What new science experiments would you like to see in Version 1.1?
Wjolcz replied to Birdco_Space's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Magnetometers and cameras/telescopes. Also an in-game sort of archive, where you would view the pictures and share them with the world for a small bit of reputation. Just like NASA posts their Hubble/Cassini/New Horizon/Dawn pictures on facebook and other social media. And the telescope could do the same, except it would generate randomly combined bits to create nebulas' or galaxies', or star clusters' pictures with a bit of inormation of what is going on in the pic with proper scientific terms. I would be actually really happy with low-res animations of pulsars rotating. -
It would be way easier to have a tweakable that changes the type of fuel the tanks hold. It would also be nice if tanks changed colour or had some other outside indication of what they hold.

Improved damage engine Idea
Wjolcz replied to G-rom's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
And bits of dirt/grass/regolith on the parts. The more the tanks roll down the hill the dirtier they get. -
Decaying Orbit Space Station
Wjolcz replied to Whirligig Girl's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
I would like to try this if someone provided a save with such station. -
Astronaut Salary
Wjolcz replied to More Boosters's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
That's still not as much as they could do with KIS and KAS implemented. -
Astronaut Salary
Wjolcz replied to More Boosters's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
OK, first of all this thread feels more like a feature discussion thread, so someone move it to S&DD maybe? Second of all, kerbals need to do something probes can't. I'm thinking KIS/KAS here. Probes don't have hands. If they could weld and detach things it would be worth paying them monthly. There are of course many other ways specific classes could be improved, but those green men really need to show their overall usefulness first. -
Improved damage engine Idea
Wjolcz replied to G-rom's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
I don't think it's a good idea to implement more models of the same part to make it look damaged. Instead parts could get scorch marks, scratches and other things like that as additional textures. Simple "bullet hole" effect like in FPS games. For example, if a tank was pierced and had a hole in it you would not want to fill it up, because it might catch fire. Or an engine that was exposed to high temperatures for too long (not sure how such an engine would look like after such treatment though) would be more prone to exploding or overheating. EDIT: What I have in mind when talking about overheated pieces of metal: This rainbow effect thing. -
Gotta agree Hoojiwana is really good at texturing too. But if the three of them were working on the parts the work should be somehow split. Maybe PJ could work on tanks, Hoojiwana on IVAs and Ven on engines, or the other way around. I think that would eliminate the possibility of hurting the stock and making it look inconsistent like it was in the past when 3+ people were working on texturing, IVAs and whatever at the same time. That's why rocket parts look so weird now and that's why PJ has to redo them.

What a time to be alive!
-
How long will it last?
-
Are you serious? Have you ever lived in a city with air that is barely breathable during winter, because people burn coal/rubber/plastic bags to keep their houses warm? I do live in such a place and I hate it.

Pilots: uses for them past early career?
Wjolcz replied to Snark's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
No auto pilot, please. Can we all agree that Pilots should be able to predict the landing site and check CoM, CoL and CoT in-flight? -
The new, longer jet engine models
Wjolcz replied to Red Iron Crown's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
Same. -
The new, longer jet engine models
Wjolcz replied to Red Iron Crown's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
I think it's a nice touch, but not really needed. It will ruin the smooth look of many VTOLs. Unless we get mk1 and mk2 (F-35-like) ducted fans. With opening tops and all that when activated. I would love to have those tbh. I didn't vote BTW. -
[1.2.x] Aviator Arsenal - World War 2 aircraft weaponry (v1.3)
Wjolcz replied to tetryds's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
I hope that the ball turret won't be bigger than the 1.25m fuel tanks, because I kinda want to build a Boulton Paul Defiant with it. -
Planetary Docking System
Wjolcz replied to s1l3nt_c0y0t3's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
Fuel hoses and 1.25m corridor sleeves, so it doesnt feel weird when transferring crew + some KIS/KAS tools for kerbals. -
What about a gas giant planet that mass is too low to become a star and doesn't produce any light, but has a giant ring system and is oriented like Uranus (about 90 degrees)? Would that be possible at 8 AU from the star? Wouldn't the rings get unstable? Could they be so big to block 22% of the star's light?
-
I would like to have it, but it's on the WNTS list, so I'm pretty sure SQUAD knows that wpeople want it.

Planets aren't very interesting right now. Apart from gathering science points and getting there for the sake of it they are kind of boring. How about we get random events? Like that flowing water on Mars recently? So how I see it is there are random events happening on the surface from time to time. Let's say you landed a base on the surface of Duna. You are on EVA walking around, connecting pipes and whatever, when suddenly you see a meteorite zipping overhead and hitting the surface a few kilometers away. A contract notification pops up telling you that you can go there and gather some extra data. Such events would last for an X amount of time and then disappear. Same thing applies to flowing water/lava, dust devils and whatever else is realistic and interesting enough to make people visit the place. Maybe a camera part would make the events more visible from orbit if a satellite with such part was placed around the planet/moon. I don't mean wheater changes here btw. It would be nice, but wouldn't be very realistic without the axial tilt.

About the parts: I agree with r4pt0r. Every player plays the game differently, so no point in deleting it from the stock game. But an artpass wouldn't be bad for some of them. The only thing I can come up when thinking about how to make planets more interesting is occasional/seasonal changes/events on their surfaces. Like that water thing on Mars recently. Or maybe some meteorites hitting the surface and leaving scorch marks. Such places would grant more science points, or something. I mean the science points system isn't something I like a lot, but unless it changes it could work like that. Another idea would be mapping the bodies. When you take your Telescope and look from an observatory on Kerbin it's just a blurry spot in the map view. Then you send a probe there with a camera part and more details are revealed. Edit: Actually this post is a slight off-top, so I'm making my own suggestion thread.
