"What's that? Afraid of a little explosion? Don't be, it usually happens around here."

I showed the game to my friends, only two tried the demo. One of them played for one hour before ditching it, saying it was too hard and really not interested in space stuff (he didn't got to orbit). The other, last I've heard, made it to the Mun but doesn't want to buy the game, he's also not interested in that kind of game and finds it too hard. I guess is really hard to find people who like this kind of game Me, I love it!

are you with Mechjeb or Kerbal engineer
Jon Tash replied to robopilot99's topic in KSP1 Mods Discussions
I use VOID which I find better than Mechjeb and/or Kerbal Engineer because I can see the general readings of my position (Altitude, Long/Lat, Velocity/Dv, Biomes and more) without having to keep a window/panel on my screen. I play on a laptop so my screen is not that big and I like to have the UI as small as possible. More people should know about VOID it's really good! -
Nope, totally stopped playing the game. Now I'm somewhere boldly going where lots of others have gone before, Star Trek Online that is.

This one is one of the best or maybe THE best KSP video I've seen so far. Simply brilliant, Kubrick would be proud!

Oh, I see what you did there, I recognize that design. Nicely done, really great!

Move "Show off your awesome KSP pictures!" back to the General forum
Jon Tash replied to Huojin's topic in Kerbal Network
And now it's even worse, this poll was moved to the Forum Forum section where not even 1% of people read. -
do you use drogue chute to kill the KE of your plane when descending?
Jon Tash replied to lammatt's topic in KSP1 Discussion
I usually don't use drogue chutes. When entering the atmosphere of kerbin with a spaceplane I wait till the altitude is less than 5000 where my speed is usually at 200 m/s to make the spaceplane maneuverable enough to land at a specific target. I always try to go as fast as I can when entering the atmosphere and staying as long as I can in the zone where we see the entry effects. -
Large spaceplane construction: Tips and tricks, as I uncover them.

With just what you just showed us, my computer would probably blow up, can't run so many parts at once. -
I remember the first time I docked, it was a sunny day, the clouds were high and dispersed... At least somewhere on Earth I think. It took me 30 or 45 minutes to figure out how to dock properly. But in the end it was disappointing. Not because I found that easy to do if you understands orbital mechanics and 3D movements in relation to an other object but because I had an accident right after. Here is how it goes. The plan was simple, build a space station in orbit around Kerbin, the preferred altitude was 100km. The main module was already in orbit with several docking ports waiting to be used. I remember that it had two 1x6 solar panels but I wanted to have more power so I launched what I call a Solar Module, basically a module with big solar panels to power everything. I had planed to dock two Solar modules to the station, a little like the ISS, solar panels on two sides of the station. It took me half an hour to get the Solar module to the station, when I got there the sun got behind Kerbin and everything was dark. In that time, I had never used lights and till today I still forget to put lights on my stations or ships. It was dark but I got it all good, the approach was good, I had a lot of RCS to use if I wanted. I docked pretty easily but I didn't put the module in a good orientation so I undocked myself and docked again with a proper orientation so the panels wouldn't obstruct parts of the station core. I deployed the panels and looked at it for some minutes, warped so I could see the sun again and use the panels. I was happy with myself and with a smile I launched the other Solar Module and docked in record time to the station (it was dark again, apparently all my docking happens during night time, even today). I had the beginning of a working station ready to accommodate 5 kerbals total. To make good screenshots I EVA one of the Kerbals that was already there, don't remember his name but I will never forget what he did. The first thing I did, while EVA, was to hit accidentally one of the big solar panels. The panel broke and flew to another panel and broke it too (from the other module). I was suddenly angry with myself and gave the poor kerbal all the blame. I decided to leave the station with the "unlucky" kerbal and with another ship, days later, transferred all other kerbals out of the station leaving him behind. Some days later I build another station in a higher orbit and didn't make any accident. The unlucky kerbal stayed in the broken station till there was a new update from KSP (I usually restart a save when a new update comes). Some kerbals say that you can still hear him today when you are in the 100km altitude from kerbin. It was decided to never build a station in that altitude ever again.

The hardest thing in career mode? Huh, I really don't know, for me it's too easy. I hope they will make it harder with the incoming economy and contracts.

Urg not this again, why is this tread here? It took me a while to find it again. And don't spill coffee everywhere would you!

Its all raw data in the end after all.
Jon Tash replied to soldieroffilth's topic in KSP1 Discussion
I'm pretty sure that the science lab from the KSP Interstellar mod generate science when not actively flown, you just need to activate it one time and move on and make other things while the science lab is in orbit of Moho for example. -
Landed precisely on the right spot, else I would be falling down the crater.
-
I did something like that in the previous update, it was really fun but was done in a week (I usually play 6hours a day, every day). Now i'm feeling the same way as Whackjob. I'm playing less and less.

Duna base.

Those are Ion Hybrid Electric Engines. I modified them to use only Xenon and mass ton of electric charge instead of the mix of fuel and oxidizer.

Love this little thing.

The Xenso doing an orbital maneuver around the Mun. Its mission, orbit Moho. Just orbit, don't land.
-
I like how your story tells that they got rocketry before having the "meter". That's why the R&D in KSP makes no sense.
-
Testing yet another spaceplane SSTO prototype.

The Kerbals are learning transmutation circles now? Nicely done!

[insert image of Homer Simpson drooling here] This is what I need, those parts are beautifully done!

Taking the general design from inigma I decided to build two different proton like space plane. Pretty fun to fly and hover. Passing by the Duna express, waiting to launch.
