  1. I actually prefer to edit the TechRequired in the .cfg. This way I (and anyone else) only needs to drop in the folder and not touch anything else. ~Steve
  2. Thanks, man. I tried a few times to guess it... ~Steve EDIT: nope!
  3. Problem is that it puts them so low in the tech tree... Yeah.. they work... but are WAY too easy to get at current level in tech. I've never played around with the tech tree before. ~Steve
  4. zzz made it ages ago (specifically for space planes, but I like it better than stock for everything)... like page 86 or something. For some reason Fractal doesn't want to put it into the core mod. https://www.dropbox.com/sh/eufatsv6trvgrgd/v6S_RhHoqC ~Steve
  5. dangit... the new tech tree borked the Collapsible Warp Drive zzz made (doesn't show up). Anyone already make a quick fix for this? ~Steve
  6. 3.75M AM reactors + thermal nozzles are the way I prefer to lift my bases/stations. Because I prefer to launch those 500 ton monsters in one piece. My problem right now is that I have more AM than I know what to do with... and I can't seem to get satisfied with my mining base design or transmitting power plant design... and I REALLY don't want to have to build a 1700+ part AM power transmitter to orbit Jool. ~Steve
  7. I prefer my coast based fusion station that I'm in the middle of designing/building. Park it literally barely enough off the coast to float.. spin it's own deuterium and deliver lithium by truck and KAS. Double it as a tritium breeder. 3.75m fusion reactors still breed more than they use, no? I haven't even checked since the new KSPI update. I probably should. ~Steve
  8. Now that receivers actually throttle themselves... I may just do this. Gonna be a crap ton of Heat Sinks. But! I'll be able to power every single station I have in the Kerbolar System. Well... since I only use transmitted power for that... and never for plasma thrusters or for any ship systems. I'll have to set up a lot more relays... ~Steve EDIT Relays only receive heat equal to 15% of the power they're relaying.. right? Because of the transceiver efficiency of 85%? Or am I mistaken on that?
  9. Just do what I do... I have a folder inside my downloads folder marked 'KSP Mods'. It's always there... taunting me... holding all of my mod downloads. It comes in handy now and then when I want to check for updates (I know what version I have already) and for whenever I reinstall KSP. ~Steve EDIT Well that... and I keep a lot of the personal stuff I've gone and edited in my dropbox.
  10. Well never mind then!! Oh, and thanks for saving me a trip. ~Steve
  11. People have lives outside of KSP? Since when? Hell, Steam says I've played over 1,000 (800+ of that probably just building and tweaking ships) of KSP... and I know I played way more than that length before it was even ON Steam. And... I have a dumb question... that's extract-able water/Ice on Eeloo... right? Thinking of sending a miner and fuel station out there... for the lulz ~Steve
  12. None of them officially work with Fractal... they just try to help out here and there. zzz is kind of the exception, he has made a number of skins for KSPI in the past. Giving access to modify the official download would cause all sorts of headaches with communications and what not. It's not worth it. ~Steve EDIT And yes... many of us here in this forum try to be helpful when we feel we're knowledgeable on a topic. Quite a nice bunch in here.
  13. Damnit... and I just went through a week ago and fully updated all of my ribbons.... and now I have a couple more changes to make. Oh well.. guess I'll do it again! ~Steve PS This is an awesome community addition... been using it since inception. FYI Server seems a bit borked right now... EDIT Odd... I didn't have to set up a new account.
  14. Don't forget to add zzz's collapsible warp drive 2.0. https://www.dropbox.com/sh/eufatsv6trvgrgd/v6S_RhHoqC ~Steve
  15. You could always use Fuel Balancer to put in AM and Tritium... and only use it on your honor. Just an idea. I've actually done this a few times for 500+ part launch vehicles that I didn't want to drive anywhere near with my delivery vehicles. ~Steve
  16. Yeah.. was just about to delete my post. Forgive me... my insomnia is acting up again and I've been drinking but still not able to fall asleep after the past 36 hours. ~Steve EDIT: Yeah... think I'll go play something mindless... come back to this after I've had some sleep. I can't even build straight right now...
  17. I'm not having ISP issues.. I'm having issues with the thrust jumping by a factor of 2.5 (between launch pad and vacuum) on Thermal Thrusters (all sizes)! ~Steve
  18. Nailed a bug from 0.23.5 for you Fractal Ok.. so I've tested several variations with the thermal thruster (plasma seems fine). I have 10.46 T:W on the launchpad.. and about 23.5 T:W in orbit. Which is NOT the same 2.5 factor of improved ISP from Atmo to vacum with LFO which is what I first thought it might be. But it's doing 2.25x. So I'm not sure where it's coming from. Should be an easy fix... or something. It seems the Methane thruster is having a similar issue at around 2.25 multiplier. Doesn't make sense since that's not the ISP difference. But there it is. Odd, since the plasma thruster seemed fine. ~Steve EDIT: 25 T:W is cool and all... but I'm tearing my own ships apart. And that's with the 1.25m thermal+AM. EDIT2: There's also an old typo... for some reason your 3.75m AM tanks are labeled as 3.5m. Might want to toss the 7 back in there.
  19. Well you see the picture... zzz made a collapsible warp drive. The download is right there. Just toss it right next to the regular warp drive folder. Not sure what else you want to know... ~Steve
  20. Ok... so this is odd... Am I smoking crack or has my thrust to weight doubled with 0.23.5 with KSPI thermal thrusters+AM reactors? I distinctly recall 10.4 T:W on my Tug before.. and now I'm getting over 20. So... what happened? ~Steve PS I think I'll just let KSP sit for a bit while mod updates finish. EDIT: Hey Fractal! Would you please finally consider adding in the version 2 of Warpdrive into KSPI that zzz was nice enough to make for us? It's absolutely VITAL for anyone that wants to make a warp capable space plane! For those that don't know https://www.dropbox.com/sh/eufatsv6trvgrgd/v6S_RhHoqC
  21. Yeah... we all have to start somewhere. Oddly I started in the same place. As soon as I had warp... I put the AM station around Jool. I actually sent two... but the first one was still 100 days out when warp was completed and I had a couple thousand AM from my Kerbin AM farm. So I crashed the first, inferior and un-kermanned(?) station into the core of Jool. I still have things on my to-do list... like rescuing those poor Moho and Eelloo researchers and replacing them with unmanned CPU farms. They've not even been there an earth year yet... I'll get to them eventually. I'm still placing fuel stations and miners on/around all viable planets.. DARNIT! ~Steve
  22. Ok.. that thing is just nuts... and why I prefer my Jool station. SOOO much faster/easier. The best part... can warp back and forth at minimum speed at 5-10 hours each way. Of course it takes around 24-72 hours to link up with the Jool station once you hit the Jool SOI. Still.. every two months a 4 day max trip to bring back 1mil AM. ~Steve
  23. Anyone figure out yet a fun way to use the Asteroids with KSPI? I'm thinking that I might remake my Jool AMF (antimatter farm) into an asteroid based station... ~Steve
  24. Obviously, Mr Citizen Moderator, it's how can interstellar use asteroids... if at all. ~Steve
  25. Ok... so I've got a max sized Class E asteroid coming my way. The problem is.. what do I do with it when I capture it? I guess I could clamp a bunch of stuff on it to make it into my LKO station.... or I could try and take it on a grand tour! I wonder what the mass is going to be.. yeesh. Looks like it's going to weigh in at 150 tons. If I'm reading my quicksave file right. And it's named 'PotatoRoid'. How fun! Wait... it looks like they ALL have mass of 150.. regardless of size/class... wtf? Guess I'll have to catch it to find out. ~Steve
