While I will revisit the Spertnik set and smooth out the models, I've been really excited to finish the Microintel Spyglass Reconnaissance set. Pictures will follow as I settle on textures. Most of the models are done and unwrapped, but the textures either suck or just don't fit the aesthetic I'm going for. Think 60's Bond. Sort of. The Spyglass system contains a film canister housing (pod), a mission section, a main utility section, and a main engine section. Most of these components can be mixed and matched for science, recon, or any need. I've built some of the system in anticipation for .17 in terms of mission longevity (working reactor. This is mostly because I can't animate a solar panel yet), so there's that to look forward to as well. Questions, comments, critiques, whatever would be nice. Support is always welcome too. Q: Can I have your parts right now? A: No. Most of them don't work/are incomplete/look like crap/look like a 5 year old made them. Q: When will they be done? A: Soon. There are a lot of parts. I need to texture, test, debug, retest, retexture, and finish each one myself. Q: Does the telescope surface work? A: Yeah, kinda. It's actually pretty simple to make one. The multioptix actually works and zooms --sort of. There are limits to what the engine will do in space. Q: So, like, one of your parts might look like another part from someone else. Did you steal it again? A: I once made the mistake of using parts from other packs and didn't even think to ask permission. Dick move, my mistake. Now I just imitate their basic shape. The KSP community has far more talented artists than me, so they look like obvious knock-offs, but have an aesthetic and function that fits their purpose. You know what they say about flattery. Seriously, though. A fuel tank and satellite dish really only have a few shapes. All of them are new models unless specifically given permission. Thobewill's given permission to re-release parts from his defunct mk2 stock parts pack and Yorik not only provided a model, but gave permission to use his stuff. Q: Can we have the bronze Neil statue? A: No. I'm sorry. The model is open source, but I don't own it. KSP devs are pretty clear on that. I could ask for permission, but I'm selfish and want to have my own statue. He's like 5 meters tall. If I have time, I'll do a low-poly Apollo suit and release that. Q: Why should I download your parts? A: Well you probably shouldn't. Adding assets to the game can make it unstable. However, if you want to pretend you're an agent at SMERSH, you should do it. Q: Why do your parts suck? A: They don't. You suck. But on the off chance you don't and they actually do, it's because I'm not a pro modeler. I'm actually a historian. Q. How do you model like 5-10 things in only a few days? A. I'm a jobless hobo with a decent computer, coffee pot and 30 years of sci-fi inspiration and the ability to research really quickly. I also used to use Lightwave so I'm pretty familliar with the basics. Check the thread, too. There might be more. Magnetometer Meteorite detector: Radiothermal generator (the bigger one) Smaller RTG on a boom, similar to Pioneer - just a much shorter boom and fewer fins: I'm not clear on what this sensor does, but it kept popping up and it's easy to make, so there's this: And finally, not the best view, but here's the KH-11-like surface.

This thread can be deleted. New project supersedes this one. -
From command line or batch file input the following to regenerate gui maps (it's best if KSP is closed altogether): isa_MapGen.exe texture isa_MapGen.exe texture polar Easiest way is to just start a text file in your isa_mapsat plugin data folder, put those two lines in, and then change the .txt to .bat.

I love this. If you could find a way to telescope the hullcams, you'd be halfway there already. -

Thanks. Crafting an email right now to the group of people I just carelessly ripped off I love the dynasat set as is and MMI is amazing! I think my original goal was to make things more compatible with it, so no real changes there. I just checked out the new VB parts. Awesome work. I wasn't a huge fan of the textures at first, but now after seeing where it's all coming together, they look really cool. Some of the changes I've made to some of these mods might be redundant, so they'll be edited out as I go. -

So this is embarrassing... I wasn't even, you know, thinking, when I posted the alpha pack. I need permission to distribute resources from others' packs before I do. Not really sure why I didn't do this (and I really do apologize), but I'll work on it and post what I come up with. -
If you like ion engines, you can try my part hacks The batteries work with the dynavolt stuff. *snipped* - DC

These: http://kerbalspaceprogram.com/forum/showthread.php/7952-PLUGIN-PART-KSP-0-14-REL-0-91-Position-Navigation-Lights or these: http://kerbalspaceprogram.com/forum/showthread.php/9234-Omega-Areospace-Incompetance-you-can-beleive-in!-%28Floodlights-inside%29 I use both for different things. The Bigtrak also has a set of lights you can use. Navlights come in different colors.

