  1. Yes. It's a hole from a speedboat bomb. (Which killed quite a few sailors).
  2. It's a real threat (if they come in swarms with effective missiles) And there's the real life example of the USS Cole... There's a reason the US Navy commissioned their own swarm boat attack system.
  3. Yeah... Unless we flung a 50 m/s speedboat, and even then, it would be too light to do much damage.
  4. Yes... 12 m/s impacts of dreadnoughts.
  5. 10/10 I really do enjoy seeing your craft. Many of your designs are unparalleled. EDIT: Zekes too.
  6. I hope you resurrect the Kentucky in time for 'Operation Desert Storm'. Our coalition needs fire support.
  7. Were... Have you updated it yet. Regardless, that was an awesome ship.
  8. And the DDG-51 could take it out from over 100 KM's away. (Harpoon)
  9. Not if you can keep the part count of your naval vessels under 800 (for large ships). It took a while, but I finally got the hang of removing the unnecessary parts.
  10. Brings back memories from the Falklands... I also think it's time I upsize my carrier fleet.
  11. Na. It just makes good ammunition for politicians to incite paranoia. 'THE RUSKIES ARE COMMING!! MORE WARSHIPS!!'
  12. Except for the part where the USSR claimed it was a dummy payload.
  13. I bet you guys haven't heard of the USSR's Polyus 'Satellite', which was a laser weapon with a black carbon paint coating to hide it from ground observers. It was originally to be deployed on the first launch of the Energia booster, but the Polyus has a navigational glitch and retroburned to its fiery death. XD And don't forget the ASM-135 US Air Force ASAT test. it resulted in orbital debris which were carbonized and extremely difficult to track from the surface.
  14. And that's why I try avoiding basing my naval ships off of large vessels.
  15. http://www.russianspaceweb.com/Cosmos-2499.html Hmm... seems similar to an old concept.
  16. Well, regardless of the poor experimental design, I still hope the research pans out... ... the implications for spacecraft could be huge.
  17. At least they conduct live-fires either in cordoned-off sea ranges and areas such as White Sands missile range. Or course, there's the accidental launches... but they're the exception. EDIT: If you're referring to the Air Force and CIA operating drones in the middle east, then the navy isn't far behind. X-47b, FTW!! ... And, yes. The SLBM proving launches are announced. Why else would the Chinese send out their spy vessels to collect 'telemetry data' when possible.
  18. Haha... Try doing that in San Diego... The US Navy doesn't take kindly to unannounced rocket launches while conducting training sorties.
  19. We don't have much info one the drive (It's purely theoretical), but from the known info, yes. I can already envisage the US Air Force dreaming up some... peacekeeping... platforms. EDIT: And with their resurgent military, the Japanese.
  20. KATEC welcomes the JMSDF Izumo Helicopter-Destroyer into our navy. Under 500 parts, but its huge.
