SpaceX will launch it's first geo satellite Tue 3rd Dec
goldenpeach replied to Albert VDS's topic in Science & Spaceflight
Not the good launch for a first time I don't really know(it's my fourth launch(not including the one of thursday, even if it wasn't a launch)) but I can tell you that's the first time I see a launch aborted(after engine ignition, it's the second abort if I include tuesday "launch"). -

P.S.A (-ish) Crime is not never going to happen to you
goldenpeach replied to Cooly568's topic in The Lounge
Some say that the solution is to have armed guards in school. It only seem to be a solution(to me it's not a solution,by the way) when you are talking about firearms: try to convince someone that the solution to nuclear weapon treat is to give nuclear weapon to as much country as possible! -
I don't know exactly, but i think they have restriction like it has to be solid enough to withstand the launch, safe enough to not make the rocket explode, light enough to be placed in orbit... Don't quote me on this(nor on anything in this post), but I don't think they mind what you put in space, as long as it doesn't prevent them from making more launch or placing more satellite in orbit. Also, I don't think they discussed a lot about what they should do if someone wanted to pay 60 millions dollars to put a bus in orbit: who would do that(apart KSP players, of course ) EDIT: double ninja'd!

Alway send do an unmanned mission before the manned mission. Alway "test" the mission by sending an unmanned version of the craft(the same craft, but I stick a probe core on it) before launching the manned one.

Experiments should take time
goldenpeach replied to jfjohnny5's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
Not really, from my experience(with ISA mapsat) even if you are in a polar orbit, you might not scann all the planet. http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/27999-ISA-Mapsat-Ideal-and-Non-Ideal-Altitudes The first part of this thread explain very well why achieving a polar orbit is not enough. -
Armageddon vs Deep Impact (1998)
goldenpeach replied to Pawelk198604's topic in Science & Spaceflight
I think that the first sentence explain the whole movie: Why do film-maker don't seem to care about science? EDIT: actually, I remember that movie being aired on TV, I didn't watched the whole movie though. -
The "You know you're playing a lot of KSP when..." thread
goldenpeach replied to Phenom Anon X's topic in KSP1 Discussion
When KSP is set to start automatically when you open your computer(my case). When the first thing you think when someone ask you the height of the atmosphere(of earth) is 70KM(also my case ) -
Thank you so much for the link!

Hi! As the title (should) indicate, I have found a book written by Hadfield at my local library(for the anecdote: I decided to read it when I saw it was written by Hadfield). I haven't finished it yet, but so far it's pretty interesting! Here's the link(if you are interested): http://chrishadfield.ca Just something I wanted to share with you

How long for a geostationary or geosync orbit to degrade?
goldenpeach replied to ravener's topic in Science & Spaceflight
I think this is the only place you can hear something like this: we don't have enough fuel to crash convert the satellite into a earth atmosphere analyzer? Go to the mun instead! Just after typing this, I realized that I instinctively typed "mun" instead of "moon"; maybe I play too much KSP -
What are the space center buildings made of?
goldenpeach replied to rewdew2's topic in KSP1 Discussion
I'm sure they used bedrock, after all, they are in creative mode: the extraction cause no problem at all!
