I took a semester of PLC programing in college and have worked a little bit with them in a factory setting. Mostly through a graphical ladder logic interface. If anyone is interested about learning to program a PLC, here is a free simulator: http://www.thelearningpit.com/plc/psim/psim.html I used it while taking the class and it's kinda fun.

This photographer spent five years going to airshows trying to get this picture with a still camera. He took eight photos in about 2 seconds to get it. http://www.weather.com/news/science/jet-speed-sound-joe-broyles-photographer-20141014 I used to live next to a military training area and heard sonic booms all the time, but the biggest I have ever heard were the double sonic booms when the shuttle would land at Edwards Air Force Base.

I like that this method doesn't evolve using a hot plate, but I was surprised he used the blender to cut the potassium nitrate into a fine powder.

Have there been any solid studies on the health issues of breathing ionized air? I know doctors seem to be unsure about it. -
What would the target be for manned mission after Mars?
Tommygun replied to CaptRobau's topic in Science & Spaceflight
Possible goals: Mercury is like Moho, no one wants to go there. Venus is just too hard for humans with current technology and will stay that way for a very long time. A permanent Moon base/colony. A Permanent Mars colony. Asteroid Belt would be a good place for general science and research for much later mining, but it will bore the public. Jupiter is a good spot, the radiation will be a challenge. Saturn and Titan would be my choice, but it's harder to get to. Uranus, Neptune and Pluto (Yes I'm including Pluto) are just too far for any near future effort. -
The only thing I can think of is a negative number rounded to zero or negative zero that might be needed in calculating voltages in an electrical circuit? But that's just my guess. Or could it be used to represent a waveform number that is at zero, but is about to pass into negative numbers?

The Practicality of Hovering Vehicles
Tommygun replied to JMBuilder's topic in Science & Spaceflight
NFUN, pretty well summed up the problem. It's hard to know what to say with little to no information, so we have to look at what technology exist now or is near future(not counting on EM Drives yet). I wish you luck, but I hope you understand the skepticism, just don't take it personally. -
The Practicality of Hovering Vehicles

Well it's hard to comment without knowing what you have in mind. A few random thoughts on conventional hovercraft to think about: With hover cars, are blowing rocks at nearby cars and damaging paint going to be a problem with your design? Can your design handle driving parallel to long slopes and stay easily on a straight line? Will the hover boards blow dirt all over other pedestrians? -
I primarily use Microsoft Security Essentials, but I like to run from time to time Advanced Systems Care and Spy bot Search & Destroy. They help pick up things that Microsoft Security Essentials may miss or isn't meant to do, Both have free versions.

That's what Rosetta for......to decipher Littlefinger's plans? -
Well Potassium Permanganate isn't as toxic as Iodine Pentoxide which was also commonly used. Maybe it was chosen as it is easier and safer to handle? Well at least looking at the MSDS sheets. http://www.google.com/patents/US3101589 Does JPL or NASA have forums? I could find any. You might have better luck with Tripoli Rocketry Association or LDRS. http://www.tripoli.org/ http://ldrs34.org/

Yes, gets some DMagic love on this. It would be a great complimentary mod to Orbital Sciences. -

Here are two shots taken from the California coast. The photo taken at the peak, you can see at least four stars in it. Two are very faint and may not be viewable depending on your monitor's setting or dpi limits, there is also a dim sunspot. At the start of the eclipse. About 2:00PM At the peak of the eclipse. I have to turn both my cable modem and Wi-Fi boxes around to face the wall to keep them from making my room look like a low rent disco tech when I'm sleeping. I also have a problem with my computer slowly heating up the room to uncomfortable levels after a few hours. Both those issues will interfere with my rest.

Try these, although I'm not sure they work in 0.25. Soundtrack Editor: http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/65726-0-24-2-Soundtrack-Editor kTunes: http://www.curse.com/ksp-mods/kerbal/222945-ktunes

Here is a video of the landing. It's surprisingly noisy. This is somewhat related. It's a new sub-orbital space plane project that's in the works. DARPA XS-1: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/XS-1_%28spacecraft%29 Grumman's proposal: http://www.globenewswire.com/newsarchive/noc/press/pages/news_releases.html?d=10095324

Well if you look at a number of the current or more resent proposals like Project Hot Eagle, SUSTAIN, Common Aero Vehicle, Blackswift, DARPA's Falcon Project there is a desire out there. Some of these are hypersonic craft which I think blur the line between space planes and aircraft, but they have technology that can be applied to space planes. Some if not most may be unmanned, but they will want to put people on at least a few of them.

The Air Force is trying to maintain its relevance in a long term future where more conventional aircraft may not be ideal. Their logic may or may not be sound, but an aerospace plane, bomber or transporter is definitely something they want.
