  1. Tricycle arrangement. As much as I knock my tail off taking off, I should do a tail dragger since I am already dragging it! I will try your suggestions along with those of @Streetwind. I generally don't use autostrutting unless my rocket is flying apart on the way up but it's usually too late by then.
  2. I have read dozens of posts on "Why does my plane turn 90 degrees and explode on the lawn?" I have made certain that my wheel are straight and started using universal to line them up. I have made sure CoL is slightly behind CoM and wheels are just at the CoM so you can actually lift off. That hasn't changed. I am making bigger aircraft and they need bigger wheels. Ever since I started using anything bigger than the small retractable or the fixed landing gear, no plane makes if off the runway. They wobble back and forth at around 35 m/s, turn hard left or right at about 45 m/s. I would not think that you could get away with using small gear on a medium or large airplane or STO. For one, the back end of the plane would get knocked off if you nosed up even slightly. Is it something with the level 3 runway? With KSC in general for plane takeoffs? As a side note, I took off in a small supersonic plane and flew to and landed on then took off from the northern ice caps. Planes are working.
  3. I sent an RV into space. It created a new crater on Minmus. Not to be daunted, Jeb strapped a rocket onto the Jeep. Success!
  4. I accidentally hit EVA and controls no longer worked when I left the ship, including the keyboard hotkeys. I couldn't {B} Board back into the plane. ESC does not work. I had to Task Manager kill the game. I had not used the EVA button before and have had no problems with anything else. I didn't intend to use it this time either, heh.
  5. I have not actually started playing with it yet but I installed Real Solar System today in a second game instance. It should be interesting considering the greatly larger amounts of dV required. I want to see if I can crash Apollo 11 into the Moon as effectively as I can crash Kerbal X into Mun.
  6. I lived that today! LOL Thanks for sharing. My next mission!
  7. Today in KSP I discovered Murphy's Thirteenth Law of Duhnamics. I stranded 3 sets of Kerbals on Mun. Since I only have 6, I guess a probe will be their savior. If I can land it better than the others. haha
  8. I immediately scribbled down the equations people supplied here and made it into the orbit I wanted as closely as my burn reaction time permitted. It's my take on LandSat scaled down to Kerbin.
  9. This gets me a whole lot closer to where I am trying to get. The inclination is 90 since I am after a polar orbit. There's no rendezvous so the AN might not be needed. Thanks for the answer and additional (easy) maths!
  10. Maybe it has been asked and answered and I just don't know how to search for it. I know there is an answer but it's the question that I think is off. So... I suck at math. I can do a little basic algebra. That is why I am playing a game that is all about engineering and math! I have been going through sites reading about orbits and have found this. e=c/a where e is the eccentricity, c is the focal distance, and a is the semi-major axis. I know e and I know a. So c=a*e? Can I determine a periapsis and apoapsis from this and establish an orbit with the desired eccentricity and axis?
  11. Nice! I will have Bill work up the blueprints and get one of Jeb's clones ready for a test flight! EDIT: @swjr-swis You provided a craft file also! Back to canning beans, Bill!
  12. I can't believe it flies! I unlocked supersonic and high altitude flight today and made this. I thought for certain it would be flaming panels on the runway but it took off right out of the box without having to go back in for adjustments. It took very little runway for it to fly, which surprised me since it weighs 12 tons. Edit: It's not supersonic. Mach 0.83 is as fast as I could push it.
  13. I understand one at a time very well. The learning curve for me has been rather hyperbolic instead of a curve. Your plan sounds like the best plan. Those tourists all lined up can wait.
  14. Do you launch and park for 416d for the transfer window and do other things for a year and a half or do you just timewarp up to it and for the transit? Either way is viable, if you ignore contract expirations, so I guess it's asking opinions on how to approach planets.
  15. LOL Awesome! So that load screen of Kerbals sitting on the outside of a rocket is a real thing!
  16. I am using it from now on! I had the tweaks enabled but I never think to use them. I just wrap my monstrosities in struts and fly a spaghetti factory!
  17. Today I put an apartment complex into orbit. Putting a fully assembled string of 4 cans that has a docking port, an antenna, and can produce power that accommodates 12 Kerbals looks easier than it is. I thought I was trying to fly a garden hose! But that sweet contract money made it into my pockets! As sad as it is to say this, that sounds like a Mun mission in my game. Things in my universe start to go wrong about 100m off the launch pad.
  18. @Stone Blue I believe it was just user error. I had installed my mods manually but when I used CKAN yesterday evening, the issue went away. I must have missed a dependency. I just forgot to come back and edit my post.
  19. Failed to load because it is missing the dependence KSP_Log. I'm not sure why since the file is automatically generated when the game is launched and is definitely present. EDIT: Also not sure why it said it failed to load since it is present in the game and I can toggle it on and off. There's no science here to gather though. I got anything around KSC long ago.
  20. @18WattThanks! I was just coming in to say that after having time away doing RL and getting unfrustrated that I found while checking for debris that you can control them from the Tracking Station. I was using [ and ] so thank you for the Tab advice also!
  21. I am on Mun with Bob and Bill. Bill EVA and could not deploy anything so I saved and restarted. Bill could no longer be selected or controlled. I EVA Bob. He could not deploy anything either. I exited completely and restarted. Now both Bill and Bob are standing on Mun and cannot be selected or controlled. They have no portraits. I really don't want to start over. Getting to Mun has been a minor nightmare and I finally land successfully and have enough gas to go home and my save breaks. EDIT: If I open inventory, they are no longer included. They have been turned into Mun rocks.
  22. I made it to Minmus! Bob brought home just under 1100 science from ground, low and high space with the 4 science I can do and his reports. And he made it home alive without being adrift in the black! The science more than doubles my space technology so Mun should be a lot easier this time around.
  23. I tried to Google but Google doesn't understand me. I was wondering which seat a scientist has to be in to be the one who does the experiments. I am in a 2 seat capsule. Does Bob have to EVA to run the science? Jeb and Bob. What a pair!
