I think everyone is overblowing this whole thing way too much. At most I would expect 10% boosts due to experienced Kerbals, if that, this isn't some lvl 99 pro leet skillz 16x dmg in sneak 9001% boost, its just a small reward for keeping your Kerbals alive, so you can squeeze a little extra out of your ships or get a little more margin of error with an experienced crew.

I voted indifferent, because I won't really care either way. What I do want to say though, is that all the people making a huge fuss over the fact that the current plan "isn't realistic bla bla" are being ridiculous. Despite what you may believe, this is a game, not a simulator, and providing magical (and even somewhat justifiable in this case) boosts due to character experience happens all the time in nearly every game and nobody even notices. I think this is a wonderful way to give Kerbals a useful purpose and provide extra reason to take good care of them.

Actually it is, because the C# methods that would typically be used to access this data are blocked by KSP for security reasons. It is possible to circumvent this, but it's far from easy.

See this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Drake_equation Based on our current experience (finding nothing) and understanding of processes required, the statistical probability of life occurring twice in the same solar system is amazingly small, and if you factor in estimates from the Drake equation (even if you take a very high estimate) life is still amazingly rare in our universe. As such I can easily justify my statement that "Exploring the solar system for traces of life is a waste of time and resources" It would be much better to direct those resources towards expansion and progress instead of wasting them on looking for something that isn't there. EDIT: That's not true, we have a number of samples of "no, nothing here" To what end? Any science being done is inherently tied to the "search for life"
-
I have two issues with what's been said: Exploring the solar system for traces of life is a waste of time and resources, there is no life besides us here, and there never was. Basic statistics can prove this. Terraforming a planet is far beyond our technology, not to mention is it wasteful and foolish. Planets are inherently problematic because of their gravity wells as well as sheer scale. Space based colonization is a far better alternative.

There's no mod for this, though some of the features are in Mechjeb's landing site selector. That would be a good place to start if you wanted to make it.
-
Not really, because that would mean 10-20 less parts that they could use on their ships, and for some, that's a good portion of their cap. Modeling a detailed rope like suggested is entirely possible, it's just not been done because its inherently going to be physics heavy, and it doesn't provide a lot of benefit in return.

Hmm, your mention of SOI changes gave me an idea: Kragrathea graciously provided me some code to deal with weird physics collisions on SOI change, disabling colliders and such, and its possible I'm mishandling it and that is resulting in the bug that I have confirmed of the KSC becoming unresponsive. This would satisfactorily explain the unresponsive KSC, but I'm still not sure about the whole KSC dissapearing thing. I suppose it could be a side effect as well, but I've as of yet been unable to reproduce it. Thanks for your descriptive and helpful bug report, I'll try to figure out what is going on and get a fix out ASAP.

lolno Theres a lot more complexity behind this than just "Unity is bad lol"

You know, I've thought about this before, since often the camera and mouse alone aren't suitable for precise positioning. I would approve of such a mod if anyone decided to make it.
-
Agreed, I haven't noticed a change. Instead of "Please read the Support instructions thread to learn how you can help us help you." we need more of "Please read and follow the Support Instructions thread if you want us to be able to help you." Also size 72 rainbow colored.

Scientific inquiry is based around gathering new knowledge or correcting old knowledge and integrating new findings with current knowledge. Notwithstanding the ignorant arguments put forth by those who may commonly oppose such arguments, you cannot take on the view that your theory is without flaw without falling back to the same kind of reasoning that those who may oppose you will use. Because this is so common, its better to just keep such discussion away from these forums where it will always result in the same thing. I feel I have justified my position sufficiently, I do not require your approval of my reasoning.
-
Well said. By your standards, there's nothing to discuss. Anyone who might disagree with your interpretation is automatically assigned to an "anti-science" category and shunted away. This is in opposition to the very nature of scientific inquiry. Sadly it seems that whenever such a topic comes up, it inevitably devolves into pointless argument. I would be in favor of enacting rules that ban discussion of such topics as this forum really isn't the place to be having those discussions.

They have already said they are working on female Kerbals, and that will likely include some female Kerbals in administrative positions. Since we don't have them yet, the obvious solution for 0.25 was to make the new additions male. /thread

They didn't. Good idea! -
Kerbal Stuff, an open-source Space Port replacement

I wonder if some of the popular modders could override the curse link with a KS link -
This has been a feature since the new KSC was implemented.

There was this: http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/24205 It needs to be updated to work. I've been considering taking over it and updating it, but I've been busy.

Definitely intended, not a bug. If it bothers you, you can grab this: http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/92076

You'll want a powerful processor, likely an Intel i5/i7, prioritizing speed over number of cores. KSP does not need much of a GPU, and ram is cheap enough that you can pick that at your discretion. This is a great comparison thread: http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/42877
