It's unconventional, but if it works and isn't destructive, then I see no reason so condemn it. For example, when I get headaches I take about a fistful of hair from the very top of my head and pull until the pressure outways the headache. It works for me. No drugs required.

I ate Minmus cones when I was a wee Kerb and I turned out just fine. We also used to EVA on the OUTSIDE of the craft. Non of this sissy IVA nonsense. Today's space travel is such a Nanny-state. It's a conspiracy!

Quality Mods Sharing Niches with Stock Features
Greenfire32 replied to JedTech's topic in KSP1 Mods Discussions
That's because when a mod becomes obsolete, the small but vocal minority of zealots supporters will yell and holler about how Squad "stole" the idea from their mod and blah blah blah. When in reality, Squad has every right to develop their own game. -
Everyone's arguing over what constitutes life and I'm sitting over here like, "I just want Mars to have/had life SO bad!"
-
Wyoming eh? I got family/went to college around the Cody/Powell area. And there's only like...3 towns in Wyoming, so there's a good chance I ran into you at some point
-
I have 2 saves. 1 for sandbox and 1 for career. They both get deleted and restarted after every update though, so really I've had like a thousand saves
-
It's a bug as I experience this from time to time too. It usually happens after time warping, but it has showed up occasionally after returning to the craft from EVA. Usually I'll get a message saying no Kerbals or pilots are on board.

I absolutely support this. -
Quality Mods Sharing Niches with Stock Features
Greenfire32 replied to JedTech's topic in KSP1 Mods Discussions
There are some mods that were "endangered" since the moment of their creation just by nature. For example, the deadly re-entry mod and FAR make KSP better because the features added by those mods should be stock anyway. So to say that stock KSP is "encroaching" on these mods (implying that KSP is "stealing" from them) is a little silly in my opinion. Also, while I think that the mod itself is the property of the maker, I find it 100% within reason for the KSP devs to look at a mod and say "that's something that should probably be stock," and as long as they don't steal the mod maker's work (ie: they build their own "version"), it is totally within their rights to incorporate it. Nailed it. -
At first? I'll probably have a terrible time re-learning how to build rockets and planes now that the air flows the way it should. But after that, I'm going to seriously consider broadening my space program to include interplanetary explorations.

Greets from Montana!
-
I see you're building a rocket. Would you like some help? No. Alright. I can see you've got it all under control. Just remember, the pointy end goes up. Thanks, Walt. -ten minutes later- I see you're trying to add struts. Would you like some help. Waaaaaaaaaaaalt!

The really scary thing is that some people read the post and immediately went to another forum to post about it (like I almost did). The people on that forum probably have no idea that this isn't real and will further propagate misinformation. Had this been posted on April 1st, it would have "gotten" people and been relatively harmless. But because it's 12 days (2 days shy of 2 weeks) early, those connections aren't going to be made and Squad will have to do damage control something fierce.

He means EA as in "early access"
-
Wouldn't have happened if it was posted ON April 1st, not 12 days prior.
-
I disagree. What if they had made this post in January and said that the forum changes would take effect in April and then admitted in a PM that it was all an April Fool's joke? That's not smart humor. That's bad taste. There's a reason why April 1st pranks happen ON April 1st. So crap like this doesn't happen, and we can all have a laugh about it. Now, though, Squad's got a borderline PR CRISIS on their hands because not everyone is going to figure it out in a timely manner.
-
Making an April 1s joke 12 days early is a VERY good way to .... everyone off (as they have, click Robotengineer's link), because when it's that far out, there's no real connection. It would have been in MUCH better taste if they announced a new forum is coming on the day of April 1st, instead of 12 days before.
-
If by "certain features," you mean, "the entire forum," then yes...only "certain features." Let's recap: $10 to use emoticons and signatures? Something I can do....right now? $15 to search topics? Something I can do....right now? $25 to get access to relevant thread topics?! Something I can do....right now? Don't take this the wrong way, but how is that a "bonus?" How does me giving money to you benefit me in any way? That's not a bonus, it's a tax. Most, if not ALL moderators on every forum are comprised of volunteer staff. If you wanted to get paid to be a moderator, you need to actually apply for a job at Squad. Till then, you're on your own time, not theirs. I'll be leaving the forums if these "new and improved" updates actually make a landing. Problem is, though, it isn't April first. Not even close. It's more than a week away. So even if it is an April 1st joke, it's extremely poorly delivered.

What is the impending event/disaster coming to Kerbin...
Greenfire32 replied to justidutch's topic in KSP1 Discussion
I'm taking the easy way out and saying that nothing in the Atmosphere is changing, but the Kerbal's understanding of Aerodynamics has greatly improved. Allowing for more efficient aero-technologies. -
I'm confused. If the struts connect two seperate stages they will auto-disconnect upon staging. Also, if you undock a craft that is strutted to the main "mothership," the struts will auto-disconnect again. Unless it's for purely aesthetic reasons, but even then the struts disappear once they're disconnected. You can't actually see struts that aren't connected to anything. So...I guess I don't really follow why you would need to disengage the struts independently...

ZERO-G / Atmospheric Test Lab
Greenfire32 replied to SickSix's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
The only problem is that there is no real-world analogue for a Gravity Chamber. Sure, we've got vacuum chambers, but we've not yet figured out how to suck gravity out of any given space-only air. Seeing as how KSP is firmly rooted in the "real-world" when it comes to technology (mods excluded!) I cant see this becoming a thing. At least not officially. -
When/why do launch clamps disappear?
Greenfire32 replied to GeneCash's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
Sometimes debris is counted as "landed on [body]" and won't get deleted. This is probably what you're experiencing with the launch clamps. For example, I do a lot of Apollo-style Munar landings with a lander that comes down in two stages and leaves with one. The remaining stage is technically debris, but it's also "landed on the Mun" so the game doesn't delete it. I quite like this feature because it means I can leave more than just a flag at each landing site.
