They do on a per-update basis, but that gives us no real status on what the future holds. For example, Squad would normally say something like, " Next update is Areodynamics!" What does that mean? Are they including new airplane parts? Fairings? Will the current model be outright thrown away or will there be a buffer period for people to get used to the new model? Will we have "wind tunnels" to test potential crafts? All I'm saying is, they could be just a little more transparent and maybe not ONLY talk about the next immediate update, but perhaps the next 2 or 3 in advance as well.

But it doesn't have to be anything too terribly specific. Something like: "These are our goals for the next couple of updates (in no particular order): • Aerodynamics – You want a better model, We want a better model. Time to get it working! • Fairings – Kinda comes with the Aerodynamics so...better do that as well. • Telescopes & Other Star Systems Discovery. More info later • Bug fixes and Optimizations. Because of course. These are things that we are confirming being worked on for the next couple of updates. We don't know which is coming first, but this is what you can expect for the next couple of development cycles. You'll notice multiplayer isn't in there when we said we'd work on that. Don't worry, we still are, but it's not coming anytime soon." Just something that tells the community that they have new & exciting things coming for us. It doesn't have to be something that details the entire developmental process from now until "official release."

I don't know. I might actually start a career save, since I've never really felt that career mode had any "spirit" in the past. But I'd be lying if I said contracts don't attract me.

I captured and landed one (don't remember the class right off the top of my head) at the KSC and then attempted to capture another one. Got it into a stable orbit around Kerbin, but I've been experience a myriad of bugs and glitches concerning time warp and the Klaw so I've temporarily suspended all asteroid missions.

Well since it's a S.ingle S.tage T.o O.rbit craft, I'd say it belongs under the "Space" category...since it's a craft that ultimately ends up in space regardless of the delivery method. Many Kerbal boats are launched with either wheels or wings and then those parts are detached once in the water. I would consider that craft (clearly designed to end up in the water) as a boat. Etc etc. ----EDIT---- I should probably contribute to the thread a little lol I'm in favor of the sub-forum for non-space crafts (things like cars, boats, helicopters etc etc) since they are starting to rise in popularity and are beginning to "muddle" up the space-based vehicle pool

Auto-remove mod parts if mod is removed
Greenfire32 replied to Tortoise's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
Yes, but there's no way the base game could possibly have a record of every mod ever made (past, present, and future). So there's no way KSP could distinguish parts that are core rocket bits from parts that are "leaf" bits. The reason why the OP's suggestion won't ever work is because the base game would have to handle all the mod-checking rather than the mod itself due to the way mods are currently installed (there's no setup wizard, it's all manual). Upon starting the game, KSP would have to run checks to see which mods are installed and whether or not to remove parts based on the availability of mods. This can't happen because mods are developed independently from the base game and by people with absolutely zero connection to the official devs. There are mods that exist today, that didn't yesterday. There's no way for KSP to keep up with that. But let's say, theoretically, that it could and that there's a daily update that includes a database of every mod ever. KSP still wouldn't be able to tell a mod-engine from a mod-texture. It would only keep/disable mod-parts based on whether or not they exist (installed), and not by how important of a part it is. Removing/disabling crafts with mod-parts that are no longer present is not only the easiest way to do it, but also the only way to do it. You could, yes, but it would ultimately be easier for beginners and advanced players to just delete the craft and rebuild it from scratch in-game rather than try and edit the craft file. Which is currently what happens anyway. -
What do you want to see in 0.25?
Greenfire32 replied to Sun's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
Along with better aerodynamics and fairings, I'd like to see more vehicle types (helicopters, boats etc etc). Just...because. -
Poor Dudly lol

The most creative name I've done so far is "KISS" for my Kerbal International Space Station.
-
I'm not landing there. I've only JUST begun traveling to other planets at the moment. For now, I'm just sending camera probes to snap awesome pictures for the boys in the lab to drool over.

Auto-remove mod parts if mod is removed

Because then your ships would literally fall apart and scatter debris everywhere... -
I've been playing KSP since .12. I've landed on the Mun almost exclusively with only 2 manned missions to Minmus. I have never lost a Kerbal. Now, I've started to become more adventurous and have begun sending probes to other planets. In my travels, I recently came across an anamoly on the surface of Eve. I've looked at the wiki and searched the forum, but both sources tell me there aren't any easter eggs on Eve. This may not be an easter egg, per say, but it's still something to look at and I wanted to share it with you all as I've yet to see this posted anywhere. I present to you, "The Face of Eve!" Much like "The Face of Mars," more investigation may be required.

Kerbal space program or prison architect?
Greenfire32 replied to kania's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
asking a question like that on this forum is only going to get you some heavily biased answers but I, too, think KSP is the better deal in this case. -
Forgive my ignorance, but isn't an SSTO an SSTO as long as it's one singular craft? Doesn't that mean that as long as you don't drop any parts (or stages) there's nothing against saying a craft with 2 liquid fuel engines and 4 ion engines isn't an SSTO? So....couldn't you just use the 2 big engines to get into orbit and then use the ion engines to get to Eve? It feels like this isn't impossible, but perhaps rather improbable.

In traditional terms: Alpha) Game is being actively developed. Many features are still missing or broken. Development consists of adding new core features, mechanics, UI's, and bug fixing. Beta) Game is being actively developed. All features are implemented and are mostly functional. Development consists of bug fixing. Release) Game is no longer developed. All features are 100% functional. Development consists of minor updates and DLC. If we go off the traditional Alpha-Beta-Release time frame, then KSP is VERY much still in alpha. However, KSP does not follow the traditional model (it's more like Minecraft). Even still, though, the fact that parts of the game are not yet implemented (contracts are coming, but they're not here yet) means that even if the game is 99% playable, it's still in Alpha. "Alpha" and "Beta" are not determined by "how playable is this," but by "how complete is this."

Because we're running out of stuff to mine. -

That is an insanely cool concept. However, why would we ever want to colonize Venus? Isn't that like THE most hostile planet in our solar system? I mean if we found a way to harvest resources from Venus, sure I can understand a small operation of temporary housing (or something), but as far as honest to god long-term colonization? We'd have better luck living in an active volcano. -

I saw that too. If it's still up there, i'm going to try cleaning that mess up. Whoever put it up there nearly killed me on my return from the moon. Seriously, I came within 500m of some of that stuff. Scared me right to hell. ----EDIT---- Looks like somebody took care of it already. -
If Jupiter were a star, its moons would be waaaaaaayyyy to close to be in the Jupiter Goldilocks zone. Also, if Jupitar were to suddenly become a star, we'd all be dead and flung into deep space due to gravity magicks.

Actually, that's the one thing I'm fairly good at. Debris-less/minimal debris missions. -

I'd like to join this little expedition. Couple problems though: 1. I don't have DMP, just KMP, so I need to figure out how to get that going. 2. The farthest I've ever been is Minmus. Once. 3. I'm not really "good" at anything. No special skills here. That said, if I'm still welcome here, the name's Greenfire32.
