  1. If that thing uses a 'warp drive', forget it. We\'re unto that kind of technology as our hunter-gatherer ancestors were to a hypersonic bomber. Call me a skeptic, but it just seems like another pipe dream to me.
  2. So, that\'s what it\'s like to look through the eyes of a broken, deranged man. Quite sad, actually.
  3. So, essentially a hybrid of the Dadaelus and Project Orion. I\'m all in. Right, though like RedDwarf said, it\'s not capable of being turned into a power source, we have been able to fuse stuff since the \'50s. Also, it works more like a type of controlled thermonuclear detonation than a 'conventional' tritium/deutrium reactor, using magnetic fields instead of a fission bomb. At least, that\'s what I can gather from the article.
  4. Well, fire is hot. Anyways, knowing the gov, they\'d probably get sued by the OSHA for not putting that up.
  5. I\'m going to agree with the others. Excalibur, you truly are a master Spacecraft Engineer.
  6. It\'s… Beautiful. I could never build something like that.
  7. Just curious: Is there actually any advantage of using turbojets over using solid/liquid strap-on boosters?
  8. Also, to build on Nibula\'s post, it\'s preferable to back up your game before installing any mods. A bad install of a plugin, or messing with the .cfg of certain parts without knowing what you\'r doing, can lead to disaster.
  9. Wow! Have you ever heard of minimalism? ...Also, the acronym should be C.A.I, not C.I.A. Just trying to help a fellow rocketeer out.
  10. Great job! One thing that I find adds to the challenge is that the SRBs have a tendancy to burn for a long time.
  11. …Don\'t forget that on the surface, the temperature is hot enough to melt lead due to the greenhouse effect. However, one can bypass the problem entirely by building aerostatic habitats and outposts high in the atmosphere.
  12. It\'ll be really nice when docking is implemented. That way, when you\'re done with the \'trak, you could park yourself back on the lander, dock, pack up, and launch back to dock with an orbiting transkerbal propulsion module.
  13. I\'m not sure this qualifies, as it uses modded parts (specifically the Kosmos pack and probodobodyne), but here\'s my Swift Mk.1. It\'s capable of a 200 Km. orbit with fuel to spare, and it\'s powered entirely by RCS to boot!
  14. Ladies and Gentlekerbs, I present the Swift Mk.I! Tipping the scales at only 4.6 tons, it\'s tiny, efficient, fun, and capable of achieving a 200 km orbit with plenty of fuel to spare. See the attatched catalog for extra photos and order form. Phoenix Aerospace - Space for All! Parts packs needed : Kosmos, Mechjeb
  15. Back on topic... It\'s easy! Just r-click on the tank just above the engine you wish to turn off, and click 'disable fuel flow'. Problem solved.
  16. KSP Forums and/or Roleplaying Name: Alexander. A Organization in KSP: Student at the University of Kalgary, and part-time columnist for the Kerbal Space Journal Your KSP imaginary Biography: Alex is the new kid on the block, so to speak. He\'s usually very quiet and soft spoken, keeping to himself when possible. An intellectual, and perhaps somewhat of a savant, he likes kicking back with a good book and a hot cup of tea. This guy\'s got high hopes for himself, though, and always strives to be the very best. Type of Article : Fake book review Approximate Length: ~200 words. Not very long, but just cram it into a column somewhere. They always had these close to the back, amidst the ads and such, right? Space for All? A New Era in Space Exploration Alex. A. - Times are a changing, aren\'t they? Following in the footsteps of the great Kerbal space program, startups and universities everywhere are turning their aspirations to the stars. The program itself is increasingly contracting private corporations, like C7 Industries, to supply parts and even resupply our orbital installations. No better time, then, to read Bill Kerman\'s new book; Space for All. Test pilot, kerbonaut, and author, Bill\'s already got a handful of best-sellers under his belt, among them Sailors of the Ebon Sea and To the Stars. I highly recommend these, and you should read them if you haven\'t already, but that\'s not what we\'re here for today. Space for All is an enlightening treatise on the ever-changing world of space exploration, and provides a unique firsthand view of what it\'s like to work amidst the hustle and bustle of the KSA. In it, he writes about training for the upcoming commercial flights, supervising the final assembly of the StarSpark orbiters, and of course, describing the new and exciting prospects of private spaceflight. Look for it at a bookstore near you. I came in expecting a winner, and I was right. This isn\'t one to miss. Rating: ***** Summarize Your Article Idea in less then 5 sentences: Review of 'Space for All? A New Era in Space Exploration', about the kerbals\' budding attempts at private spaceflight. The book provides a brief history of various private spaceflight, and details their possible implications.
  17. Yes. However, it has a somewhat alarming tendency to gave its front gear sink through the ground. Takes off just fine, though.
  18. -Clicks on eyebleach link. -Goes back to thread. -Produces a bag of popcorn and waits for the inevitable chaos that will arise once the mods arrive.
  19. Yep. No atmosphere, no parachutes. For braking, I recommend either the tiny engine (LVT-909, I believe) or a crapload of RCS. In fact, I\'ve seen people return to Kerbin with two RCS tanks and eight stock RCS thrusters. However, that\'s for experts, and I recommend giving yourself a fair amount of room for error. Remember; practice makes perfect.
  20. Wait, what? How? Also, where\'s the body from? C7 pack? I see you using a lot of strange modded parts.
  21. Sure! That\'s juts a picture of a circular orbit taken at an angle, and rotated 90 degrees!
