From the Kerbin to the Mun, return precise landing on Kerbin
3_bit replied to Pawelk198604's topic in KSP1 Discussion
With the Kerbal Crew Manifest mod you can create custom Kerbals. This makes it the best mod in my book. Michael Collins can now be my CSM pilot. -
[Stock 0.19.1] Lossless three-ton fun to Laythe

I'm going to do this all in one launch. Pics tomorrow. -
Nice find there. I really can't wait for more stuff from [FASA]. Could we get compatability between this release and Novapunch? It's irritating to see that if I'm using FASA and Novapunch together I have duplicate parts.

It is indeed from the Lazor system mod, something I haven't used in a while. It pretty much acts as a distance measuring device, useful if you're on moons, or, if you're really hardcore, doing your own cartography of planets and moons.

Asas problems with spaceplane
3_bit replied to Vlorp's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
Please post a .craft file or use Imgur to insert pictures. If there's no ASAS that may be your problem, or you may have your center of thrust far enough off that it causes these problems. Additionally, it could be due to too many/too few control surfaces (thrust-vectoring engines, canards, etc. From my experience, RCS has never overcompensated with ASAS, at least not bad enough to make the situation worse. You should consider turning it on at times if you're about to flip over. Remove the far plugin (it's for pros who like tweaking their planes for hours), and if that doesn't work, someone else will hopefully reply with more useful tips. -
I can't really explain it well, but you should really watch a proper rendezvous/docking tutorial video. Simply: If the target vessel is in front of you, burn retrograde. This will put you in an orbit that takes less time to complete, thus you can catch up; Vice versa if it's behind you. Once you're close (within ~30 k) kill all relative velocity (click on the navball until it says TGT and burn retrograde). Then aim at the purple/pink circle (as this is will point you towards the target vessel) and get up to 50 m/s relative velocity towards it. If you're somewhat far away, you may need to do some quick course corrections along the way. I do some complex tangent-to-target burns to save fuel, but you can just kill all relative velocity and start again if it's your first time rendezvousing. Good luck, and I hope this helps you. You can just eyeball the orbits when you're starting to rendezvous, matching orbits to begin with is useless if the target vessel isn't right in front of you. Just get the orbits similar, then follow my above instructions. If you're superstitious, make sure Jeb is at the helm of the vessel you're flying.

This is a replica of the original. It makes the Atlas a "1.5"-stage to orbit. Engineers decided it would be mechanically advantageous to just drop the engines and not the fuel tanks that ran to them, as adding equipment to detach these would end up ruining performance more than the weight reduction would help.

I use a modified atlas with 2 redstone boosters to do everything. #smallspaceprogram

If you are under these conditions, you can do it: 1. You are Scott Manley 2. Your pilot is Jebediah Kerman or Scott Manley -

Well what I want to see is someone go from TMI to Kerbin and land on KSC's Peninsula with no maneuvers whatsoever. -

Here's a replica of a Space Station that never was: I'm a big fan of doing the most with the least. Source of Station plans: http://history.nasa.gov/SP-4002/p1a.htm

Does anyone know if I can "lighten" the Ksp Data folder of 0.7.3? I'm trying to get a functional version running in under 50 MB.

Why can't we have long-burning tiny SRBs for our cute little Space Shuttle scale models? -
Banned for bumping this for no reason. Wait, what?

[0.19.1] "Stargazer" Segmented Orbital Antenna Array

Inset Doctor Evil Laser meme picture here. I'm sure you could start fires from space if all those arrays were refracting adjustable mirrors. -
there is a difference between "art" and "rocket science".

The best part is that there IS weapons: Planes can be kamakazied, and probes can be used to make missiles. How boring would a one-part missile be? This is KSP, not a cheap flight simulator!

Going on a joyride to visit one, sure... In the field of science, I guess you could visit one to see the effects of micrometeorite impact... It could be useful for future missions. Perhaps we could construct future landers out of multiple partitioned alloys, to see which ones take impacts and generally survive in space the best. I wouldn't mind finding a rover that looks like it belongs at MOMA. In fact, we could make an ART museum out of them if we had cool textures and colors of different metallic alloys that were tested on the rovers as part of them.

I've been playing for about 7 months now and I am totally pro. no Dv calculators or MechJeb rendezvous landings here... I can land with pinpoint accuracy and dock at lightning speeds.

Bump... Because it's science.
