  1. T:A is not an MMO. If you want to play a first person shooter MMO, get into Planetside 2 (once it goes out of beta, that is). Which is what I've done. T:A was fun, but now that I can play PS2 I just find myself completely unmotivated to go back to it.
  2. And don't forget about ST: The Motion Picture: That's four different celestial bodies in the sky at the same time, one of which is way too big to be a moon. Can't wait to see such a sight in KSP.
  3. Nice video. One thing I noticed is that you\'re launching your Valkyrie from the runway. You can actually launch spacecraft constructed in the SPH from the launch pad if you want. Just copy the .craft file from the SPH folder to the VAB folder, load it up in the VAB, rotate it so that it stands vertically, and you\'re ready to go.
  4. Come to think of it, a multiplayer wargame where you can put your machines together from parts would be amazing.
  5. Indeed. The early KSP was especially educational. No map, no orbital path projection, you had just your speed and heading and good luck with that. I actually had to look up equations for orbital speeds and put them into WolframAlpha to get anywhere. That\'s what I call a hardcore game. Now it\'s been made easy for them dirty casuals.
  6. Eh, I preferred the old black and yellow stripes, if I\'m honest. The sheer irony of kerbals having safety markings like that all over the place was just hilarious. This thing... you can\'t even tell that it\'s a safety stripe unless you take the time to pause the video and read the text. Interestingly, in the game it says 'Avionics Access 1' instead and the stripe is slightly different (in that it has small bits in the corners that the one in the video doesn\'t have). As a side note, the small 1-kerbal pod says 'Warning, hatch may open' under the hatch. That really fills you with confidence, doesn\'t it? ;P
  7. The framerate drops for me even when I\'m standing still. It\'s definitely physics-related, though. When I open the menu (i.e. pause the game and thereby the physics) the framerate reset to smooth, then gradually tanks again. Very weird.
  8. That\'s actually pretty disturbing, because that means there\'s a kerbal suffocating while his eyes bulge out. Well, more than usual. I bet you that actually exists in the game. Sadly, it\'ll take a smarter person than me to figure out where it is.
  9. I have a pretty good computer as well. The framerate goes down gradually, which is very weird. It starts off low, because the game is loading terrain, so as usual I open the menu to make it load faster. When I close the menu the game is running smoothly, but over about ten seconds the framerate gradually decreases until it\'s just a very very slow slideshow. Very odd.
  10. False, hybrids between animals with different numbers of chromosomes are possible and in fact there are many examples. The best known of these is the mule, which has 63 chromosomes while its parents have 64 and 62. Their fertility is poor, yes, more so in males, but there have been dozens of documented cases of female mules giving birth to offspring when mated with a pure horse or a pure donkey. I\'m shocked that one so well-versed in biology as you does not know this.
  11. That\'s not a flight sim. It just isn\'t, some of the planes don\'t even have cockpit view. It doesn\'t support head tracking (at least I couldn\'t get it to work at all). And it comes preconfigured for use with a 360 pad and it\'s controllable perfectly well with that. That should really tell you everything you need to know about the physics and flight modeling. It\'s a decent F2P arcadey flying game. But a flight sim? No. No it isn\'t. Actually you only get 2 planes for free, one for each side, a Spad something and an Albatros something. The biggest problem with RoF is the business model. The sim itself is excellent and it has an incredible damage model (see it in action [noembed] [/noembed]), but each plane is like ten bucks and there are dozens of them. I\'d recommend this one as well, it is truly the benchmark of mil sims. You can get it on gog.com for a pittance with no DRM. I actually quite like Il-2 Cliffs of Dover. It\'s much more hardcore than even the original Il-2, but even after a year of patches it still has some bugs and performance problems. Then again, it took Il-2 Forgotten Battles almost ten years of patches, sequels, and expansion packs to get to the state that it\'s in now, so I have no doubt that CloD will get there too eventually.
  12. How long did you test it? In my experience, ships with large numbers of parts cause framerate drops while the game is loading the terrain and also cause the loading of the terrain to take much longer than it should. Loading the terrain somehow conflicts with the physics and the engine doesn\'t seem able to do both at the same time without a massive performance hit. What I usually do is press Esc (or hold it down, rather, to make sure the game registers it) to open the menu. That pauses the physics and allows the game to load the terrain almost instantly. Close the menu and boom, good framerate. I find doing this is a lot faster than waiting for the framerate to smooth out on its own (which it will, eventually). Also, are you planning to do other games besides KSP? I loved that Silent Hunter series...

    Planetside 2

If only because it\'s the only faction that\'s able to call the others 'rebel scum'.
  14. Wait, what? You found a binary of a star and a black hole? Name of object, please?
  15. *collects jaw from floor*
  16. Oh hell yes. Can\'t wait to get my grubby paws on it. C\'mon, download faster!
  17. I don\'t get what\'s so great about this. It\'s a tablet. All of those are inherently pointless because of the touchscreen-only controls, which are useless for both work and gaming. To get around that, MS has attached a keyboard to their tablet to create... well, a laptop with a really flimsy keyboard, which means you won\'t be able to use it anywhere other than on a table. Seriously, what advantage does this have over a normal laptop?
  18. Yeah. The CD tray opening mechanism is typically fairly simple, chances are you might be able to fix it. And if not, you can gut it, attach a handle, and operate the tray manually.
  19. Good to know you\'re doing better. Hang in there.
  20. That is amazing. I\'m mesmerized by that.
