  1. What? I was talking about the resource models that I made back during the original run of that mechanic.
  2. If you're accessing the game in a beta version, it's inherently an "early" access, I'd say.
  3. Just want to point out Unity 5 isn't out officially yet - though it is in a beta phase, which is probably not yet stable enough to move KSP over to yet.
  4. IIRC a while ago it was talked about that those probably aren't coming as they "remove some of the spontaneity" from the game, I think was the phrase used. Not sure when that was, maybe someone can find the post... Yeah, my eyes didn't register that the text was link-colored. Sorry.
  5. Hrm. Just haven't seen a peep from Jesus or anyone else about it in a long time. Where's that quote from? edit: wow i need some caffiene or something i literally didn't see that was an url
  6. ... whatever happened to that, anyway? There was so much of a fuss made over it, and then it just sort of disappeared. Reminds me of... something. Are you kidding me? Look at Team Fortress 2, or Minecraft.
  7. Hopefully can = will? I think the majority of the playerbase would deeply appreciate that... for those that won't, that's why the difficulty options panel was added
  8. I am curious when in the history of game development the meanings of Alpha and Beta got all screwy. The way I remember it: Alpha = the time where you iterate quickly, adding lots of new features and not worrying too much about bugs. Beta = the vast majority of features implemented, not many new ones added during this phase, now mostly a long period bugfixing and balancing, testing kicks into high gear. Release = most bugs removed, game balanced, mostly just babysitting the game and patching stuff that goes wrong, with occasional content releases. So for me, I'd consider the current "1.0" here to be the final update of a traditional alpha phase. For, say, Minecraft, alpha/beta/1.0 were completely arbitrary milestones, with pretty much no change between them. Perhaps MC is the first game that pushed aside the traditional distinctions, not sure. Using the "original design document" as a yardstick amuses me a little, given I think the original-original-original design document was for a 2d "get as high as you can" rocket game?
  9. Maybe we should change the thread title to be more descriptive and less uselessly sensationalist. Mentioning that it's birds, not people, for starters.
  10. "We're not suggesting that there was a river-like flow of water. We're suggesting a process similar to debris flows, where a small amount of water mobilizes the sandy and rocky particles into a flow," Scully said. The curved gullies are significantly different from those formed by the flow of purely dry material, scientists said. "These features on Vesta share many characteristics with those formed by debris flows on Earth and Mars," Scully said. Neither am I. So let's perhaps trust the people who are qualified to explain this...
  11. I've been trying to acquire hobbies away from the computer. First up has been collecting vinyl. I deeply apologize to Scott Manley, who warned me it would quickly consume my life, and he was right. That dust mote wasn't visible until the flash illuminated it, and it's going to taunt me forever now. Also once the temperatures stop being arctic, I also am going to try and get back into model rocketry, and in particular build a rocket glider of some sort. I'm overcome with a strong desire to attempt collaborating with you at some point...
  12. Aren't "random post" threads against the rules?
  13. Not really directed at the thread, more some of the sentiment I've seen in articles and elsewhere.
  14. Do you remember when this forum was sane... Pepperidge farm remembers... I do too. That was nice...
  15. I wish people would distinguish between something being possible and something being a proven fact. http://www.slate.com/blogs/bad_astronomy/2011/02/14/no_theres_no_proof_of_a_giant_planet_in_the_outer_solar_system.html
  16. Kinda. Didn't have the chance to bring it to fruition, but my original future plans for Laythe were to make it intensely volcanic, with lots and lots of radiation from the van allen belts around Jool. Basically Io if Io had oceans and an atmosphere over top of its hideous volcanic surface.
  17. Voted other. NASA and SpaceX cooperating is the way I see it going.
  18. IIRC next launch is scheduled for 6:30 PM EST. Given the time of year, about sunset.
  19. 7/10 damn that's a lot of green things
  20. I started making an audio simulation of the landing when the video was released. Turns out I was pretty close already, and did some minor tweaks to fit my audio to the video:
  21. 0/10 I have never seen you before.
  22. Yeah, it's a bit of a conundrum honestly. I'm trying to think of a decent explanation for atmospheres, but it's gonna require some hard thinking to come up with an acceptable explanation. New physics might have to be the solution. I'd welcome some ideas on that front... Since you mention it, it would definitely be cool to come up with some equations for things. For example, a specific curve relating core radius to apparent mass, housed in a simple equation that, with enough data, you can uncover. The whole goal of the game will be doing that - exploring, learning, coming up with theories as to how things work in this weird crazy universe. I'm still thinking of a way it could be presented to the player in an easy-to-digest format that doesn't skip on the facts. I'd hope it can teach some people something, in particular about how scientific theories are developed. edit: That's not a render by the way, it's a screenshot. - - - Updated - - - Speaking of screenshots, my habit of posting random ones is returning
