I used to build a ton of planes. Then the new SAS happened. FAR just can't handle it, even with Pilot Assistant installed. Wobble-wobble-kaboom. Tweaking the PID controller values doesn't seem to help.

... is this? Don't 747's usually carry the extra engine under the wing, between the fuselage and the #2 engine?

Aw yiss. Looks like I'm gonna have to get new RAM when this update goes live. I doubt 8 gigs will be enough for all the fancy graphics mods with their high res textures...

FYI, the RemoteTech config allows you to do things like disabling the signal delay.

The Martin XB-51 almost looks like it could be the ancestor of the Lockheed L-1011 TriStar Just move the middle engine intake up a bit more, convert the T-tail into a fuselage mounted one, and mount the two other engines under the wings instead of on the fuselage. Ta-dah! Mini TriStar!

A dream I had last night: I met my friend at our local bus terminal. We were both on our way back home. He suggested we'd take the bus 22, but it had departed at 8:40 and it was already 8:45. I then told him we should use the bus 543 instead, then get off at the nearby gas station and change to the bus 510 which would take us home (these are all actual bus routes where we live - 22 used to run right through our neighborhood, and 510 still does. However, 543 doesn't use the same stops as 510 - in fact, it goes in a completely different direction). Anyways, we got on the bus and noticed it was right-hand-drive. That was really weird because we drive on the left in Finland. The driver was a middle-aged woman, probably between 50 and 60 years old. The next thing I remember is that we were driving down a small, bendy asphalt road in the middle of a birch forest. I, my friend and the driver were the only people on the bus. Then we arrived at large parking lot. Next to it (on the right side, when viewed from the entrance) were several low garage-like buildings. The parking lot itself was full of orange traffic cones that appeared to form a racing course of some sort. There was also a white or silver Cadillac Escalade parked on the opposite side of the parking lot. The driver stopped the bus and told me to take the wheel. I can't remember what happened next, but just before I woke up, I was chasing that Cadillac around the track. In a freaking bus. I was already pushing the thing to its limits. The woman was talking to me via a walkie-talkie. She told me to drive faster. I'm actually quite surprised I could remember things this well. I usually forget my dreams within seconds of waking up.

Sorry, but I just can't agree with this. If you check the setup I posted (PCPartPicker link), you'll see that it already includes an OS (Windows 10 Home 64-bit). Ubuntu and Linux Mint are also good OS choices if you want a free one. As for support - I'm assuming you mean technical support provided by the manufacturer, and you really don't need that unless you're a total noob with computers. You can find solutions to most problems with a bit of googling. This also applies to OSX so you'll be wasting money by calling tech support every time you have a problem. But, hey, it's your money, who am I to tell you what you should do with it.

I recall installing OSX on my ASUS G50V laptop a few years ago and it worked perfectly. Maybe things have changed since then. Of course, but I was talking about performance. The iMac will be great for video editing, watching movies and stuff like that, but if OP plans to use it for any kind of gaming or other GPU intensive things then it's the wrong choice. That mobile M290X is crap, it's less powerful than a $100 GTX 460 from 2010, I doubt it'd be able to run current gen games even at 1080p. 4K monitors really aren't too expensive anymore - around $500 to $600 for a mid range one - so if he's willing to sacrifice some image quality, he'll be able to build a system that kicks the iMac's ass and also lasts a lot longer before it needs to be upgraded again, and when it does, he only has to replace individual components, therefore also making it much cheaper in the long run.

Don't. The only reason to get an iMac is if you like OSX (Which can, by the way, be installed on a normal PC too). You can build an equally powerful custom rig for half the price. http://pcpartpicker.com/p/gPpYGX Here's a quick example setup (I did this in 5 mins so there may be room for improvements) which will completely wreck a Retina iMac while being nearly 50% cheaper. Just add a keyboard, a mouse and some speakers (or a headset) and you're good to go. To make it even more kickass, throw in an i7 processor and an R9 390 or a GTX 970 GPU. Heck, you could even get a GTX 980 or an R9 390X and it'd still be cheaper. I don't think I'll be upgrading for a while. I just got a new GPU a few months ago and the good ol' 2600k is still going strong.

Java or C#. Both are easy to learn, and since they're so similar, knowing one of them makes learning the other one a breeze. As for the Arduino - I really wouldn't recommend using one. The Arduino language is VERY limited and lacks many of the basic functions you can find on other programming languages so it's only good for very simple things.

Is anyone else having problems with USB bluetooth dongles? I tried three different models (ASUS, Belkin and some generic one) and they all return a "this device cannot start" error. Windows downloaded and installed the drivers automatically but they're still not working.

This is my go-anywhere exploration ship. It's powered by a nuclear reactor and a VASIMR engine and has 41km/s of dV when fully fueled. No. Air temperature doesn't matter. What matters is the core temperature of the CPU and GPU. High temperatures can decrease their lifetime. I have a rule of thumb for this: 60°C or less: Normal desktop use, light/medium gaming. Safe to run 24/7. 60°C to 90°C: Heavy gaming and other very resource intensive things. Safe as long as you don't run it 24/7 - 12 hours or less should be just fine. 90°C to 100°C: This should only happen during stress tests and never during normal use! Only safe for short periods at once - an hour or two at most! 100°C or more: Not safe - shut it down immediately! Identify the malfunctioning component and repair or replace it. If it looks like a software problem and you can't identify the cause, reset the BIOS and do a full reinstall.

Mods. Always. The welder mod just feels too hacky for my taste. I wish there was a mod for procedural girders so I could easily build long, non-wobbly structures.

No, that's not possible. You'll either have to do a full reinstall after the upgrade to access the partition tool, or you can try using a disk cloning software to create a copy of your filesystem on the SSD (I believe this can also be done by using the dd command line tool on Linux).

No, I'm running dual monitors. It recognized both of them and configured them automatically. All I had to do was disable the taskbar on the second monitor.

I have a GTX 970 and it worked great even before I installed the drivers. 1920x1080 resolution and everything was really smooth.

Has anyone figured out how to make the search bar use google as its default search engine? I've got chrome installed and set as default browser but for some reason the search bar still uses bing.
