Is the shuttle built so that you could have two cargo bay pieces in a row, at least aesthetically?
-
I think I had an older version, which I thought was the latest. Found it now.

I'm looking for the large solar panels in the pic below. Most of the parts in that pic belong to the Kosmos mod, but the large solar panel isn't in it. I think it's based on the ISS solar panels.

[0.21.1] Flag Decals and Flagpole [New File Structure]
CaptRobau replied to StarVision's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Could you make the round and flat decals thinner? They're far too thick for my liking. Looks les like a decal and more like a big fat plaque. Appreciate the mod though. The flag pole is just perfect. -
Great, thanks.

I'd love to see a version of this mod with clouds. I like your mod, but can't live with a cloudless Kerbin or Laythe anymore.

Do you repurpose upper stages (and how)?
CaptRobau replied to Quantum Jim's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Its called 0 debris mode for me. -
Been around for almost exactly two years. Started with 0.16. Got on the forums pretty quick.

Might I suggest an adapter part so that the Shuttle can also be lifted on top of a normal rocket, àla the Dreamchaser?
-
I'm amazed that I haven't seen this thread before. Your work is absolutely superb. Can't wait for a release. I do have a suggestion though. Perhaps it's more fitting of the stock KSP style, if the shuttle didn't have a name on it aka Dauntless. Everyone names there ship differently, so it'd might be weird too see Dauntless on the side even tough you named it Clipper or something. Don't know how the rest feels about this though.

Had to go search for zzz's forum posts to find those other mods (which are awesome btw). A single thread would be more efficient.

The problem with this is that Kerbin is quite featureless and once you start walking, there's nothing to do but walk and the interesting bits is the stuff that everyone's already seen before (the big crater or the new mountains). In Minecraft Kurtjmac traveled through a randomly generated world that no-one had seen before and he could build stuff along the way, go off and explore an underground cave, etc. While I appreciate the enthusiasm, this walkathon would just be boring. I imagine you'd find it boring after a few episodes as well. Perhaps you could do a series exploring only the interesting parts of the planets. So one episode you try to land on one of the small islands on Kerbin, the other you fly through the crater where KSC2 is, etc. This way you could still have an exploration theme, but leave the doing-nothing-but-walking stuff out.

I scaled up the parts to twice the size and I'm amazed by how good it still looks. The light bouncing off the dome is amazing.

These are amazing! Lots of details and an interesting near-future space look. I'd definitely like to see more stuff from you. You seem to have a lot of skill.

The identical avatars you have made it seem like one person was talking himself.

How did you learn how to rendezvous and dock?
CaptRobau replied to Fox Arcana's topic in KSP1 Discussion
I think I used Scott Manley's video, but learned a lot while doing it. I'm still most proficient when using one of the Smart ASS settings in MechJeb, but I still manage to do most manually. It can just take longer, depending on where my approach ends up. The Romfarer docking cam helps a lot too. The crosshair on the camera shows you when you're perfectly aligned. -
[UNOFFICIAL/FANMADE] 0.22 Discussion thread
CaptRobau replied to ngianoplus's topic in KSP1 Discussion
I feel this update did a lot of background work, so I think we'll see a 0.22 with a lot of nifty features. Getting a basic career mode up and running seems to be the current focus. Those missions will probably entail what has been in real-life. So they'll be about getting into orbit, docking, landing on the Mun/Minmus and sending probes to the various planets. Such a set of missions requires a few things. First the Kerbal Knowledge Base needs to be expanded on. That means removing the planets from the map screen and have them (as they've talked about) and adding parts that will let us discover and analyze them. More sensors, telescopes, that sort of stuff. In line with this is the ability to do more stuff while on new moons/planets. Analyzing rocks, collecting soil samples, etc. I can't imagine that they'd implement basic career mode and not focus on letting us do more while landed on other planets/moons. Mining and resources won't come in 0.22. They allow missions beyond what we in real-life have done, so that stuff and their accompanying missions makes a lot more sense when career mode and basic exploration missions have been added. Tweakables will have arrived by the time we get resources, but it might be something we already see earlier as it'd be damn handy to have and it might be separate enough from resources to get included. -
Remote Guidance Units too weak
CaptRobau posted a topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
I was wondering if you would improve the performance of the Remote Guidance Units in 0.21, but apparently you haven't. Correct me if I'm wrong but these command parts are unmanned command pods in terms of reaction wheel strength. They're supposed to be used for putting large unmanned craft into space, such as space stations modules, or moving them once in space. For that they need to have similar reaction wheel strengths as the manned pods do, but unmanned and at possibly higher electrical charge consumption than normal probe bodies. Yet the largest of the two has half the reaction wheel strength of the smallest manned pod, meaning it's utterly incompetent at turning large craft/rockets. Right now, they're either bad manoeuvrable unmanned guidance units or large, but bad probe bodies with massive electrical consumption. -
Just let the devs fine-tune one of the most far-reaching changes to the game ever, instead of saying you either need to live with it or play another game. Some patience might make ASAS awesome again for both the people who are now saying nay and yay.
-
Yeah, as if ASAS and SAS wasn't confusing enough.
