I originally heard of it from Kurt's Far Lands or Bust videos, but it wasn't until he said that you could go from the surface of the planet to the surface of the moon without seeing any loading screens that I really took interest. Then I happen-chanced upon Scott Manley and immediately bought the game.

Realistic Rockomax "Mainsail" Liquid Engine
Greenfire32 replied to SybyAbraham's topic in KSP Fan Works
That's really good! If you've got particle effects down, I'd love to see that engine at full thrust -
Am I the first one to circumnavigate Kerbin by land?
Greenfire32 replied to Wooks's topic in KSP1 Mission Reports
Do you one better. Circumnavigate Kerbin in a rover made from wheels and a probe attached to a landed asteroid. The Roveroid. -
While I understand the gesture, I think it would be better if KSP dev's didn't add Ork as an easter egg. Not only is there a lack of a connection between Robin Williams and KSP, but it would give off the idea that he was a super influential person deserving of the "immortalization" that an easter egg would give him. Yes, there are hidden monuments to Neil Armstrong in KSP, but he walked on the moon. Not only is he relevant to the genre of KSP, but he changed the course of history for all mankind. Robin Williams was great, and I still cant imagine living in a world where he's dead – I grew up with his work after all, but he's got no place in KSP. Respectfully, I do not support the idea of adding Ork. Perhaps, if a dev really liked him and added him, it would be fine. But for the sake of the fandom? No.

Career without Science.
Greenfire32 replied to Doctor Axel's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
Ah ok, now I see what the difference is. -
Well no, the docking ports are the parts that do all the attaching (and those can be placed anywhere) but since the docking ports on the "+" part are all upside down, it's an educated guess that the docking port on top of the "+" is also upside down. Perhaps another image from another angle would be more helpful in this situation, but I'm 100% sure that the ports are facing the wrong way. That's probably because your ports are facing the wrong way. No you're not. This is new to you, that's all.

Docking (I'm sure this has been answered)
Greenfire32 replied to giddonah's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
Things that will help you with either the claw or a docking port: 1) RCS. For beginners and for more advanced users, even, RCS is an absolute must. You simply cannot make the fine tune adjustments and directional changes without it. Docking without RCS is more of a "challenge" than "proof of a master docker." 2) Whether with the claw or with a docking port, ALWAYS line your target/ target port up with either the North or South pole of the planet you're orbiting. What this does is anchor your target in orbit. While you and the target are in orbit, if you've correctly aligned your target, it will NEVER drift away from North/South. All you have to do to successfully dock is put your docking port/claw on the opposite pole of the target. Example (with docking ports): Target Port Facing South (180 degrees) {||||||} ....[].... ....[].... {||||||} Controlled Port Facing North (red line on navball) Imagine grabbing that text illustration and holding it between your index and thumb in front of you. Now, "holding" that illustration, if you move your hands in a circle that goes from the screen to you (and not in a circle that goes from your head to your feet), you can see that while the illustration does indeed rotate around an invisible "planet" in front of you, the docking ports never move in relation. They're always facing North and South. 3) If you haven't done so yet, make sure you "target" the actual docking port you're intending to dock with and make sure you right click and choose "control from here" on the port that you intend to do the docking with. Then, when you're about 20m away from your target, just line up the yellow prograde marker (make sure your speed is in target mode!) with the purple target marker. What this means is that you are traveling straight towards the targeted docking port. 4) Once you're within 10m of target, ignore the navball. You will be too close for it to help you anymore and will find yourself drifting (even with the prograde marker on top of the target marker). Go from eye here on out and you'll be much better off. 5) Lastly, and it goes without saying, learn the RCS keys. To make docking even easier, after "controlling from here," press V until your camera is in "chase mode" and center it directly behind your craft. Try controlling it with RCS now. You'll find it waaaay easier to maneuver. -
Career without Science.
Greenfire32 replied to Doctor Axel's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
With the exception of this: you just described Sandbox mode. -
Ehhh, I can't say I support this. Reason being that it is very much common knowledge that the bracket keys do this and if you (general) are in the vast minority of people who don't know that, then you (general) should have the foresight to look at the controls before going online and posting a new thread about how "thies gaem sux it not even werk!" Its basically the same thing as saying there should be a GUI buttons for steering your rocket because people don't know how to do that. I say, "learn the game." But you know...2 cents and grains of salt.

First, you post thread about hating 64-bit support. Then you comment in same thread: You do realize that 64-bit support will completely alleviate this problem, don't you? And as it stands right now, 64-bit KSP is extremely "beta" and waaaay less stable than the traditional 32-bit KSP. TL;DR You're complaining about nothing and 64-bit doesn't quite work yet anyway so calm down.

Contracts for Asteroids
Greenfire32 replied to Yarrula's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
Perhaps asteroid contracts only unlock when you've hit a certain part of the tech tree? I say that as someone who's not very far in the tech tree.... -
5/10 Not a fan of ponies or bronies, but I understand the appeal.

Fixed this for you.

I know many youtubers made the switch to twitch (busta rymes!) when the third copyright war broke out, but now that twitch is one with youtube.... This isn't good news at all. Pretty soon all the TV in the country will be from comcast and all the internet video will be from youtube... Monopolies are bad, mkay.

Can I change Gravity on Kerbin?
Greenfire32 replied to Fithian's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
I would VERY MUCH like the ability to "Hack Gravity=Mun" in the Debug menu so that when I build an MMU, I can test it in a "realistic" environment. The current Hack gravity command has led to an MMU that worked AMAZINGLY in the "Hacked Gravity," but...not so amazingly in the intended environment. -
Airplane doesnt fly well

No, but I did as an adult. Didn't see the appeal. -
Taking a break from this bugged game
Greenfire32 replied to CaelumEtAstra's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Mods are NOT developed by the Squad Dev team so.... ...OF COURSE they won't be compatible with new releases of KSP! And those game breaking "bugs" are probably being caused by all the incompatible mods you're running so.... -
Help! What wrong with my alt+F12!
Greenfire32 replied to AfterburnerDave's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
You probably need to hold the FN key to make your Function keys work. If your new laptop is a Mac, this can easily be changed in the system preferences (gearbox icon in the dock) so that Function keys work without the FN key being pressed (like on Windows). -
early game rescue missions are way too easy for too much gold.
Greenfire32 replied to lammatt's topic in KSP1 Discussion
I think it's because the value of a Kerbal life is more important than the value of testing a shiny new part. I, for one, am OK with rescue missions having a big reward. -
Allow the user to change contract sorting.
Greenfire32 replied to Neal's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
+1 support. I would KILL for a "sort by expiration date" or "sort by funds" option. -
Need help with a design
Greenfire32 replied to Foxster's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
The thing is though if these probes are going to be landed on the surface, they'll have to have some kind of engine to slow their descent. Especially if the target moon has no atmosphere. The rail gun method would only make your situation worse...exponentially...unless the target moon has atmo. Then it's a simple case of point, fire, deploy chute.
