  1. After the death of Neil Armstrong, most of the news networks ran archive footage of various Apollo launches and I noticed the one* thing that was missing from KSC Where are the spectator stands? Maybe with scorecards for the awesomeness of the launch explosions? Boris * another thing is a flight control room containing a certain legendary flight controller.....
  2. Took me 23 evolutions of my mun rocket to make it to the mun and back on stock parts in the 0.12 release ALthough the tricky bit was always the actual mun landing... killed and stranded lots of kerbals, It was so annoying after 30 mins perfect flying to land with slightly too much sideways drift and knock an engine off..... and taking off on 2 engines rather than 3 just ment your kerbal's suffering was shorter. Best way to land I found is to aim for one of the big craters as its fairly flat in there, and fly your craft to a complete stop at about 3000-4000M up, then drift down controling the decent all the way, and remember you can use the RCS system (i,j,k,l) to control any remaining sideways drift. and then the cheer you give when you land safely is loud and annoying. Boris Followed by the groan as you pressed the spacebar to launch from the mun when you should have throttled the engines back up
  3. Gas giant... I'm off monolith hunting and maybe some hairy scarey aerobraking to get my ship into orbit * Boris *Usually followed by lithobraking
  4. What do I get for landing 2 ship next to each other, swapping over the crews and getting them home? http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561197964668916/screenshot/1155423501624414481?tab=public the fun part was trying to keep the 1st stage below the 4G limit that trashes the decouplers.. Boris
  5. 579 Not even mechjeb can keep your rocket flying in a straight line
  6. Dunno whats causing the break up.... just swapped the engines/legs for a more normal landing method, same parts, same rocket and brought it in manually with about 0.2 m/sec drift and <1 m/sec decent and it landed perfectly Hmmmm maybe the rocket parts are stronger when force is applied from below rather than \'above\' as I\'m trying to do Boris oh and I brought these 3 poor foo.. err brave heros back safely
  7. The method of breaking is that the lander legs touch down and instantly one of the fuel tanks breaks off and the whole lot just topples over and falls apart I know the lander legs themselves are well clear of the capsule, but i need to be able to dump off the landing rockets as theres no way of hauling all that weight back to kerbal, a brief lift off boost, stage, rotate the service module and fly home is the plan But time for another rebuild...... Someone pass me the hammer
  8. Seeing as the EVA stuff is coming, I decided to design a mun lander that placed the capsule close to the surface, http://cloud-2.steampowered.com/ugc/1171184187739975462/04502BF77D34C9EF17EADFF1D527F2950DAED20E/ As you can see, it has 3 fuel tanks/gimbal engines and some lander legs strapped to the return stage/service module Ok yes it has mechjeb... sadly it cant cope with the inverted landing mode But I\'ve brought the thing in at <0.1 m/s drift and <1 m/sec decent and every time its broken apart on landing, have the 3 engines/legs pointing down and it lands fine Any help/ideas/laughter? Boris <<fed up with stranding kerbals on the mun
