kmp: april fools prank for my friend?
Duxwing replied to TheScareCake!'s topic in KSP1 Mods Discussions
Mind Screw Replace his station and landers with almost-perfect replicas. Switch the station's orbit and move his landers just far enough to make him wonder how they moved. Watch him nervously click around until Lovecraftian horror almost consumes him and shout "April Fools!". Orbital Terror Put a dense, huge cloud of debris on a retrograde Kerbolar orbit just beyond Kerbin's SOI's sweep. Put similar cloud on a retrograde orbit grazing his station. I recommend using 0.625 meter stack separators. For best results, perform both pranks at once: after surviving the debris, he will not expect another prank to await him. Lest he should hate you, keep a back-up save and ensure that all these replicas are upgrades. -Duxwing -
Multi Monitor Support
Duxwing replied to Duxwing's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
Therefore use oddly-many monitors. You could also have separate screens for separate purposes; e.g., one for flying and another for the map. -Duxwing -

Or you could have multiple simultaneous craft views! Imagine watching yourself dock your space-plane to a station. Add first-person EVA, and you could play Mirror's Edge in KSP. -Duxwing -
Extending KSP across multiple monitors would greatly increase its immersion and, with at least three monitors, enable players to simultaneously see their IVA, external view, and map view. -Duxwing

Almost all my parts disappeared, leaving only a tiny probe core and a micro monopropellant tank. I had freshly downloaded KSP and installed the two mods. -Duxwing -

"I see tanks of fuel-- huge engines, too! I see them boom for me and you, and I think to myself: what a wonderful world!" -Kerbals singing along at KSC's tremendous yearly fireworks festival "When Kerby roars, go indoors!" -Kerby the Safety Rocket during a KSC PSA for nearby residents. "How many stages does it take to get to the center of a Whakjob rocket? The world may never know!" -Whackjob Engineering's slogan. "Look, Bob! No hands!" -Jebediah throughout his missions. "Kerbals never yield!" -The KSC motto. "May the force be with you." -A literal truth spoken to each ascending rocket. -Duxwing

All flights simulated. No Kerbals harmed in this production. On the Interplanetary Shuttle Jebediah: Another day in the Interplanetary Shuttle drifts by like we about Kerbin. KSC, when will we venture Duna's far, foreign sands? Me: When the transfer window opens. Nice prose! Jebediah: Thanks be to you, whose mighty rockets hurl us--OH WAIT, THEY DON'T! Bob: We ought to launch soon. He's going postmodern. Jebediah: I is in ur kitchun, eetin ur dereetoze. Jebediah: I is in ur kitchun, eetin ur dereetoze. Jebediah: I is in ur kitchun, eetin ur dereetoze. Me: Jeb, stop! That's annoying! Bob: Oh, you think that is annoying? Try listening to it fourteen hours a day, seven days a week! Re-Entry from Minmus Bill: I think you miscalculated the burn: our Kerbinar periapsis is 20km. Me: Sounds about right. Bill: What? Bill: Wait... Bill: SON OF A KERM! Riding the Crew Lifter Me: How's the gravity turn? Richfrod: Tippy! Ferdos: Exhilarating! Elfal: Thrilling! Me: Very funny, Elfal. Get off the Crew Lifter frequency. Elfal: I can't. Me: What do you mean, you "can't"? Elfal: I lost all my bars after we breached the stratosphere! Landing the Delwyn 4 Elfal: I can see KSC! Me: Cut throttle and line up. Elfal: Alright. Elfal: The nose won't rise. Elfal: Have we tested landing with little fuel? Me: We will have soon! -Duxwing

Your ideal Interstellar vehicle/system (no FTL)
Duxwing replied to jfull's topic in Science & Spaceflight
A magsail beamrider infrastructure created by pioneering robots riding one-way antimatter rockets seems best. The antimatter rockets would comprise a massive charge before each payload, which would bear some NERVAs for orbital maneuvering. An orbital mass driver would magnetically accelerate the payload-charge complex and fire it towards the target, where the charge would fire to decelerate the craft. -Duxwing -
Using MechJeb is a skill like piloting: practice makes perfect. I use not MechJeb because my burns usually are too short and few to necessitate electronic assistance. -Duxwing PS Change the thread title to 'effective' not "affective". "Affective" means 'of affect' or loosely 'of feelings' whereas "effective" means 'useful'.
