Mainly because Kerbin is the most-known body ingame, and Dres is barely visited by around 30% of players, as I see it. So Kerbin is like a business card of KSP. That's why I supposed it would be better. P.S. Thinking about the sizes, it should be called Pol then.

I have used something like: "Kerbin" is the name for fictional planet in video game called Kerbal Space Program. Actually this game has become a great learning tool, which attracts more and more people to learn more about astronomy and rocket science. This name is an honor for project which tryes to make people think about space scientific way.

There are two asteroids, which Vishnu Reddy had discovered in 2003 year: 2003 FB 122 and 2003 FC 122 Now he started the campaign to gather name proposal for those celestial bodies! If enough people would vote for name "Kerbin", i suppose KSP will have its own memorial up in the sky, where it leads us. I think, for the project that started like a video game, but acquired a status of best rocketry science simulator and mentioned by NASA, it is great honor to have a mark in the noble space. Fill in the query to propose your name for asteroid. And let this name be Kerbin. Let's take our place in the Universe. Let's make a mark in the infinity of space. First to say - welcome! Following - you have 4 levels of altitude to do science - low flying, high flying, low space, high space. Try making all science on all heights. "Flying" means within atmosphere, indeed. Also it worth mentioning that you can do kerbin launches. Go visit (I mean, land on) Poles, Desert, Mountains, Highlands, Shores. Do not forget Ocean also. Make EVA and grab some samples. (For ocean too!) Also, you do not need to go apollo style for Mun landing, what's more for Minmus landing. It is pretty much possible to do Mun landing in one piece, without undock-redock sequence. (And gives a BIG load of science, just take some solar panels with you to transmit, if your design seems to be short on delta-v to travel back from Mun) If you are not confident about mun landing, try landing on minmus first. Should be much easier due to small gravity well. (Previously Kerbals could even achieve stable orbit around it using jetpack, don't know if it has changed now). When landed successfully on Mun, launch another same rocket, and go land in all major craters. Different science is done in most of them. And also, do not try to buy everything on Tech tree. Specialize on needed equipment. Do not fear to read about what are you buying. It is better to save science points for needed equipment, than to spend all of them equally around. Also, if you are feeling lack of science points, develop Thermometers, pressure sensors, gravity sensors and go get some more science around. Plan to do for you - 1) get unmanned control module Stayputnik, some good solar panels and batteries, and nerva nuclear engines 2) make interplanetary unmanned mission too duna or eve. Do include all available science parts. 3) Transmit gathered science back to Kerbin. 4) ?????? 5) Profit! A bit messy, but sorry, I was trying to say everything from my head before forgetting something. Good luck!

I'd suggest the following achievements: "We need a kick" - have a fly-by trajectory of any body with atmosphere right above the atmosphere with no fuel left. (Supposing somebody failed aerobraking) "Pit stop" - have an escape trajectory after aerobraking "Over engineer 1st class" - Recover the vessel after at least orbital flight with more than 50% fuel left (Do not know if this is possible to spot though) "FIAL" - Have your rocket explode before take-off "Are you kidding?" - lose a Kerbal on EVA on the surface of planet (suppose that will be something like rover crashed the kerbal or some other silly situation) "That is not the droids we are looking for" - visit a crash site of another rocket after some time past the crash