*Counterfeit. I spelled it wrong. Hello KSP forums! Until the other day, I had enough fun playing KSP with about 900 of the extra parts available through mods. I quickly noticed a few things I would have liked to see, but was worried that I'd have missed the boat on suggestions, necroing threads, etc. I also didn't want to insult anyone by messing with their hard work -- in all honestly, 99.9% of these parts are perfect on their own. But I can't leave well enough alone! I've been developing some part hacks that fill the gaps I'd been noticing, but I'm not ready to pass them through testing just yet. I'd also like to make sure I'm not upsetting anyone by using their currently existing parts, even though all DCCC parts show up as separate from their original creations and are pretty clearly identified in game as cheap knockoffs built by used car salesmen. Since these parts really do belong to people other than me, I wouldn’t be upset if they took over the modifications in the least, but I’m hoping to make some kind of mark on KSP, as I’m currently modeling a few of my own actual models. Suggestions? Angry threats? Any input? Here's a list of some of my changes so far. Please go easy on me, I'm not really a forums-of-any-type kind of person: Dishy_cam: Probodobodyne Camera config as a mounted hullcam (I think). I love the look of the model and texture, but wished it had function. Still testing this. (description = This high-definition television camera is capable of displaying a perfect 575 line picture for use with most television networks. It's perfect for landings and special events!) Dishy_dish: A reconfig of the Probodobodyne Dish that works with the ISA mapper. Works fine so far. Another “just wish it had a function†situation. I’d have loved to do something with telemetry or some sort of radio aspect of exploration (deals with resolution/bandwidth over distance for the camera), but that kind of thing isn’t implemented yet and I don’t know how to make a plugin. (description = If it's suitable for a rooftop, it's suitable for the Mun, amirite?) Dishy_ext_battery: Dani-Sang’s MMI external battery even LOOKS like a battery. I love it, but it feels cheat-y. I reconfigured it to work a little more with MuMech (from my limited understanding of the solar power/recharging situation) and halved the capacity. (description = Someone lost an MMI external battery over the lake behind our factory. We slapped on a new coat of paint and replaced the core with one of our own rechargable batteries. No refund.) Dishy_Mag_Drive: A retexture and reconfig of Nomad’s FTL drive. This one is built as an ion engine, has some exhaust, weighs a ton, costs a fortune and is still overpowered (from 1000 thrust to 8000). Requires a LOT of energy to run for every long and is designed to rip off your ship simply by using it. Most people probably won’t use this kind of thing, but I think the pipes look cool. I’ve managed to manually fly it to Minmus and park it in orbit. Took about four hours, but it’s possible. Still working out some kinks in the texture. (description = This expensive-looking part incorporates the latest research into Magnetic Pulse engines and has been deemed a failure by 137 countries and agencies, but we've saved it for you. PLEASE NOTE: Applying more than 12% thrust of this module is not recommended or deemed possible by the laws of physics. Keep hands and feet away at all times. Remove jewelry, glasses, or pacemakers before use. Purchase of this module constitutes acceptance of Clause 32, subsection C, Paragraph 83 of the DCCC liability wavier.) Dishy_Mag_Drive_Battery: Same story here with Nomad’s FTL battery. Instead of having a liquid fuel cell with 9999 fuel@3 mass, I changed it to store 6000 energy as a ModuleKrBattery. The texture on this one needs to be scaled down as well. (description = This battery is meant to be paired with the DCCC Mag Drive. Do not stand within 60 meters. Ever.) *old image snipped* Dishy_microthrust: Kyle & Winston’s set is phenomenal. It even comes with a spin booster that would be perfect for a low-thrust liquid fuel engine onboard a satellite. Or at least I thought so! Reconfigured as a liquid engine and added fx. You’ll still have to rotate it on your own. Working that out. (description = A teeny tiny thruster body salvaged from fallen debris. It looks like it was once part of a solid rocket booster system and there's no way to refill it. We were able to salvage the nozzle, but not much else. Use of this module not recommended without adult supervision.) Dishysat_ISA: Going to say this one works. Another reconfig. Using MMI’s dish model. It’s actually been pretty useful on my own satellite deployments over the Mun, I liked being able to flush mount the dish (even upside-down). I’d like to retexture it, but all of that is locked up in the mu. (description = We're really hoping this will work as a mapping device, but it probably won't. It's still a dish so it'll still look snazzy on your ships. It's pretty fragile, though. External use only.) Dyna_compat_battery and Dyna_compat_ion_engine: Maraz’s battery and Thobewill’s engine both look amazing. I’ve reconfigured them to function more like the panels below. On click, the battery shows level! I had a hard time getting the indicator to show, so this happened and I kept it. The ion engine has had the thrust upped at a cost. (description = This "battery pack" is made from the highest quality post-consumer waste products. Not suitable for habitation.) (description = This Dynavolt compatible ion engine outputs slightly more than twice the thrust of the original, but requires %354 more power. It has also been internally lined with a lightweight heat resistant coating that may or may not contain nuts.) Dyna_compat_DSM_battery and Dyna_compat_DSM_ion_engine: Same story as above with reconfigs. Kockaspiton’s green foil bothered me a little bit, so I’ve retexed it with copper and a “death†placard to make it different. Thrust is upped a little and the battery compliments it, minus an issue with the vent colors. The ion engine, when paired with the right battery can launch a small satellite into orbit. I’m rethinking this… (description = This ion engine packs enough punch to move your space-based pleasure yacht into orbit, provided someone else got it into space. It's too heavy and too weak to use to land said pleasure yacht. Please don't try. We can't afford another lawsuit.) (description = This power cell has been made compatible with our line of solar cells and ion engines, but hasn't been tested in production yet. We've had a hell of a time stealing enough copper to make more than a few. Use at your own risk.) *old image snipped* Dyna_Compat_battery_micro and Dyna_Compat_Ion_engine_micro: something didn’t sit well with me with Yorik’s texture. I don’t know what it was, but to be honest the current texture I’ve applied isn’t very good either. I love the models for both, but I wanted them to look more like engine parts and not radioactive barrels. I’ve missed the mark a bit and I’m continuing work on it... Either way, I’ve made them more like cheap knock-offs to fill a smaller niche. (description = This micro version of "our" "battery pack" is capable of storing a charge, but there's no telling how much. It should work with satellites, but there are probably better options.) (description = This Dynavolt compatible micro ion engine is the smaller version of "our" ion engine and may be suitable for smaller probes if you're in the market for a "nice" piece of used laboratory equipment. The gimbal range is slightly increased.) *old image snipped* Dyna_compat_long and Dyna_compat_short: I really love the looks of the Kosmos short and long panel, but kept having problems with them functioning. So I reconfigured them to provide power like the Dynasat panels. Still tweaking. These things kick when they deploy. I love it. (description = It's a big ass solar panel. It provides a good deal of power. Or fire.) (description = We recovered some debris from a fallen space lab, but most of it was junk. Around that junk, we pieced together a small-medium sized solar panel. It provides a little bit of power when aimed at the sun, but it's more likely to cause severe lacerations to the installer.)
