the ion engine is way too OP
Greenfire32 replied to lammatt's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
Um...ion engines are almost exclusively for interplanetary travel. They're impractical to use on short distances because their thrust is so low, but extremely valuable for long-term flights because of how efficient they are. This is an actual observed phenomenon, albiet in reverse: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quantum_Zeno_effect -
Um... Something at the Tracking Station is worrying me...
Greenfire32 replied to Tex's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Emergency Colony to Laythe, Kerbin is doomed! Not even Bruce Will'Kermin can save you! -
Regardless of what the point system encourages, the official qualifying factor is: "This challenge is to fly a plane" Therefore, one would correctly assume that since the vehicle needs to be a plane to be counted, said vehicle would need to land and take-off via the proper use of the runway (putting a rocket on the runway is not proper use). Obvious exception being the VTOL (but that STILL doesn't make rockets acceptable). It would also make the point system way more challenging. Yes, it is super easy to win this with a rocket, but the challenge is to do it with a plane. That's the point of these challenges: to be challenging.

What do I do with all these Asteroids?
Greenfire32 replied to Kerbonautical's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Click on the asteroid in the tracking station and then click the "Track" button next to where the abort/recover buttons are. Any asteroid that is being tracked will not despawn, allowing you to track it throughout the solar system. -
Okay, Squad. Put a "1" down on your kill sheet!

From personal experience...I can confirm. #whackisback -
What would be most easy to colonize?
Greenfire32 replied to Bearsh's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
Well only one of those is a planet, so to Duna I guess. All silliness aside though, I'd go for Laythe as it has liquid water and an atmosphere friendly to aircraft. -

lol I spelt it two different ways XD -
Well...they're still too big for all the pods we have now. I think having the Kerbals take up "imaginery space" inside pods is fine as it allows for smaller parts. You can still add their mass, but they can shrink in size for the sake of the game.

+1 I'd also add the ability to change the indicator colors. I've recently found out that neon-colors are hard to distinguish for me. Not quite colorblind, but close.

Project ASS ( asteroid space station)
Greenfire32 replied to maarten2208's topic in KSP1 Mission Reports
I have a KISS (Kerbal International Space Station), but now I must get an ASS! Together, they'll be the best darned KISSASS you've ever seen! -
Yeah I remember the "New Update! Wait...hotfix...ohp another one...wow another hotfix, I'm still downloading the last one....JESUS guys, now the download links are down!" days. I don't miss them. I much prefer the current release method over the old one.

Okay, Squad. Put a "1" down on your kill sheet!
Greenfire32 replied to Whackjob's topic in The Lounge
Like Apollo 13, Wackjob's computer is merely a setback. He's on a free-return trajectory with a steep, but survivable, re-entry angle. We'll see you after the blackout Wachjob. Looking for those chute pops now. -
Probably has something to do with a hijacking of the Kerbal digestive system... ...oh god...

What's next for KSP and NASA
Greenfire32 replied to Dimetime35c's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
Woah woah woah, don't misunderstand me now. I said the Mars One Mission begins in 4 years. Not that there would be people on Mars in 4 years. Here's the official timetable: http://www.mars-one.com/mission/roadmap The first Mars One crew launches in 2024. -
What's next for KSP and NASA
Greenfire32 replied to Dimetime35c's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
Well, there's always the Mars One mission that begins in 2018 (4 years guys. Mars colonization begins in 4.freaking.years.) I know that one's not technically NASA, but it's something they'll probably be a part of. Colony parts and missions is what I'm trying to say. -
It would seem that in order to get asteroids, you need a new save. Darn it all.
-
I still have all my saves, but I too am seeing no asteroids. Perhaps they only exist in career mode?

KMP v0.1.5.1 [0.23] [alpha] [inactive]
Greenfire32 replied to TehGimp666's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
The server list link in the OP is down or broken or whatever right now, so thank you for posting a new one. Thought I was out of luck there for a second! -
Every once in a while I'll hit that Atmospheric "wall" as well. Usually it's because I just keep adding more engines, more booster (MOAR ALL THE THINGS), but 100% of the time I just have to re-think my design. Less is surprisingly better in most cases.
-
If it were up to me, I'd boil it down to how much I'm attached to the already-running missions. If they're expendable and easily replacable, I say go for it. But if they're "vital" and big pain to replicate...I'd skip adding Remote Tech.

Docking ports. There aren't really a male to female set of parts you need. Just make sure you use the same size docking port or you won't have compatible parts. Also, the space station hub does not have its own docking ports. You have to add them. So many times I've gotten into orbit only to realize this... Edit: Ninja'd again!
