  1. The challenge: (don\'t) Break Records! The quickest trip to the dark side of the mun using Nova\'s or stock parts (Two categories will be created). Return is unnecessary, but if you can do it, it\'s the time till landing that counts for the time. Kerbin must not be visible from the ship to qualify. The reward categories: - International Superstar: Fastest time - Australian Cover Band: Close, but not quite the best! - Brain Damaged: The most ludicrous craft used. - Wham: Terrible, derivative, Jedward avant la lettre. (Slowest posted time)
  2. Yeah, although I\'d love more RCS in my tanks, I generally just use RCS because I\'m too lazy.
  3. I prefer adding winglets just for the look of the thing anyway. That and it saves on RCS and weight for lower stages.
  4. If the external tank is a radial decoupler, just split it up into two smaller parts, the bottom part of which would be tiny and weigh next to nothing but contain a large amount of fuel. Easy.
  5. A rabbit, then, suddenly, too many, commas.
  6. Awesome. Someone should write a 'rocketeering for dummies' book.
  7. I will become mod here one day and lock the topic on one of my own posts. It\'ll be glorious.
  8. (Although I do have a few older systems lying about, this one is my gaming rig) Cyrix 75MHz 16MB of RAM Hercules 4000XT with 64MB of SDRAM (That\'s right, my graphics card has more memory on it than my motherboard.) My current gaming rig though, is slightly pathetic by today\'s standards. Athlon 4200+ X2, MSI K9n Platinum 2GB corsair CMX2 PC6400 Radeon HD 4870 Screen: Iiyama Prolite E1900S 2ms My computer mouse is worth more than my ram and CPU put together. I remember when she was new and still had my old geforce 7950GT in her and was top of the range, she cost me 1500 euros, screen included. That screen is still one of the best I\'ve ever used by the way, even though it only reaches 1280x1024, it\'s just so very very good and has a near 180 degree viewing angle. She\'s going to be upgraded with a new mobo, hexacore CPU and perhaps a 6870 or so around christmas time though, and then I\'ll be right up there in the high midrange again for another year or so.
  9. Solar systems shouldn\'t spin, spinning isn\'t manly.
  10. I went halfway around the world and foamy circumnavigated kerbin.
  11. Yeah, it makes sense if you screw up the water part. It\'s also really damn unbalanced, I had to add two of the C7 RCS tanks to get her spaceworthy to any extent.
  12. Orbit achieved Apoapsis:126.223 Periapsis:121.364 My attempt for gold was sadly thwarted by my lack of skill as a pilot, not that the plane couldn\'t have done it, I messed up my reentry, causing me to have to fly an extremely long way to the KSP centre, I sadly ran out before I could enter the sea and then land on the runway. After retroburn and reorientation. But here\'s some other pics of me landing from 5km altitude and doing the boat speed run. Dive bombing manoevre! hitting full throttle to climb back out, it was getting a bit too hairy for me at that speed.
  13. 130m/s is sustainable. with this ship, going to have to do some fine tuning to beat foamy.
  14. The problem is that wings are more fragile than keels. I started this challenge with a biplane with lowered wing for hydrofoil usage, but landing without a parachute is impossible with that, and your wings will just get ripped off at any speed anyway. EDIT: I have achieved more than 100m/s on water, proof will follow in a second. EDIT2: Can\'t be arsed right now, but I\'ll do a run for the gold challenge later, my ship only needs an RCS tank adding for that. The only staging involved is for takeoff, since I need pylons for that. EDIT3: The first water speedrun pics are from a different flight apparently, I\'m an idiot who gets confused. Then I went around for a landing, didn\'t go 5km up, because I forgot that, but rest assured that she can do it. Then took off again, landed the other way around. Another water run followed by my final landing which I botched slightly
  15. Not really, just keep your roll in check while using RCS to manoeuvre the front around,
  16. Getting closer, created a plane which\'ll land on water survivably, now to get it to keep its wings on every time. Seahorse I Got a Seahorse II which survives every time, but I can\'t be arsed to take pics.
