  1. Look for Gary's submarine mod. I don't know if it still works in 0.19, but if it does it will allow you to reach the bottom of the ocean.
  2. Sending probes before sending kerbals makes sense. I also do it that way. And I try to avoid leaving debris in orbit as much as possible. But parachutes or a mean to recover those deorbited parts is too strict a design rule for me. If it falls pack in the atmosphere, I consider it has burned. Can we see what designs you came up with while following those guidelines?
  3. 1.1km without relying on the precision of a Mechjeb landing is actually quite good I would say. So congratulations on your achievement.
  4. Efficient and it looks nice. You're off to a very good start.
  5. Gilly is indeed very fun but a pain in the ass to land on. The low gravity combined with the impossibility to time warp when getting close to the surface makes every landing an exercise in patience.
  6. Glad to hear MapSat is still in development and not dead. I always start exploring a new body by sending a MapSat probe. I like that blog idea.
  7. That was moving, awesome and inspiring. ... Now, for the questions. DSM mod and what else? Also, even on ion engine, how could you have enough deltaV? Ps: damn, still have a knot in my stomach. Edit: watched it again on a proper screen and realized it was a probe and not the 2001 Space Odyssey style cockpit from DSM (silly phone screen). Also read the description on Youtube and great use of slingshots (Duna, Eve, Jool, Moho and so on). Now if you'll excuse me, I have to watch it again.
  8. Trust the russians for coming up with strange concepts. As for underwater, there used to be a mod to create submarines. It might even still work.
  9. Bobcat's DEMV EX3 (the motorcycle) has a great seat you can use for rovers.
  10. I love you all guys/gals/non-gender specific persons.
  11. The starfury fighters in Babylon 5 tried to get it right at least, making 180° turns on RCS.
  12. Mechjeb is a great tool, and I love the information panels it comes with, be it orbital information or vessel information. But in the end, it is just that, a tool. And it will only be as good as the pilot knows what s/he is doing.
  13. So far, I've only tried the stock rover wheels on Kerbin, Mun and Minmus. And boy do they behave differently. A rover that is perfectly capable of keeping a straight heading on Kerbin will need constant adjustments on the 2 moons. And the only difference I've seen when using docking mode is that they don't try to flip when I accelerate or go in reverse. That behavior is one of the reasons I stick with the DEMVs for my manned rovers and the old cleverbobcat one for my probes.
  14. Upgrade. It was announced in the articles.
  15. They announced an update on the servers for today.
  16. Actually, if I remember correctly, someone detailed a mission that reached the bottom of the north pole pit. I don't remember how deep it was but a probe was sent and got stuck at the very narrow bottom. Let's hope that person notices this thread and tells us more about it.
  17. Wait... Did you say larger?? You have to show it when it's done!
  18. I just went through the whole album. Congratulations on a job amazingly well done. It looks like you put a lot of thought into designing it and the delivery vehicules you used to bring the pieces up. It's making me want to crash the stations I have so far and start again from scratch.
  19. Made checking the forum at the risk of getting caught by boss totally worth it.
  20. If you want canyons, follow the rivers. The water is always at sea level, even as they go inland. And so the banks rise around it. Check the one north-east of the KSC.
  21. Glad to see that post back. Still amazed at the amount of work. By the way, I'm still not convinced by the way the stock rover wheels behave in low gravity environment (like on the Mun and Minmus). It feels like I'm driving on ice. Does it improve with an increased gavity, like on Duna?
  22. I don't care what the backup says. We need to bring this back!
