  1. You've probably tried this already, but using a Mun landing vehicle from the Spacecraft Exchange along with a tutorial video may be of use.
  2. Banned for having been banned. Banception.
  3. I just like probes. Robiticist, as I call it. I mod, and use Mechjeb for painfully long ion burns and dV checks in the VAB. I sometimes use it (not often) for frequent-used reliable Launch Vehicles.
  4. I'm used to Premiere, however, and I know it's features. All that aside, I hope Squad makes more... advanced action group systems. The second they do I'll make a more elaborate system. Until then, I have drafted a basic computer-like system, accounting for game limitations. This is .19, so by the day 1.0 comes out I can almost guarantee a more lifelike system will exist.
  5. EARM... UH.... I mean I cheat and use launch clamps to raise it that high.... Yea that's right!
  6. Something I didn't notice at first but is shown in the photo is that we can build on Launch Clamps now. Nice job hiding that where we didn't look, Capt'n. I look forward to easier boarding procedures for my oversized ships in .20
  7. Absolutely wrong. Scott Manley said it varies per Launch Vehicle but is mostly at 10km. There's more science than that. Sure, 10km is standard, but I'm looking for the science and formulas behind it.
  8. If you're using a probe and have no electric charge, it will most definitely not finish. Add a few RTGs to the ship.
  9. FYI: The lunar landing vehicle was called the LEM.
  10. I am a real pro at KSP, but have this simple question: How do I calculate when to start my Gravity-turns in KSP? I typically aim for a 75x75km or 100x100km orbit, and want to make somewhat more efficient rockets. If I'm flying a heavy slow one I'll wait until ~17km if I really need the vertical speed, most I start at 11km, and the lightest at 10km. Expert-level question I guess.
  11. YAY! BTW, that cube-like docking thing at the left of the image is useless. It's really sad, but there's no built-in docking ports on it. Yes, all of us fell for it when those pesky Rockomax employees made an April Fools joke in November...
  12. Forget that, actually it's trying to get Mechjeb to fly my hybrid Jet-Nuke SSTOs for me. Of course, with me turning off the jets.
  13. I remember someone getting to the moon in under 15 minutes on the mission clock in a challenge that was wiped in The Purge... I imagine making a massive nuclear powered vessel to get somewhere fast might be worthwhile. After all, Aerobraking fixes everything. I built a ship with ~20k m/s dV and burned it out in about 10 minutes. It had 9 nukes.
  14. Odd coincidence, last month I started work on a cubesat mod. It's my first mod and won't be released for a long time, but will be 1:1 scale and have a variety of addons like Mechjeb, ion drives, docking ports, landing legs, etc. As I said, long wait involved.
  15. What Spirit and Opportunity accomplished in 5 years could have been done in 1 week if there had been a manned landing in it's place. Citation: Buzz Aldrin interview I believe that says enough about that.
  16. Didn't even notice you guys posted until now. Action groups CAN toggle lights, but you can't do pseudo-logic to the extent I can with my system.
  17. He won't, because now we ALL know we're going to do that first thing in .19.2 or .20, whichever comes first. Probably .20, as HarvestR did rewrite some VAB stuff regarding root parts, and that's its own whole other story.
  18. We all have those embarrassing rescue missions... I remember being stuck in orbit of Gilly after circularizing with only RCS left. My orbital velocity being ~8 m/s, I had no problems landing via EVA.
  19. I'm planning on using no more than 2.1 k/s dV by using a tiny ion engine (lower thrust than RCS) to change my heading so I can aerobrake at laythe. If all goes wrong, I'll be on course for an ocean. BTW, the 2.1 k should be a bit more than enough to get from LKO to laythe I believe. Probably less if I were to use a slingshot.
  20. Are you sure we CAN just strap a bunch of mainsails together?
  21. But GLaDOS can run on my Potato! I actually thought this was spam for a moment, but this is actually pretty cool. Nice work. I might try and build something like this (but with a much lower part count)
  22. This is awesome, but I'm not a big fan of the title. I was drawn here because of the title, and I had no idea what the craft was like. Now, a title like "Every Spaceport should have this Utility VTOL. Does yours?" would be more appropriate.
  23. The problem is your pixel light count. Press escape in-flight and turn it up. From what I have found, you can only so many lights on per setting until the lights overlap enough to make problems if you do not increase the pixel light count.
