  1. What I did is I made a plane that's very light, but the secret is turbojets with circular intakes. the high intake air SUPERCHARGES them at low altitude.
  2. The challenge is simple, acquire the highest speed at low altitude. The following rules apply: 1. Must be jet powered only! The craft may not use any oxidizer, monopropellant, or Xenon. 2. Must take off horizontally from the runway (need not retain landing gear for the duration of the flight) 3. Screenshots! Must have screenshots of: -a. Your craft on the runway (preferrably moving). -b. Your craft in flight. -c. Your craft's Flight Log (can be accessed by pressing F3) This is neccessary, as top speed will be measured by Highest Speed Over Land --c1. For clarification, no, you are not allowed to jump out of your craft then take the flightlog screenshot. -d. The resources tab must be open at all times, as proof of appropriate fuel usage. -e. Any staging events that happen, such as drop-tanks, launch stages, wheel drops, etcetera. 4. Use of the dev console, particularly for part clipping, is exploitative and will be considered cheating for the purposes of this challenge. 5. This is primarily a stock challenge, so only stock parts are allowed, along with no other mods being installed. This means that CFG modding will earn you a permanent ban from the challenge. 6. No use of infiniglide, please. If you need more control, please use reaction wheels. (this doesn't mean no control surfaces, though.) 7. Keep under 500m, as this is the goal of this challenge. Exceptions are as such: -a. Subassembly Loader, as it does not interfere with craft capability, only ease of construction. -b. Mechjeb, for Mechjeb category entries. -c. Ferram Aerospace Research, but you must specify if you use it, as there will be a special accolade for users of that mod! -d. Kerbal Engineer Redux, as it only provides readouts, though use of this will disqualify from being stock.   3. Hey RocketTurtle. Personally, I find that having Ferram Aerospace Research installed helps a lot, because the wings actually work like... well... wings! Anyways, give it a shot, this is mostly due to KSP's bad aerodynamic physics
  4. Hi guys, seeing as tweakables are coming, I'd like to share my ideas. -Afterburners. After doing some research, I found this page : http://science.howstuffworks.com/transport/flight/modern/question374.htm And I thought "wow, that'd be nice in KSP!" So perhaps we could have an action group toggle, and a tweakable to add afterburner to jet engine (thus adding more mass, and reducing the ISP of the engine, but increasing the thrust by 50% or more, and having the afterburners flame-out if the air goes too low (afterburners use excess oxygen from the intakes.) -Different fuels = different effects. Perhaps we could get a selection of fuels to choose from. for example, Kerosene, LiquidFuel, RP-1, and LOX. these different fuels would be heavier, lighter, more efficient, less efficient, etc. maybe even special fuels for nuke engines, with drastic changes. (solid core or gas core, for example.) -Maybe an IVA update? As we all know, the IVA's are incomplete. Personally, I think it would be nice to have IVA for the "shuttle" cockpit (the big plane one) and for the inline jet cockpit (not the pointy one, the one you have to put nosecones on. It's essentially just a brown can inside there.) Thanks for reading guys, hopefully SQUAD will see this and take some into consideration.

  8. I cool myself down to 0.04 kelvin, putting myself in quantum physics. I then go to two hills at once, since quantum physics allow that. no matter what you do, with only one move, you can't claim my hill(s)!

I'd like some kind of rocky planet, with huge cave systems. you would be able to rove around in there and perhaps, when resources come out, mine resources from the cave walls, maybe with richer resources in the further reaches of the cave, with the heat building as you go further down. also, make it have water caves so we can go scuba-roving, maybe we can get scuba parts and crab legs while they're at it.   15. Granted, You kill someone else (crash landing) and are sentenced to a lifetime of prison. I wish for a holy pilot's licence that protects me from anything bad ever happening to me. Anything.

  19. Not to be a party-pooper, but aeronautics means navigation of the atmosphere, as in planes.
