  1. I try and keep it under 2to1 for the first stage to help keep it under 200 m/s, it helps with fuel efficiency. I also keep the other stages under 3to1 or lower, I just need it to make orbit. In space, I use whatever has the highest isp with enough thrust to get me somewhere in a reasonable amount of time.
  2. Wow that was fast. I'll need to upgrade Icky Russ 2 now.
  3. I was thinking you could build a smaller version of this, out of your parts pack, if there was something like a hollow landing bay part.
  4. That one is the Boeing North American Manned Mars Lander. It's from 1968, so it's hard to find good information on it. I did several long web searches on it a few months back when I made my own version of it from stock and modded parts. It was part of the Boeing's Integrated Program Plan Interplanetary Spacecraft I'll see if I still have any links for it. Edit: small article, just back ground information. https://falsesteps.wordpress.com/2012/08/08/mars-expedition-1969-nasas-waterloo/ http://www.astronautix.com/craft/mem.htm
  5. I think this is a more updated version of it. (not official)
  6. I had this issue with the mod. Although a lot of mods are having this same problem with the launch pad, I just thought I should pass this along. I think it may be a problem with the core game as even the stock parts sink in a little at times. Also did you mean to release the Hub without the final texture?
  7. Yes it's juvenile, but you still want one.
  8. Oh let the chaos begin! If you do this would it be possible to make some of the malfunctions repairable? It could give EVAs a purpose. Even internal station repairs could be represented by a troubleshooting flow chart with a GUI interface. Basically you choose your way through the chart and have a random chance of getting it right for each choice.
  9. The only thing I can think of is if it would be possible to make them work on water and land. Tracks have a paddle wheel effect when in water and will slowly drive an amphibious vehicle forward.
  10. Nicely done. Hopefully we will get IVAs similar to this in game at some point.
  11. Yes I do and I created a Saturn like ring of debris around Kerbin too.
  12. I just ran into an issue with the Octo Garage part. It passed right through the launch pad and exploded. This is an issue that has come up with other modders parts at the pad as well. Even stock parts sink into it a little. But if I attach something to the bottom, then it is OK.
  13. Something more like this, but higher up on the rocket? You then use a second section like your 16 meter shield for the middle area. This one is about 100 meters wide. It's the Eyeglass Telescope.
  14. Cool it's pre-broken in. I forgot to mention this before, the GUI names are reversed in the original FL-1 release. Open closes the doors and Close opens them, I haven't had a chance to check the new version yet.
  15. I almost suggested that and NASA has an Origami "expert"/engineer designing some of their antennas and dishes. Maybe something like? Something like a single bladed propeller, but you would have 30 or so single bladed props that all rotate out to make a circle shield. They would all rotate and store inline and then maybe rise up 90 degrees to be inline with the rocket. It may be easier and more realistic to go inflatable. Although I just had an odd idea of a inflatable heat shield with flexible scale armor made from the shuttle's heat tiles.
  16. They are from the newest version of RemoteTech: http://kerbalspaceprogram.com/remotetech-3/
  17. The flight of the Icky Russ 2 is going well so far.......the crew is another matter. Bob and Jeb aren't talking as Jeb left the thermometer back on Kerbin and then there's Bill......he's doing freaky things with the tanning beds again. 189 million meters above the Sun so far.
  18. I don't have a drop box, but if you PM me your Email address, I can send it to you. A long time ago, I need to re-watch it.
  19. I have had that issue with the clean cylinders too if I place them directly on the ground at the launch pad. I haven't tried with the other shapes, but I have also seen similar, though not as sever sinking with other parts both stock and mod parts on that launch pad.
  20. Well here is what I could do. It may come down to personal taste, but this works for me. I could do a silver one, but there is something about how gold looks. It looks like it's already reflecting the sun's image. I can almost feel the heat coming from that last picture.
