  1. Nutt, that image is not appropriate to post here. Do not post it again for any reason. History did indeed happen. Rules also happened. The rules here single out materials that could be interpreted as racist or overly offensive as being inappropriate, even if it is meant as a bit of a joke at the expense of historical accuracy.
  2. I think his mistake was that when the Yamato was sinking, he didn't continue to hammer upon it until it had broken up. The beam was sufficiently powerful to penetrate into the water and still inflict damage, if anything it would be more damaging that way because of the flooding that would result from multiple hull breaches. Also, glaring error in underestimating the capabilities of a handful of one man fighters. How many times will that same concept be a plot device... In terms of what that means for your claim to Laythe, my method would not at all be affected by those differences. And must we bring up sensitive topics again?
  3. Oh that is incredibly slick Chobit. Your Laythe defense system described earlier in this thread? An identical system designed for a different purpose is described in episodes 4 and 5. I see what you did there. And now I am sure I can beat that.
  4. Up to episode 4 now of Space Battleship Yamato. I like what I see so far, other than the usual technical details regarding how a few of the mechanisms work. Condensers should have temperature trips on them to raise an alarm long before they start melting.
  5. I actually determine mine using an algorithm that combines at least three different factors related to how it is used. That way I don't actually forget them- if by chance I don't know it off the top of my head I can determine what it was.
  6. I was referring to that in my post. Also, what he says about the reused passwords thing is completely true.
  7. I find it funny how the minute business interests began moving into facebook in earnest, regular users started moving out. And Google is evil. They already admitted to this, they control most of the world's information now and have evil plots in the works to make money with it. Except everything they can think of they either already do or somebody else does better.
  8. Typically the fuel is used instead of the oxygen- hot oxygen becomes too reactive and will literally eat hardware. But yes, most engines using LH2 or RP1 will pump fuel through passages in the nozzle throat and bell to keep the nozzle within its safe temperature range. The hot fuel atomizes easier with less risk of icing up an injector, making for better performance.
  9. Okay, then instead of relying on incineration do this. Make a concrete-lined trench about a meter deep, and flood this with SF6 gas, or other heavier-than-air nontoxic substance. The gas will stay in the bottom of the trench, and any stoats to try and cross will fall in and suffocate. You can then fish them out and skin them, as the pelts will be perfectly unaffected. Alternately you could use propane gas for this, for the added freak people out bonus of dropping a match into the trench for a literal firewall effect.
  10. Use Ethanol for this. Then the stoats are still incinerated on entry, but it is a fuel that burns with a smokeless blue flame so as not to attract unwanted attention or smell awful at all hours of the night. It would smell pleasantly like absinthe, or whiskey. Plus it's environmentally friendly, you can refine ethanol out of most common plant materials.
  11. This thread really is again going quite fast. No wonder you guys managed to get the counting thread to recordbreaking levels before the plug got pulled. Nobody is reading the posts above them. Like I said last night, take it easy. We've got all night. And assuming you correctly guessed the question I was going to ask, I'll have to make you an offer you can't refuse. The question then becomes what would that be.
  12. See I actually know a way to beat Chobit's defenses and capture Laythe. One that doesn't rely on superior firepower or skilled leadership. Course if I told you how, I'd have to use it on you before you could share it.
  13. That image is amazing. But it again begs a certain question that a lot of people would give their lives to find out. These two exactly. Then a simple underground bunker installation with a gunport barely larger than an ordinary oil well casing would be sufficient to fire at any time from the safe distance of several kilometers beneath the surface, well out of reach of most ion cannons and nukes. Build two or three of these on different bodies in the system and interlink their controls, and there's not an object large enough to be locked onto that isn't friendly left in the region. Unless someone starts using planet bombs. Not sure if your system could react fast enough to take them out, though it might.
  14. Just have to nitpick one little detail of SBY2199 episode 2. Why do they always have to wait for flywheel spin up when starting the engines in these things. Unless they're using flywheel type power conditioning which in a space application would double as a gyro and reaction wheel, its kind of redundant. But so far I like it. Kind of gives the impression of Evangelion level give it everything or be dead, with a much easier to appreciate scifi storyline.
  15. This could be bad. Indoctrination? This is one of the few Anime that I've been hooked on after a single episode. I usually wait until episode 4 to judge it.
  16. This. Portal itself was a proof of concept more than anything else, just pushing the game engine to its limits and seeing if the results would be popular. Portal2 they actually went through and made it a real game as well as hooking it neatly into the HL2 timeline. Also Chobit you've done a horrible thing. I'm watching the first episode of Battle Ship Yamato right now, and probably will get more of it.
  17. Note: Roleplaying on the KSP forum is discouraged. Though if you want to fashion this into an actual story and continue it, I know a few places that would gladly go with it.
  18. ...that didn't take long at all. I look away for a little while and I see you guys trying to destroy the universe again. Now excuse me while I try to get the Pinky and the Brain song out of my head for the 212th time today.
  19. Build a base on Laythe then? That way we can be sure that Laythecats actually exist.
  20. Originally this thread was an interesting conversation that was off topic for another thread and got split. But now it's getting really insane in here, and kinda long. Just take it easy you guys, although there is no set topic here that isn't an invitation to have a spamfest.
  21. I know this thread is a random thread of sorts, but my god things have gotten amazingly hyper in here.
  22. Thank you for pressing the self-destruct button. This thread will self-destruct in exactly two minutes.
  23. Hey, you have ALL violated the evil overlord list multiple times. >I will not build an unstoppable superweapon that has one very small inaccessible weakness > If I have an unstoppable superweapon, I will use it as early and often as possible. Chobit I missed it if you replied, any points of interest you can recommend on Laythe? Going to attempt a couple missions there, perhaps a colony.
