  1. I fight with this too. I do symmetry, grab the parent and make it mirrored. If I touch it again, bam, symmetry broke and items crowded to one side or missing. Back to hand placement.. I like your glass cockpit and rounded wings btw. Some have seen this already cuz I hock my wares all over the internet. Tiny electric, wings unfold. With one RTG I could do 2 small reaction wheels at 100, and a 3rd if I kept it around 87ish percent. The 3rd one really was worth its extra weight.
  2. I think it's because they can't stretch. You know how you spin up a rotor and the blades pull away from the hub? I think the game isn't allowing stretching in your current configuration so it's limiting you to the top speed that it can without stretching. GL, keep at it.
  3. Never thought of it, but it sounds fun. Button 1 would extend piston 1 and retract 2-8, etc, etc. There's a weird problem though - If you use legs for force they gotta stay permanently extended for most stuff because they don't function as legs while they're retracting and extending. Can cause big bada-booms. Hey, what's that nice looking car in your sig?
  4. Not working my job this week, just burning vacation. So the ol' motorcar, a car which struggles with it's identity, but which I don't want to abandon, is getting a new landing leg engine. Probably.
  5. Lag usually does it for me. When it starts to feel uncomfortable and the fun factor goes down cuz frames are low, then it's too many parts.
  6. Welcome to the forums. This is looking really nice, specially the engine cowls. I like that you set a time goal measured in weeks. That's dedication. Keep us posted.
  7. Gotta keep this thread alive! Not a turboprop, but after many days of fiddling got a tiny leg-powered coaxial stuffed into a cargo bay. The tail decouples and folds out and redocks, then dumps all the heavy hardware. We use the new context menu of the landing legs and set spring strength to adjust power. Very exciting. link
  8. It's got those rectangle slots like you talked about. Rumor is it's off a firetruck. Probably 25lbs. Heavy rotor, so the come-down takes forever. No ground wire- grounds through frame.
  9. It's too bad there's so little interest in this niche. I appreciate your dedication to an unpopular subject. If you're interested in a collaboration we could install a barrel that spins in stock. We could stick it on a pole and spin it 360. 'Make a radiator cooling fan that spins too. All sorts of neat stuff. I'll try send a picture of my 6/12v mechanical siren. It's stashed back in the garage somewhere.
  10. I don't create with DLC parts yet, but if I see a DLC craft that I really wanna try I'll load it up. I'd say you do you. Make yourself happy first. If peeps don't DL, just hope maybe they enjoyed the photos and press on the the next project.
  11. I haven't had any luck cheating to orbit. What does it look like in Kerbin orbit from the runway spawn point? Would physics range extend work that far? I support Servo's definition and understand we'll all have different opinions on this. I appreciate the full disclosure about the crafts creation on the kerbalx page.
  12. Finished a stock kraken-blimp. Many days of tweaking. Very proud.
  13. The Lightyear Tire Company has provided us with many years of low-maintenance, explosion resistant quality products through their LY-series of fixed and retractable landing gear. Fearing slumping sales they've released a blimp to advertise the company brand, complete with logo. Unfortunately, due to copyright and frame rate issues, this version probably won't be released to the public. Although a safer non-commercialized version is now here. Flights available. Crafts seats 3 (1 pilot, plus 2 passengers if you don't mind your arm clipped through a panel). Come take a relaxing tour with unique views of the KSC, the island, and local mountains. Watch your favorite launches from restricted airspace! Here's a sample tour. If you're 1.5.1 qualified and ready to learn how to pilot her, here's the kerbalx. Careful, she's cursed by you-know-who. Special thanks to @erasmusguy for the cursed tech, @Azimech for the boost flaps, and @Castille7 for the moral support.
  14. Look at this beaut! Amelia Kerman must be around here somewhere..
  15. Hey, grats on the sticky pushpin! I like the smooth edges and corners on the fuselage. And the runway on top . I still ain't dared fly it myself yet tho.
  16. @NoobTool I got a chance to fly this last night and today. Took her to the island at about 90m/s. Landed successfully first time (took my time tho). This thing is really packed with technology - the no-craft-switching arm action, rock-solid engine bearings, and easy docking of engine parts (the method-of-which kinda blew my mind). It's got lots of fuel, but the mass is still dead center. Low part count and I had no reliability problems. The forward-motion jets are placed perfectly for a nice balance at speed so it's hand-free with SAS. There's a lot of impressive stuff going on here. Wanted to let you know it didn't go unnoticed. Oh, I did hit the jet reverse button at speed. Low altitude, didn't recover, but good for a few giggles.
  17. Here's what I ended up choosing for my pieces. I made a weird rover to move the pieces by lifting with landing gear. Sample play https://kerbalx.com/klond/chess
  18. Looks nice and square and straight and level. I think moving pieces while in orbit is probably the best way to do it. That said I wanna make a piece mover so I don't have to leave the runway. Having expansion parts really makes the board look proper.
  19. Just jerkin around on the water tonight. Trying to do a speed-paddleboat but mostly just getting spray. I'm also on my 3rd try to make a large 4 legged bot but I just can't get it to come together. 'Gotta get back to the chess set, and I got two different projects going with @Castille7. I haven't squeezed out a youtube vid for sometime so I'll have to do a quicky of something here in the stable.
  20. THAT is beautiful. I hope lots of people get to see this. I am very glad you shared this.
  21. Cutest jumbo ever I also thought knight=plane made sense cuz of the knights weird movement.
  22. I have been made aware that a couple pretty epic sets have been done in the past. Creators imgur handles are on their respective pages below. https://imgur.com/a/BY66H#yh8w1cQ and https://imgur.com/a/cYsIh#0 Lights to color the parts was inventive. 'Gonna go hit up google and see what a star wars chess set looks like.
