  1. Oooh I like that design! Double rings and a saucer section that looks like a ship coming from Star Trek.
  2. Exactly the way I think, the ARM update isn't a DLC or expansion, it's part of the stock game. Even the Dev (Harvester I think) said that they made some changes in the core code to implement the new mechanics of the ARM update.
  3. Oooooh so it's true! The legendary Golden Kerbal, King of Kings really exist! Epic!
  4. One update ago I builded a Mun lander on career mode. The thing is, during the building phase, I wasn't paying attention to the total Dv of my ship. I launched and made Kerbin orbit with ease, planed àmaneuver point to the Mun, orbited the Mun and landed. Pretty much the usual thing I do. What I hadn't planed was to launch a couple of kilometers and land at a different place, to get more science. And then I looked at my Dv left, I hadn't enough to get bat to Kerbin but I launched anyway and escaped the Mun directly placing myself at a trajectory to Kerbin that entered the atmosphere at around 60km. It wasn't enough to slow me down to get captured by the atmosphere. I made a couple of orbits before I was completely caught by the atmosphere. I splashed down on the ocean of Kerbin with parachutes minutes later with 0m/s of Dv left. The way I did my launch from the Mun to escape the Mun and enter the Kerbins atmosphere was a bold move but saved alot of Dv (I never do that normally). And everything was guesswork, I didn't calculate anything during this mission. Oh and by the way, Bob Kerman was the one piloting the ship.
  5. Yes those were the good old days and the best Dev communications. I remember when C7, Harvester and other Devs posted regularly on the forum for each update. We use to get screenshots from new stuff that we would get, even strange images that would excite the community for weeks (like NovaSilisko used to do).
  6. The only real canon that I see from the game and the animation video we have every other major update is that Kerbals are curious, they like to joke, compete between them and mostly, dreamers. Some of them are intelligent others aren't (just like we humans mostly). I believe they are united and always together for the greater goal. So no warmongers like humans.
  7. Pretty much what I do. I rarely use quicksave/load. If I use it, is because I know a specific mod can crash when I'm doing something that I shouldn't. If I make a mistake I tend to correct it if possible by my own means but not use quickload. It's really rare that I lose kerbals or something that I really need to keep safe.
  8. "You come out of warp drive and find yourself in the KSP solar system" and I would ask my helmsman why did we stop in an uninteresting system. Plot a new course to a more interesting star system and warp again.
  9. I am running at the moment 47 mods but I modify some of them. If they have fuel tanks I just delete the parts and use the procedural tanks instead with the appropriate texture. And I have also one folder where I keep some modified part from different mods that I use. In this folder there is also parts like the Leucome Engines that is no longer available to download but still works fine. If I want I could use more mods but that is all I want at the moment. Little info: I timed how long it take to load the game from the point where I clic on the launcher to the main menu screen. It take 4 minutes and 45 seconds.
  10. It's funny to think that this is our very own low tier Planetary Shield (just like in other sci-fi games) against aliens? I was thinking about the movie Battleship, the scene where the spaceships are about to enter the atmosphere and one of the ship is hit by a satellite. Interesting to see so many out there though. I say, let them stay there, they might be useful someday.
  11. I made a new VTOL aircraft, I'm working on making this thing a SSTO too.
  12. How do you fly your spacecraft? You ask? I fly it with style! ...And a keyboard. I have a joystick and a gamepad (PS3) and didn't like how it turned out so I stick to the simple keyboard and mouse.
  13. I would say Yes, it's too easy but only because I have really good experience about how the game is and what to do. If you don't have enough experience with the science involved, how the parts works and all the mechanics it can get pretty hard for a newcomers. It all depends in the experience of the player.
  14. Yes, I lost one time a ship when entering the atmosphere of Kerbin (in a completely stock game). I figured that my center of mass was too high when I wanted to point the engines to my vector (retrograde). The ship begun to spin and wanted to point the front of the craft to the ground, even the ASAS with RCS wasn't good enough. Several seconds later and the ship was totally uncontrollable, it was spinning around and around. It broke in two pieces. I saved the Kerbals that were in the part where the parachute deployed but the propulsion part of the ship crashed on the ground. It was interesting to experience that without Deadly-Reentery or FAR Since then I always look where my center of mass is (and will be when entering an atmosphere) when I put parachutes on. Drogue chutes saved so many kerbals.
  15. Yes, it "looks" better but doesn't "feel" better. It's just a texture/shader and it's hard as a rock.
  16. I voted for "Birth of the space program" because I always wanted to know how the Kerbals got the idea to explore space with a backstory to how did they even get to the near-space age. Off course everything in the movie would be canon to what Harvester would have imagined in his head.
  17. He's at the KSC bar waiting for a mission. I probably won't hire him in this current savegame because I want to hire new fresh Kerbals.
  18. I like to think the Kerbals are one united Civilization that has no competition and is not looking for one either.
  19. Apart from building rocket (or whatever) on off world with the Extraplanetary Launchpad Mod there is no benefit. But there is some people that like doing RP stuff too.
  20. Still upgrading my space station. A couple of modules and it will be done. Next future missions, after the remaining modules, will be launching Kerbals to the station. I need a minimum of 10 Kerbals in the station but I can stick way more if I want.
  21. I have already sent a 2nd colony, just have to merge 2 save files together and combine the colonies. Also once in a long while (when I feel like it x-D) the crew is replaced, riding on a big comfy interplanetary bi-plane shuttle :^) Interesting idea, a traveling base. I might try that soon. When I build bases I often put a nuclear reactor in the center so that if it explodes, it destroys the whole base and I can move on to build something new. My bases are generally multiple parts, landed one after the other and connected by pipes and what not (KAS mod).
  22. Of course, why not, I'm curious at how Squad will implement contracts and budgets. If it's better than the Mission Controller Extended Mod then it's a win from me.
  23. Nice flying there! Today I continued the construction of my Space Station and took all the RSC blocs out to help with FPS. I'm still a long way to finish it. 4 Kerbals live on the station now, they are having fun in the Workshop. It was mostly night time and had for a moment a Mun eclipse.
  24. Oh boy, it was a long time ago. When the forum was just a baby learning to post treads. C'ptn Skunky making funny jokes, Harvester actively posting in the forum, responding to players. And it was when 0.8 was out that I begun this voyage to the strange Kerbal Universe (and I never got out). There was no Mun, no map view, lots of parts overheating. The dark side of the planet was the danger zone and every kerbal(only Bill, Bob and Jeb) to go there should die immediately. The ocean was hard solid like the ground (nice shaders though). You had to learn the hard way, figure out your velocity, your vector, altitude and do the math to know if you were in a stable (mostly elliptic) orbit. There were palm trees next to the KSC. And most of all, it was fun as hell!
  25. I mostly plan out everything in my head, what component will go in, the layout, the energy consumption, how many kerbals will stay in (I use life support mods). I also test every major component on the ground before launching and dock everything in orbit. Every time I decide to build a station, it needs to have a purpose to be there in the first place. This one in the picture above is for science gathering.
