; not to say docking for a refuel then continue the journey... (IOW... planes are more challenging and hence more satisfying flying while rockets are way easier and less frustrating at times.)
  20. dont use those lander legs use the one which extends; those are stronger and less likely to topple; another suggestion; try to touch down at less than 3m/s... it's hard on Kerbin (or other massive planets) but it's manageable in smaller moons/planets to do this... try to use a decent engine with a less thrust; so that the force generated will not go crazily high with a slight tab on the shift key or the ctrl key.
  21. it's always nice to have some spare fuel tho... (well.. i know it's more fun and challenging to have the vehicle housing just the right amount of fuel to get the job done tho')
  22. you actually dont need to scan the whole planet i never put a kethane probe polar since i wouldnt want my mining station too far from the equator anyways. however... if you are sending an ISA MapSat probe; you need to orbit it at> 80 inclination. ------ anyways... get back to your question i usually try to put everything in my probes so that i only need one single probe sitting at each planet. normally my all-in-one probe is like: both Kethane scanner and ISA MapSat surveying unit in the same probe. and usually i put at least a couple of those 500unit batteries and at least one thermal generator; trust me you dont want your probe dies during an interplanetary transit and since the gigantor solar plannel is OP; i always pack a pair of it these things altogether is a ton or two at least and ion engine cant give a meaningful thrust for my probe then. so i always use the LV-N engine on my probes sometimes i would snap a small size Ordin Telescope on it too... and in rare occasions which i may want to refuel my probe; i'll add a Kerbal Attachment System port together with a few grips on it. so that someone from the refueling ship can EVA to the probe refueling it.
